SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR ELETRONIC HAIR COORDINATION
[Technical Field]
This invention is about system and method for electronic hair
coordination. In addition, they are about extracting face profile image from
user's photo image and creating hair coordination image by compounding
extracted profile image and hairstyle image.
[Background Art]
In the past, users who wanted to know how to coordinate their
hairstyle could experience desired hairstyle by just visiting offline beauty
shop. However, as information communication technology develops now,
users can use coordination service through electronic hair coordination
system without visiting an offline beauty shop.
On occasion of hair coordination using electronic hair coordination
system, users can experience various hairstyles without direct touch on
hair by shooting user's image and compounding the image with hairstyle
images. However, hair coordination system in the past conducted hairstyle
coordination by cutting just face as rectangular shape from user's photo
image to composite the image with hairstyle image. Therefore, there was a
problem that it could not fulfill user's needs since composite image of
user's face image and hairstyle image was unnatural.
As an alternative of the problem, a method compounding hair style
image with face image extracted from user's photo with rectangular shape
inside of upper, lower, left, and right line that can include face portion has
been used. This method makes more natural image than the method cutting
face image simply, but it also has problem not to fulfill user's needs since
uniformed coordination is conducted without consideration of each of
different facial type.
Therefore, an electronic hair coordination system and method to
solve those problems are needed more than necessarily. [Disclosure of Invention]
This invention is from idea to improve existing technology as above,
and its objective is to provide electronic hair coordination system and its
method by extracting face profile image from user's photo image and
creating hair coordination image with compounding the extracted image and
hair style image.
Also, electronic hair coordination system and method of this
invention's objective is to make possible to have natural hair coordination
by compounding hairstyle image with user's image, which size and position
are adjusted to guideline. Also, electronic hair coordination system and method of this
invention's objective is to fulfill user's needs by improving reality of hair
coordination with compounding hairstyle image with user's image as it
refers user's facial type information.
Also, electronic hair coordination system and method of this
invention's objective is to make possible to transmit hair coordination image
to user's mobile terminal using MMS.
To achieve objectives above and solve problems of previous
technology, electronic hair coordination system of this invention includes
hair style image saving part that saves hair style image adjusted to certain
preset size and guideline, user photo adjustment part that adjusts size and
position of photo image of user by inputting user's photo image and
providing guideline, profile extraction part that extracts face profile from
adjusted photo of user, and image composite part that creates composite
image adding extracted profile image and hair style image above.
According to other aspect of this invention, it includes hair style
image saving part that saves hair style images with matching facial type
information, profile extraction part that extracts face profile from a user's
photo image, which was shot on the user, after it was inputted, facial type
judgment part that judges user's facial type from the face profile image,
hair style image selection part that selects at least one or more hair style
images matching with the user's facial type among hair style images saved
in the hair style image saving part, and image composite part that provides
a composite image to users by compounding the extracted face profile
image and the selected hair style image.
According to another aspect of this invention, it includes a step to
save hair style image adjusted to certain preset size and guideline, a step to
adjust size and position of user photo image after it was inputted and
provides the guideline, a step to extract face profile image from the
adjusted user photo image, and a step to create a composite image with the
extracted face profile image and hair style image.
According to another aspect of this invention, it includes a step to
save hair style image with matching facial type information in hair style
image saving part, a step to extract face profile image from the user photo
image after it was inputted, a step to judge facial type from the user's face
profile image, a step to select at least one or more hair style images
matching to the user's facial type among hair style images saved in the hair
style image saving part, and a step to create a composite image with the
extracted face profile image and hair style image to provide it to the user.

Hereafter, system and method of electronic hair coordination of this
invention are explained referring attached figures. Figure 1 is a picture illustrating network connection of electronic
hair coordination system according to the invention.
Electronic hair coordination system (100) adjusts size and position
of inputted user photo image according to guideline and extracts face
profile from adjusted user image to make various hair-coordination possible
by combining it with adjusted hairstyle image by guideline. Also, electronic hair coordination system (100) saves hairstyle
image matching facial type, and it makes possible to choose and to
composite hairstyle image that matches well with user's facial type by
judging facial type information from user's face profile.
