Abstract

The invention relates to an adapter for connecting a mechanical respirator to a mask terminal and an oxygen cannula. The inventive adapter consists of a long rigid cylindrical body (1) comprising lateral flanges (2) having a rigid conical body (3) disposed at the opposing end thereof. According to the invention, the diameter of the conical body decreases in a series of steps, such that the diameter is larger at the centre and noticeably smaller at the end at which it is connected to the cannula or mask, thereby forming steps which adapt to the tube or the socket of the terminal and which provide a connection that prevents the adapter from becoming detached owing to air pressure.

ADAPTADOR DE RESPIRADOR MECÁNICO A TERMINAL DE MASCARILLA Y CÁNULA DE OXÍGENOMECHANICAL RESPIRATOR ADAPTER TO MASK TERMINAL AND OXYGEN CANNULA
OBJETO DE LA INVENCIÓNOBJECT OF THE INVENTION
The object of the present invention relates to a mechanical respirator adapter to the mask terminal and the oxygen cannula, used in the field of the sanitary material industry, for patients who are going to undergo surgical intervention, either either intradural or epidural spinal anesthesia, as well as sedation or interventions with local anesthesia in the operating room.
ANTECEDENTES DE LA INVENCIÓNBACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
At present, and as a reference to the state of the art, it should be mentioned that the existence of a similar adapter is not known or that it meets the safety features that this invention offers.
DESCRIPCIÓN DE LA INVENCIÓNDESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The petitioner of the present invention has designed an adapter for the connection between the mechanical respirator and the connections of the cannula and the oxygen mask, which is configured as a simplified manufacturing object but in which all the characteristics required for the correct and safe supply of oxygen required for interventions in which the supply of oxygen, air, or other sedative elements to patients is necessary, and whose reliability in the joints ensures the purpose for which it has been invented. Thanks to its specific configuration, the invention allows to ensure the perfect adaptation to the air and oxygen output of the mechanical respirator through its elongated cylindrical body, made of lightweight material of rigid constitution such as plastic, and of a sufficient length for its use, which also incorporates lateral fins whose ergonomic design allows the perfect fit of the adapter, being able to be easily handled and allowing to calculate the pressure at which it is to be introduced, and giving half a turn to fit perfectly preventing it from being forced out of the air or oxygen. At the opposite end, the adapter has an elongated conical body that, stepwise, goes from more to less in diameter, both external and internal; This striated or staggered shape allows a better adaptation and reliability by ensuring the perfect union or assembly with the female connection presented by both the cannulas and the masks, being these stretch marks and their progressive decrease what ensures, being the plastic female connection Soft, a secure connection or coupling preventing it from slipping or disconnecting due to air or oxygen pressure.

In view of the aforementioned figures and in accordance with the numbering adopted, a preferred but not limiting embodiment of the invention can be observed therein, which consists of an adapter, constituted by from an elongated cylindrical body (1) of rigid and light material, and of a length sufficient for its use. Said body (1), which is the part of the adapter that is introduced into the common air outlet of the mechanical respirator, also used for manual ventilation of the patient in the pre-intubation, incorporates lateral fins (2) whose ergonomic design allows its perfect fit, being able to be handled easily and allow to calculate the pressure at which you want to introduce it. At the opposite end, the adapter, where it connects to the cannula or the mask, depending on the case, has an elongated conical body (3) whose diameter, both external and internal, decreases stepwise, so that this diameter is larger in its central part and significantly smaller at its end; In this way, it allows a better adaptation at the time of being introduced into the tube or female part of the terminal and reliability by ensuring the connection preventing its stepped form that slips or releases due to the air pressure, which achieves a fixed and secure union.
