One of them is that notification is sent only to the two mobile devices involved in the relation of comparison, other stations or persons are not taken into consideration. This may be needed if the two mobile devices exceeding a certain limit come close to each other which is considered as an undesirable event due to the properties of the two devices, and actually in this case it would be advantageous to send a notice to a third place, for example a dispatch center.
  • Another shortcoming is that the method described in the aforementioned document is applicable only to find matching pairs, and it does not deal with compound spatial arrangement in which a plurality of mobile devices and possibly fixed geographic points are included.
  • Still another shortcoming of the document referred to above is that alarm is generated every time, even if coincidence of the geographic positions of two mobile devices takes place at a single point of time, for example when close position of the two devices is merely instantaneous or occasional, which may exclude the necessity of sending a warning signal. This could be the case for example if a certain period of time for two devices being close to each other is determined as a condition of sending a warning signal.

This information may contain for example the form (SMS, voice signaling, visual signaling, etc.), the duration, the delay time, etc. of the notification to be sent to the target place(s).
  • An essential aspect of the present invention is that the geographic distribution, the logical conditions originating from the user selection profiles and also the conditions representing a basis for comparison of the latter are handled time-dependant.
  • generation of a warning signal on fulfillment of a relative spatial distribution condition can be avoided, for example when nearness or spatial coincidence is of short duration or merely accidental. It is likely to happen for example when the users of the two mobile devices in question travel by trains coming from the opposite direction and they are near each other only for the time they go past each other. Then alarm in order to cancel the proximity state is not needed, and also there is no need for initiating a contact between the two devices.
