Definitions

  • the invention relates to a protective solution, in particular a viscoelastic or a rinsing liquid, for use in eye treatments and eye operations.
  • protective solutions in particular viscoelastics or rinsing liquids, are used which, for. B. are applied to the cornea of the eye or - as is usually the case - during the implantation of an intraocular lens as a rinsing liquid, pumped into the anterior chamber of the eye and sucked out of it again.
  • the invention has for its object to provide a way in which any damage to the retina can be prevented even during long operations on the eye.
  • the protective solution has substances which at least partially filter out specific frequency ranges from light radiation which penetrates the protective solution and enters the eye.
  • the light radiation can e.g. B. the radiation of a bright microscope or a treatment laser.
  • the invention provides the possibility of filtering out radiation of different specific wavelengths from the visible as well as from the invisible components of the light, which are the cause of retinal damage. This results in the possibility of improving the viscoelastic agents or rinsing liquids that are usually used in eye treatments or eye operations, so that damage to the eye is avoided. Such a possibility was previously not available in ophthalmic surgery of the fundus, therapeutically oriented cataract surgery, glaucoma surgery or refractive surgery.
  • the protective solutions are mixed with absorber substances which, depending on the use or application filter out unwanted light radiation during the corresponding operation.

  • the invention can e.g. B. used in glaucoma surgery.
  • the eye lens must be protected from the relatively long-wave UV rays of an excimer laser that radiates in the range of 308 nm, since these can induce a so-called secondary cataract.

  • This protective solution can also be used for laser trepanation of the cornea, the protective solution then being applied to the cornea. After a trepanation The natural protection by the cornea is eliminated, so that the eye lens is intensively exposed to the light radiation of the laser, in this case UV light radiation.
  • a protective solution according to the invention can also be used in various operations on the posterior pole of the eye. It is important to specifically suppress heat-transporting light radiation, i.e. radiation that is also effective in the IR range.
  • UV absorber substances can be used that are physiologically compatible, i.e. H. are biocompatible; they should also enter into bonds with the carrier substances of the protective solutions, which ensure coupling of the absorber with the carrier substance, so that the absorber substances do not settle in the protective solution and the absorber substance together with the protective solution after the end of the eye treatment or eye operation can be removed.
  • Dervates of benzophenone are suitable as absorber substances, in particular for the UV range.
  • Other absorbers for specific frequency ranges are known to the person skilled in the art, so z.