User (110) is connected to hair electronic system (100) through
communication network (130) and may own user terminal (115) to connect
with communication network (130). User (110) inputs own photo image to
hair electronic coordination system (100) through user terminal (115) and
performs various hair coordination by compounding it with hairstyle image.
Figure codes (120) illustrate an example of program conducted in electronic
coordination system (100):
User terminal (115) is an apparatus, which is equipped with memory,
like desktop PC, notebook PC, PDA, and mobile terminal, and
microprocessor to have computation function with connection ability to
wired and wireless communication network. According to another operating
example of the invention, user terminal (115) can operate this invention by
downloading a certain program (120), which is needed to conduct hair
coordination, from electronic hair coordination system (100). Each step to
conduct this invention can be operated in electronic coordination system
(100) and user terminal (115) separately or in either part as a whole.
Figure 2 is a picture illustrating interior constitution of electronic
hair coordination system according to an operating example of the invention.
As shown in Figure 2, electronic hair coordination system (100,
200) includes image saving part (201), user photo adjustment part (202),
profile extraction part (203), and image composite part (204).
Image saving part (201) saves hairstyle image adjusted to certain
preset size and guideline. Guideline above, a fixed oval area, makes
possible for natural composite with user's face profile by adjusting position
and size of hairstyle image as guideline a center. In other words, guideline
can be standard information for compounding hairstyle image and face
profile image. Hereafter, method for creating hairstyle image is explained
referring Figure 3.
Figure 3 is a picture illustrating method to create hairstyle image
that will be saved in hairstyle image saving part according to an operating
example of the invention.
As shown in Figure 3, to extract hairstyle image, an image including
hairstyle to be extracted needs to be placed on guideline (301) first.
Position and size of guideline (301) can be set beforehand, and once preset
guideline information can have fixed information until completion on image
composite of hairstyle image and face profile image. In case of placing an
image including hairstyle on guideline (301), position of hairstyle image can
be adjusted so face image can be inside of guideline (301) area. By
removing face image, background image, and upper body image included in
guideline (301) area from image above, only hair image can be saved.
Therefore, it is possible to create natural composite image without
readjusting size and position on compounding image since hairstyle image
(303) adjusted to position and size of guideline (301). Also, only upper body
image can be extracted from image above to save certain space. On
creating hair coordination image, it could be unnatural image when only
hairstyle image and face image are in composite. Therefore, compounding
user's face image and extracted upper body image more on it would make
natural composite image. User photo adjustment part (202) adjusts size and position of user's
photo by inputting user's photo image and providing guideline. Inputted
user's photo image can be adjusted to guideline for natural composite with
hairstyle image saved in hairstyle image saving part (201). Guideline above
is a same guideline to extract hairstyle image, and user's face image can be
adjusted to be inside of the guideline as a standard by moving position of
user's image or adjusting size. User's photo image may become converted
2-dimensional digital image, which is shot by digital camera or shot by
analog camera to scan.
Profile extraction part (203) extracts face profile from user's
adjusted photo image above. In case of compounding with hairstyle image,
only face image is needed among user's image. Therefore, only profile
image corresponding to face profile is extracted among user's image, and
hair coordination can be conducted through compounding extracted profile
image and hairstyle image.
Processes of extracting face profile by profile extraction part (203)
are, to extract face profile first, plural number of control points regarding
face profile on user's photo image are inputted by manage, and face profile
image can be extracted using scan-line technique and alpha channel
information after applying B-Spline curve between those control points.
Hereafter, method to extract face profile is explained using Figure 4a to
Figure 4c.
Figure 4a, 4b, and 4c are pictures illustrating method to extract
profile image of a face from user image according to an operating example
of the invention.
First, as shown in Figure 4a, certain number (i.e. 4) of control
points (401) is inputted on upper, lower, left, and right side of user's face
image. Next, B-Spline curve (402) is applied on inputted control points
above, and user's face area is specified connecting those control points.
