Abstract

L'invention concerne un procédé pour effectuer la réduction à long terme ou l'enlèvement définitif des cheveux. Ce procédé utilise des niveaux faibles de densité optique, généralement de 5 Joules/cm2 ou moins, possibles grâce à l'exploitation du différentiel dans le temps de relaxation thermique de la tige des cheveux et de la mélanine environnante des couches basale et épidermique, notamment à un temps de relaxation thermique plus long de la tige des cheveux par rapport aux cellules de mélanine isolées. De cette manière, pour une montée donnée de température, la tige des cheveux reste à une température plus élevée pendant un temps plus long que les cellules de mélanine, grâce à un taux de diffusion plus faible. Une séquence d'impulsions optiques ou 'train d'impulsions' est administrée au site de traitement, avec une capacité du train d'impulsions d'avoir une durée, une intensité et un cycle d'action variables. L'énergie optique totale administrée provoque une montée de température dans le tissu en fonction de la longueur d'onde, de la densité d'énergie, de la durée d'impulsion et des paramètres de tissu de la couleur de la peau (qui est déterminée par la teneur de la peau en mélanine), la présence de cheveux ou d'autres structures contenant des pigments.
