Description

REMORQUE BAGAGERE MONOCOQUE A EXTENSIONS ET AMENAGEMENTS INTERIEURS MONOCOQUE LUGGAGE TRAILER WITH EXTENSIONS AND INTERIOR ARRANGEMENTS
The present invention relates to a monocoque trailer with extensions and interior fittings.
Trailers known as baggage trailers are trailers as the name suggests, suitable for transporting luggage. However, the variety of bogages is such that it is difficult to meet the vast majority of requests with the same product. In addition, these trailers often become all-purpose trailers and therefore receive any type of load.
Thus there is a simple trailer of parallelepiped shape generally designed with sheet metal walls and a floor forming a frame receiving an axle equipped with wheels and a drawbar with a head to allow the coupling of said trailer to a vehicle.
The sheet metal walls are fixed and the rear part is generally swivel to allow loading and unloading of objects.
Given the diversity of products, the choice of trailer is delicate. Either the user chooses a trailer that is too large for most loads and is obliged to tow it as well, or he chooses it suitable for most loads, but then in certain situations it turns out to be too small. Another problem is also the aging of the trailer because it, subjected to the atmospheric conditions of the road and during its storage, mostly outside, undergoes strong corrosion. In fact, the manufacturing sheets of these trailers are not subjected to the sophisticated treatments of vehicle bodies. Another element is the aesthetics of these trailers. Given the manufacturing conditions, it is impossible to give these trailers forms other than parallelepipedic, unless incurring significant costs. As for accessories, it is difficult to provide them internally in trailers of known type.
Movable parts such as the rear wall are pivotally mounted around hinges also made of metal.
Signaling lights are generally attached to trailers without any integration, which exposes these lights to impact and penalizes the aesthetics. The metal carcass also generates noises and vibrations during driving and these noises and vibrations are transmitted by the drawbar to the coupling and are transmitted to the vehicle.
To complete the aesthetic analysis, we see that the color is generally of the galvanized metal type to resist corrosion, which is not very elegant. In some cases, the walls can be painted but then the life of such a paint is extremely limited.
Figure imgf000004_0001
However, given the sophisticated exterior shapes and the quality of the paintwork on the vehicles, the baggage trailers are completely out of place to the point of dissuading owners from using such trailers to supplement the boot. Another aspect to take into account in the technology to be developed is the cost of such trailers which must remain in line with the market and not stray from the price of current baggage trailers. It can be seen in the prior art that trailers have been developed to meet certain requirements. Thus, patent application W099 65715 describes a trailer
Figure imgf000004_0001
a frame supporting a hull having rigid covers arranged in the upper part, able to pivot to allow access to the interior of the volume of the hull. Another patent application WO 99 41132 aims to make a trailer multifunctional. To this end, a chassis is provided supporting a molded shell with a floor. This hull has different options including a cover forming a navigational structure. The shape of the molded shell provides a shell-like profile for better penetration into the air.
The hull of the trailer described in patent application WO 95 20517 is of the molded type in sandwich material with two half-shells assembled by mechanical means with screws. This hull avoids the presence of a chassis and a drawbar. Indeed, the axle is directly attached under the trailer and this trailer is fixed by its front part directly on the hitch but it is complex to produce and remains reserved for trailers for transporting heavy loads. In addition, such a trailer has no modularity and is fully closed with only rear access. This trailer does not meet the criteria for baggage trailers and manufacturing according to this teaching would lead to totally prohibitive costs. It can be seen through the prior art that the problems posed in the preamble are real and have not found suitable industrial solutions. It is the object of the present invention to provide a trailer which overcomes the drawbacks of the prior art and which meets the criteria of industrial manufacture. The trailer according to the present invention is now described in detail according to a particular, nonlimiting embodiment, this with regard to the appended drawings, the figures of which represent: FIG. 1, a perspective view of a trailer according to the present invention, - Figure 2, a simplified longitudinal sectional view showing an arrangement of the monohull and of the rolling and traction means, - Figure 3, a partial view in simplified perspective with a simple side wall, - Figure 4, a partial view in simplified perspective with a variant mounting of the drop side, FIG. 5, a partial sectional view with an extension, - FIG. 6, a simplified perspective view with a first type of reported interior arrangement, - FIG. 7, a sectional view with a second type of interior fitting reported, - Figure 8, a view with the top cover opening with an integrated hinge, and - Figure 9, a perspective view of an arrangement with housings and cross bars with double function.
In Figure 1, there is shown a trailer according to the present invention, according to a particular aesthetic profile, not limiting, to illustrate the unlimited variants of creation.
This baggage trailer comprises a self-supporting monohull 10, made of synthetic material, for example made of charged polymer material, and obtained there also in a preferential but nonlimiting manner, by rotational molding.
This hull being self-supporting, as shown in the section of FIG. 2, it receives in the lower part an independent axle 12 linked to said hull by any appropriate means, in particular pads 14 integral with this axle and screws 16 crossing the floor 18 of the monocoque, thus linking this monocoque to said axle.
The wheel arches 20 of the axle 22 are directly reserved for manufacturing in the monohull. As for the drawbar 24, it is either connected directly to the axle by welding, or made integral directly in the front part of the floor of the monocoque by means of screws like the axle.