Then, referring Figure 4b, scan-line technique can be applied on specified
face area above. Scan-line technique is used to make area of face image by
assembling squares as it scans vector area line (403) unit consisted of
polygon. Finally, referring Figure 4c, face area can be extracted by using
alpha channel information on image, which scan-line technique is applied.
Alpha channel of image has 0~255 of value, which indicates
permeability of image. Alpha channel is mainly used to save selected area
since black portion cannot be seen, and semitransparent white is expressed
as opaque.
As another method to extract a face profile image, it is possible to
extract user's face profile by selecting pre-selected face area and
adjusting size of selected face area portion. For example, if user's face
type is oval shape, user's face image is showed as oval-shaped face profile
when oval shape is selected (i.e. clicking mouse) among face types, and
portion corresponding to user's face profile can be selected by adjusting
size of selected profile line or face area portion.
Figure 5 is a picture illustrating color-editing method of user's face
image and hairstyle image according to an operating example of the
invention.
As shown in Figure 5, hairstyle image and user image have different
brightness, saturation, and luminance since they were not shot at same
place or same lighting. Because of this, editing with similar color
information of extracted user's face image and hairstyle image can make
natural hair coordination. Generally, image files include brightness, contrast, and RGB color
information. Therefore, referring brightness, contrast, and RGB color
information of hair style image saved in hair style image saving part (201)
makes possible to edit most similar color information between user's face
profile image and hair style image. For example, using brightness, contrast,
and RGB color information of hair style image to create composite image, a
user can change each pixel's RGB information of user's face profile image
to match selected hair style image with face profile image.
Image composite part (204) creates a composite image by
compounding the extracted face profile image and the hairstyle image. Also,
image composite part (204) can composite upper body image and face
profile image before compounding face profile image and hairstyle image.
This image composite part (204) can create a composite image by
overlapping desired images. For example, user's face profile image is
overlapped on upper body image first, and again on those, selecting
hairstyle image can overlap face profile image and hairstyle image.
Hereafter, a method to composite images is explained referring Figure 6
and Figure 7.
Figure 6 is picture illustrating an example of method to composite
user's face image and upper body image according to an operating example
of the invention. As shown in Figure 6, a user can composite user's face profile
image and upper body image before compounding hair style image and
user's face profile image. To composite upper body image and user's face
image, a user selects desired upper body image among upper body images
first and overlaps user's face profile image on it. In this case, user can
adjust size that user's face profile image can fit to guideline while providing
guideline. As above, based on composite image of upper body image and
user's face profile image, it is possible to conduct compounding of various
hairstyle images.
Figure 7 is a picture illustrating an example of method to composite
a face profile image and hairstyle image according to another operating
example of the invention.
As shown in Figure 7, overlapping desired hairstyle image by a user
to coordinate on composite image of upper body image and face profile
image can complete hair coordination image. In other words, hairstyle
image can be overlapped on face profile image for coordination. Also, it is
possible that a user can experience diverse hair coordination by
compounding numerous hairstyle images with face profile image. Since hair
style image and user's face profile image are adjusted to preset guideline, it
is possible to composite naturally with user's face profile image by moving
hair style image to corresponding position (hair image position of guideline). Figure 8 is a picture illustrating interior constitution of electronic
hair coordination system according to other operating example of the
invention.
As shown in Figure 8, electronic hair coordination system (800)
includes hairstyle image saving part (801), profile extraction part (802),
facial type judgment part (803), hairstyle image selection part (804), and
image composite part (850).
Hairstyle image saving part (801) can save hairstyle image with
matching facial type information together. The facial type information may
be one of long shape, rectangular shape, inversed triangle shape, round
shape, and diamond shape. For example, if short hairstyle matches well on
diamond facial shape, various short hairstyle images can be saved with
'diamond shape' of facial type information. Also, the hairstyle image can be
saved by each image including same facial type information. Therefore,
users can select their matching hairstyle image according to their facial
image easily.
