Abstract

The invention concerns a method for fractionating animal fat waste containing fatty components, water and solid matter in solid form, in particular for producing liquid fuels. The inventive method consists in first mechanically grinding the fat waste, then in heating same, so that at least part of the water evaporates and a large fraction of the solid matter is separated from the liquid phase formed by the fatty components, by means of a mechanical solid/liquid separation process. The inventive method is characterized in that the ground fat waste is assembled anew to form larger lumps than prior to the heating process, and said lumps are heated such that the fatty components are transformed into liquid phase, so that the solid matter contained in said lumps remain in an aggregate of solid matter. Said method enables the fatty fraction and the impurities to be efficiently separated, so that from the fat waste, it is possible to obtain fuels free of impurities for internal combustion engines as well as for incinerators.
