Abstract

A solubilisable composition comprising polyvalent metal ions and a chelating polymer containing some acidic functional groups. The polymer of the invention is capable of retaining metal ions otherwise susceptible of precipitation with hydroxyl ions, solubilised in high pH water. A solution of the invention containing iron ion and a copolymer of maleic acid is a provider of iron to roots of crops. A specific use of a composition of the invention is in supplying iron to roots of plants growing in highly calcareous soils.