Also, hairstyle image saving part (801) can save hairstyle images
including more on hairstyle sorting information. The hair style sorting
information can be one of 1) pure, 2) natural, 3) feminine, 4) traditional, 5)
cute, 6) active, 7) sporty, 8) casual, and 9) trendy. Therefore, in hairstyle
image saving part (801), 'hair style image-facial type information-hair style
sorting information' can be saved together.
Profile extraction part (802) extracts face profile image from the
user photo image after inputting user photo image, which shot the user. To
extract face profile image, plural number of control points on face profile
from the user's 2-dimensional photo image are inputted, and circle shaped
area, which is to face profile, is selected applying B-Spline curve between
the control points. As line unit scans the circle shaped area and scan-line
technique to make rectangular collection is applied, it is possible to extract
only face profile image by setting alpha channel. In other words, face
profile can be extracted with the same method of profile extraction part
(202) on electronic hair coordination system (200) (refer Figure 4a to 4c).
Facial type judgment part (803) judges the user's facial type from
the face profile image. Facial type can be distinguished automatically by
judging which facial type is most similar to the extracted face profile image.
For example, keeping standard facial type image information corresponding
to each facial type and comparing the extracted user's face profile image
with the standard image can judge user's facial type using most similar
standard facial type information. Also, it is possible to input facial type
information directly from users.
Hairstyle image selection part (804) selects one or more hairstyle
images matching with the user's facial type among hairstyle images saved
in the hairstyle image saving part. Hairstyle images saved in hairstyle
image saving part (801) are also with facial type information and hairstyle
sorting information. Therefore, it is possible to select a hairstyle image
matching to the user referring the facial type information and hairstyle
sorting information. For example, if judged facial type information from
user's face profile image is 'round shape' and the user wants feminine hair
style, one of more images among 'round shape' images for facial type
information and 'feminine' images for hair style saved in hair style image
saving part (801) can be selected. Therefore, it is easy for users to select
matching hairstyle image. Image composite part (850) provides a composite image to users by
compounding the extracted face profile image and the selected hairstyle
image. Overlapping the selected hairstyle image on the user's face profile
image can create the composite image. Since the hair style image and
user's face profile image are adjusted to preset guideline, it is possible to
create natural composite image without editing on position and size of
hairstyle image and face profile image.
Users can access to electronic hair coordination system (200, 800)
through network to conduct various types of hair coordination, and it is
possible that users can send the created coordination image on web to
mobile terminal. For example, among plural number of created hair
coordination image on web, users can select a desired hair coordination
image and sends it to own mobile terminal. After receiving hair coordination
image from mobile terminal, users can request same hairstyle, which was
received, by visiting hair service providers, such as beauty shops, and
showing it to a hair designer. Therefore, it is possible that users can
experience hairstyle in real operated on web.
Figure 9 is a picture illustrating a scene conducting hair
coordination as a user accesses to electronic hair coordination system
according to an operating example of the invention.
First, as shown in Figure 9, users can conduct hair coordination by
using hair coordination operating program (900) installed in user terminal.
First, a user calls up a photo image (901), which was shot on the user, to
hair coordination operating program (900) and extracts user's face profile
image (902). On the extracted face profile image, overlapping hairstyle
image can create various hair coordination images. Also, it is possible that users can select compounding hair style
image according to user's facial type and hair style sorting information and
create composite image according to guideline by selecting more on upper
body image and background image.
Figure 10 is a picture illustrating constitution of electronic hair
coordination system according to another operating example of the
invention.
As shown in Figure 10, electronic hair coordination system (1000)
may include user terminal (1010) and hair image transmission server (1020).
On user terminal (1010), user photo image, which shot user, is
inputted, and it extracts face profile image from the user photo image to
transmit it with the user's contact information of mobile terminal to image
transmission server. In other words, only user's face image is transmitted
to image transmission server (1020) on user terminal, and compounding
with hairstyle image can be done in hair image transmission server (1020).
