Abstract

An assay for the presence of nucleic acid sequence variations is provided, in particular SNPs. The method includes allowing a labelled first primer including one form of the variation to anneal to a target sequence including the variation; allowing a second primer having a binding sequence to anneal adjacent the first primer; ligating the primers; purifying ligated primers using the binding sequence; and annealing the purified primers to a nucleic acid corresponding to the target. This final step is preferably carried out in a microarray format, allowing high-throughput screening methods to be used.
