Abstract

The invention relates to an electric machine comprising a permanently magnetic rotor (5) and a stator (27) provided with conductive windings. The rotor (5) is fitted with at least six permanent magnets (20) in the direction of the periphery, the external surfaces thereof being flat in relation to the radial direction of the rotor (5). The invention also relates to a pump (1) which is driven by the electric machine and wherein a gap (34) extends between a wall (3) of the pump chamber (4) and an impeller (6) mounted therein. An area, wherein the gap (34) leads to an inlet channel (17) of the pump chamber (4), extends in a radial manner towards the inlet channel (17) and in the axial direction of the flow in the inlet channel (17).