This user terminal (1000) can be determined as an apparatus
equipped with memory, like desktop PC, notebook PC, PDA, and mobile
terminal, and microprocessor to have computation capacity with connection
ability to wired and/or wireless communication network.
Hair image transmission server (1020) saves hairstyle image and
sends composite image, which saved hairstyle image and face profile image
received from user's terminal are applied. In this case, user (1015), who
requests image transmission to image transmission server (1020), and user
(1035), who receives from image transmission server, can be same user or
different user.
For transmission to mobile terminal, one of these services, which
are MMS, SMS, and URL Call Back service, can be used. MMS (Multimedia
Messaging System) is a multimedia messaging service transmitting photos,
movies, music, or voices as a file with text message, and it makes possible
to transmit various information comparing to SMS, which transmits simple
text messages.
SMS (Short Message Service) is a service that can send text
message (80 bytes, 40 characters if Korean) from mobile terminal. It is
possible to send it from web site to mobile terminal or between mobile
terminals.
URL Call Back service is a method to check desired information
connecting to corresponding web address (i.e. phone page) received on
mobile phone, if maximum volume of text message (80 bytes, 40 characters
if Korean) is exceeded on sending message using SMS. In other words, URL
Call Back is utilized with short sentenced message provided by former SMS,
it is possible to send various multimedia points, like image and text.
This hair image transmission server (1020) may include hair style
image saving part that saves face type information matching hair style
image, hair style image selection part that selects more than one hair style
image matching user's face type among saved hair style images in hair
style image saving part, and image composite part that composites the
extracted face profile image and selected hair style image to provide.
Also, hair image transmission server (1020) creates more than 2
composite images by selecting more than 2 images among saved hair style
image above and sends to the user's mobile terminal (1030) by creating
image file, which shows more than 2 composite images in turn. For example,
if 3 hair style images matching user face type information and hair style
sorting information that user wants are selected, 3 hair coordination images
are created by compounding 3 selected hair style images with user's face
profile image. Then, it creates an image file showing 3 created images in
turn and sends to user's mobile terminal. Therefore, user (1035) can
receive coordination information of various hairstyles by one message
transmission. Hereafter, hair coordination image transmitted to user's
mobile terminal is explained referring Figure 11.
Figure 11 is a picture illustrating an example of hair coordination
image transmitted to user's mobile terminal according to an operating
example of the invention.
As shown in Figure 11, if 3 hairstyle images (1101) matching to
face profile image received from user terminal are selected, each
coordination image (1102, 1103, 1104) can be created by compounding
selected hairstyle images and user's face profile image. Those 3 composite
images becomes an images file, for instance, a certain button on user's
mobile terminal changes each composite image to show, and it is
transmitted to user's mobile terminal. Also, while transmitting the image,
certain text message corresponding the coordination image can be sent
together.
Electronic hair coordination system above can be used with
customer management system in a place providing hair service, such as a
beauty shop. If a certain customer visits a beauty shop and receives hair
service, information of the customer, such as name, sex, visit date, facial
type, desired hair style sort, contact number of mobile terminal, and hair
service type with user's photo image, can be saved. The photo image can
be inputted in terminal (PC) installed at the beauty shop to extract face
profile image from the customer's photo image, and it can be transmitted to
image transmission server with the customer's mobile terminal number.
Image transmission server refers plural facial type information of hairstyle
image and hairstyle-sorting information the user wants, and then, it selects
more than 1 hairstyle image matching to customer's face profile image.
Then, various hair coordination images can be created by compounding the
selected plural hairstyle images and customer's face profile image. A text
message including certain explanation regarding hair coordination and hair
coordination image above is prepared to send to the customer's mobile
terminal. Transmission method may be one of MMS, SMS, or URL Call Back. Also, time frame to send hair coordination image to customer's
mobile terminal may be certain period after last hair service for customer, a
point that a new hair style becomes a trend, or a point that season changes.
