Description
Support used to hang metal wire baskets on metal wire supporting frames.
The present patent application refers to a special support used to hang metal wire baskets on metal wire supporting frames contained inside dishwashers, plate-racks and cabinets in general. Metal wire baskets are commonly used inside dishwashers, plate-racks and cupboards to contain cutlery and tableware in an ordered manner. Similar panels are normally hung on metal wire supporting frames fixed inside the body of dishwashers, plate-racks or cabinets of other type. In particular, the basket must be hung on the supporting frame in a removable way, meaning that the user must be able to hook and unhook the basket from the frame, since it is easier to extract the basket from the dishwasher or plate-rack to load or unload it. To that end, the current models of metal wire baskets incorporate two hooks - at least on one side - that are used to hang the basket to a crosspiece of the supporting frame. To ensure that the basket maintains a perfectly horizontal position in spite of its weight, the supporting frame is provided with other crosspieces under the crosspiece where the basket is hung. This coplanar series of crosspieces defines a sort of vertical wall with height slightly lower than the basket height, which touches the wall of the basket on which the two hooks are joined. It appears clear that, without the interference produced by the aforementioned series of crosspieces, because of its weight, the basket (hung to the upper crosspiece) would maintain a very tilted position, with the wall opposite to the wall hooked to the crosspiece facing downwards. On the contrary, the interference between the wall of the basket with the two hooks and the aforementioned series of crosspieces of the supporting structure prevents the basket from oscillating freely while hanging on the
upper crosspiece, thus forcing it to maintain a correct horizontal position. In spite of their large diffusion, the current models of metal wire baskets with hooks are not fully advantageous. First of all, fabrication is complicated by the operations that are necessary to join the hooks to the basket. Moreover, a basket with two hooks on a high-thickness side can only be hung on the supporting frame in an obliged position, that is to say only on a specific section of the supporting frame, i.e. the section compatible with the surface configuration of the basket and its hooking side. The purpose of the present invention is to simplify the fabrication of metal wire baskets - in particular, by eliminating the need to join traditional hooks - and at the same time increase their versatility, with higher freedom of assembly of the different sections of the supporting frame. The inventive idea refers to the realisation of a special support that allows for easy, safe hanging of metal wire baskets in any point of the supporting frame, as needed. The support of the invention has the structure of a plate with vertical development, which ends with a special shaped upper head with transversal cross-section with basically sinusoidal profile. The head has the same length as the aforementioned plate and a slightly larger width. The special structure of the sinusoidal head of the support creates a sort of U-shaped horizontal profile with downward concavity on one side of the plate, and a similar U-shaped horizontal profile with upward concavity on the other side of the plate. The U-shaped downward profile can act as a hook and be hung exactly on any rectilinear section of one of the crosspieces of the fixed frame designed to support metal wire baskets. According to the support of the invention, the U-shaped upward profile in opposite position acts as a sort of saddle, into which a section of one of the crosspieces of metal wire baskets can be inserted and maintained. The support of the invention can be considered as a sort of universal
joint, which allows for hanging metal wire baskets to metal wire supporting frames in any position. Finally, it must be noted that the presence of the long plate under the shaped upper head is justified by the need to offer a continuous stop surface for the metal wire basket hung on the supporting frame (under the weight of cutlery or tableware loaded in the basket), thus maintaining its perfectly horizontal position. It is understood that the plate of the support of the invention can advantageously oppose the fact that the basket tends to assume a sub- horizontal position, as long as the plate can make use of the interference with one vertical section of the supporting frame. For major clarity, the description of the invention continues with reference to the enclosed drawings, which are intended for purposes of illustration only and not in a limiting sense, whereby: - Fig. 1 is an axonometric view of the support of the invention;
- Fig. 2 shows a metal wire basket hung to the metal wire supporting frame by means of two supports according to the invention. With reference to the aforementioned figures, the support of the invention is composed of a thin plate (1) with vertical development provided with a shaped upper head (T) with basically sinusoidal cross-section, having the same length and a considerably larger width with respect to the plate (1 ). The shape of the head (T) creates a U-shaped profile (2) with downward concavity on one side of the plate (1), and a U-shaped profile (3) with upward concavity on the other side of the plate (1 ). With reference to Fig. 2, the downward profile (2) can be used to hang the support (1) to a fixed frame (I) inside a dishwasher or plate-rack, while the upward profile (3) is a sort of saddle into which a rectilinear horizontal section of a metal wire basket (C) designed to be hung on the fixed supporting frame (I) can be inserted.