The drawbar's sole purpose is to allow the trailer to be pulled by connecting it to a vehicle and in no case to serve as a carrying frame. In known manner, this drawbar carries a coupling head 26 capable of cooperating with the traction sphere of the vehicle.
Given the dimensions of a baggage trailer and the loads involved, there is no need to use sophisticated techniques such as sandwich panels.
The monohull comprises a continuous wall at the periphery in the embodiment shown, on the three sides, lateral 28, 30 and front 32, the rear wall 34 being open.
The rear wall 34 has, for its closure, a removable drop side 36, see FIG. 3. Advantageously, there is a sliding assembly of this drop side. To this end, the side edges of the side walls of the trailer include vertical slides 38, molded into which are introduced the edges 40 of the side panel 36, from top to bottom, thus avoiding the presence of hinges. Even more advantageously, see FIG. 4, the edges 40 of the drop side and the lateral edges of the lateral walls 28, 30 carry cutouts 41, also molded, allowing introduction by a double movement, two successive combined movements of the 'back to front and top to bottom. This allows closing even with the loaded monohull. The removal of the drop side is carried out by the reverse operation of lifting and withdrawal towards the rear. A hard point, essentially for reasons of double security, can be provided during molding so that possible bumps do not lead to lifting the drop side and its possible disengagement, knowing that the movement combined with the amplitudes necessary in each case is impossible to reach at random.
In FIG. 5, the drop side 36 has been replaced by an extension module 42. Indeed, in the case of a load longer than the length of the floor, the only known solution of the prior art consists in removing the rear drop side and letting the object protrude.
Suivant un autre agencement représenté sur la figure 7, il est prévu des insertsIf we take as an example a gliding board such as a surfboard, the problem is important because when the drop side is open, the other objects contained in the trailer are exposed in particular to theft and are subjected, during displacements, depressions. In addition, the board is fragile and in the event of improper maneuvering by the driver but also by other road users, the board can be damaged. These risks increase if several boards are provided. In fact, in the preferred embodiment, this extension module 42 has edges capable of cooperating with the slides receiving the side panel. Its convex shape can be more or less pronounced and therefore leads to a corresponding increase in the length of the monohull. According to a variant not shown, it is possible to provide the same arrangement of the front front wall with a removable drop side and an adaptable extension module. According to another arrangement, it is possible to provide an arrangement of the same type, laterally. In this case, the length and / or the width are increased accordingly. These increases must remain reasonable. In fact, on the front, this increase can only be obtained in any case within the limit left available by the drawbar and laterally by the dimensions allocated to the road gauge. In Figure 6, there is shown a first arrangement with at least one comb 44 attached to the interior of the monohull, from above, which comprises several cells adapted to receive windsurfing floats for example or bicycle wheels . This comb is also of the molded type. According to another arrangement shown in Figure 7, there are provided inserts
It can be seen in all of the arrangements the absence of screws to be handled by the user of the trailer according to the present invention, including during conversions.
In the same way as for the drop sides, it is possible to arrange housings with removable partitions with introduction by vertical sliding, within the same volume of the monohull.
These slides are, in this case, originally provided and molded. We also note the possibility of arranging the lighting and other mandatory safety elements such as the license plate or the reflectors, in reserves of the monohull, thus ensuring embedding and therefore protection of the latter. An upper cover 50 is also provided to close the monohull from above. Such a cover is advantageously pivotable to facilitate access to the interior volume. In this case, the hinges 51 are partly directly molded from the upper part of the front wall and for the other part formed directly on the cover. An embodiment is shown in Figure 8. The cover can thus be lifted but these hinges also allow the removal of the cover without any tool, simply by disengaging by complete rotation on the front. A pivoting strut 52 can be attached to the cover so as to keep the latter open if necessary, said strut bearing on the monohull.
According to the embodiment shown in FIG. 9, longitudinal housings 54 are provided to ensure the reception of bicycle wheels or sections of sailboard floats while ensuring a certain wedging. Transversally, inserts 56 are integrated into the floor this time. These inserts can be in the form of tubes, for example metal tubes, preferably aluminum to eliminate the problems of corrosion.
Such tubes provide longitudinal wedging and strap attachment points if necessary in addition to reinforcing the stiffness of the floor. As these tubes are integrated during manufacture, there is no recovery and the corresponding cost of implementation is limited. All the elements constituting the trailer being made of polymer material or of metal insensitive to corrosion, this trailer is insensitive to corrosion, which is an advantage in general and even more when the products transported are surfboards with salt water remnants, possibly wet and muddy sports or gardening equipment or mountain bikes to name a few. After rinsing, the trailer according to the invention regains its initial appearance, suitable for receiving luggage for example. The colors can be perfectly adapted to that of the traction vehicle. The manufacturing by rotational molding makes it possible to obtain manufacturing prices compatible with those of the existing trailers by bringing many advantages and in particular that of absorbing vibrations, thus overcoming this problem of metal trailers. Indeed, the rolling means can be dissociated from the drawbar and it is also possible to interpose between the drawbar and the monohull sheets of noise absorbing material.
As the monohull acts as a sounding board like all the others, the fact that it is self-supporting means that it can only be linked to the axle for load recovery.