For example, if a customer visits and receives hair cut service on
November 10th, 2004, more than one hair coordination images matching the
customer are created and sent to the customer's mobile terminal. Therefore,
customers can get hairstyle information matching to them without visitation
to a beauty shop and consultation with a hair designer, and for beauty
shops, it is possible to improve customer management service by sending
multimedia information including various information rather than simple text
message using SMS.
Figure 12 is a picture illustrating method flow to provide electronic
hair coordination according to an operating example of the invention.
First, at step (1201), a hairstyle image adjusted to certain preset
size and guideline is saved. The guideline is a fixed oval shape area, and it
can make composite of hairstyle image and user's face profile image as
guideline a center. At step (1202), a user photo image, which shot a user, is inputted,
and size and position of the user photo image is adjusted by providing the
guideline. User's face image can be adjusted to be inside the guideline by
moving position of user's image or adjusting size as the guideline a
standard.
At step (1203), a face profile image is extracted from the adjusted
user photo image. The face profile image can be extracted by using scan-
line technique and alpha channel information after inputting plural number
of control points regarding face profile of user photo image and applying B-
Spline between the control points.
At step (1204), a composite image is created by compounding the
extracted face profile image and the hairstyle image. Compounding images
can be conducted by overlapping hairstyle image on user's face profile
image.
Figure 13 is picture illustrating method flow to provide electronic
hair coordination according to another operating example of the invention. Providing method of electronic hair coordination according to an
operating example of Figure 13 is conducted by electronic hair coordination
system (800) mentioned in Figure 8.
First at step (1301), a hairstyle image is saved in hairstyle saving
part with matching facial type information (long type, rectangular type,
inversed triangle type, round type, diamond type, and etc.) Also, the
hairstyle image can be saved together with hairstyle sorting information
(pure, natural, feminine, traditional, cute, active, sporty, casual, trendy).
At step (1302), a user photo image, which shot a user, is inputted,
and a face profile image is extracted from the user photo image. Extracting
face profile image can be conducted as the same method of step (1203). At step (1303), the user's facial type is judged from the face profile
image. For user's facial type, most similar facial type information is
selected by judging degree of similarity of each facial type of face profile
image, or facial type information can be inputted directly from the user.
At step (1304), more than one hairstyle image matching to the
user's facial type is selected among hairstyle images saved in the hairstyle
image saving part. Also, the user inputs hairstyle-sorting information that a
user wants, and a hairstyle image can be selected by referring more on
inputted hairstyle sorting information.
At step (1305), a composite image, which compounding the
extracted face profile image and selected hairstyle image, is provided to
the user. Compounding image can be conducted by overlapping hairstyle
image on user's face profile image.
Electronic hair coordination providing method of this invention can
be recorded on computer decoding media with program order form, which
can be conducted by various computing methods. The computer decoding
media may include program order, data file, and data composition by each
or mixed. Program order recorded on the media may be designed and
constituted especially for the invention or usable with notification to
computer software providers. Examples of computer decoding media
include magnetic media, such as hard disk, floppy disk, and magnetic tape,
optical media, such as CD-ROM and DVD, magneto-optical media, such as
floppy disk, and hardware equipment constituted especially for saving and
conducting program orders, such as ROM, RAM, and flash memory. The
media may be transmitting media, such as fiber-optic, metal line, and wave
guide, that include carrier wave transmitting signals, which appoint program
orders and data constitution. Examples of program orders include high-
class language code that can be operated by computer using an interpreter
as well as mechanical language code, which made by compiler. Hardware
equipment mentioned above can be constituted with more than one software
module to operate the invention, and vice versa.
To operate electronic hair coordination providing method of this invention,
general computer equipment can be used, and hardware equipment
mentioned above can be constituted with more than one software-module
to operate the invention.
Until now, specific operating examples according to the invention
were explained, but it is obvious to alter in various ways within the limits of
the invention.
Therefore, limitation of the invention should not be determined only
by explained operating examples here, and it should be determined by
other equal limitation of this patent claim as well as limitation of patent
claims explained hereafter. [Industrial Applicability]
According to electronic hair coordination system and method of this
