Abstract

L'invention concerne un procédé d'utilisation d'un amplificateur optique, qui consiste à générer une lumière dans une première bande de longueur d'onde, au moyen d'au moins une diode à pompage, en faisant passer un courant électrique à travers cette ou ces diodes, la température de la diode pouvant varier dans une plage d'au moins 25 degrés C, à transporter la lumière générée par la diode dans cette première bande de longueur d'onde vers l'amplificateur optique, et à utiliser la lumière générée par la diode pour effectuer le pompage optique de l'amplificateur optique. La température de la diode peut varier dans une plage de températures d'au moins 50 degrés C (ou 75 degrés C). Ce procédé assure un fonctionnement et un refroidissement par l'air efficaces de l'amplificateur optique et de la/des diode(s) à pompage, permettant ainsi d'éviter le recours à des dispositifs de refroidissement de diodes à énergie auxiliaire tels que les refroidisseurs thermoélectriques. La diode peut être soit une diode à refroidissement par air, soit une diode large bande.
