Description

FOOD PRODUCTS COMPRISING NATURAL EXTRACTS OR FRAGRANCES OF PLANTS TOGETHER WITH AMINOACIDS AND USE THEREOF FOR FIGHTING SMOKE ADDICTION. DESCRIPTION TECHNICAL FIELD
The present invention relates to food products, for example in the form of sweets or chewing gums, comprising natural extracts and/or fragrances of officinal plants together with a selected combination of aminoacids. Moreover, the present invention relates to the use of said food products for fighting smoke addiction.
STATE OF THE ART The presence on the market of a number of product des- tined to subjects intending to stop smoking or decrease their smoke addiction is known.
Some known products comprise compounds such as nico- tine-substitutives or psychotropic drugs. Sometimes such known products reveals as necessary for overcom- ing the abstinence crisis due to the lack of nicotine supply obtained through the cigarettes.
The existent products on the market are distributed and sold at the chemist's shop, therefore someone who intends to try to stop smoking is obliged to go to the chemist's and consciously buy a product in order to stop smoking. This kind of approach can be received from a smoker like a traumatic way for trying to stop smoking, which leads the same smoker to be discouraged as he feels the attempt of reducing the smoke addic- tion as a sort of obligation to stop smoking. In many subjects, this kind of "obligation" becomes an absolute prohibition.
A less traumatic form which could be used for discouraging many smokers to keep smoking cigarettes or to reduce the number of the same, could be obtained by a product of easy intake, and sold and distributed in the same places in which the smoker goes for buying the cigarettes. Indeed, products on the market that can be bought at the tobacconist's or bars do not exist, since the products available on the market are usually sold at the chemist's as they contain pharmaceutical components. Therefore, food products allowing to fight the smoke addiction do not exist at present, both in a preventive way by decreasing the cigarettes wish, and in a following way as adjuvants in the therapies using other products as well, such as products based on nicotine-sostitutives or psychotropic drugs.
Therefore, there is the need of having on the market a food product which does not show the technical drawbacks of the known art. In particular, there is the need of having a food pro- duct without contraindications even if it is taken for a prolonged time. Further, there is the need of having a food product without contraindications even if it is taken together with other products containing nicotine-substitutives compounds or psychotropic drugs.
PURPOSES OF THE INVENTION
The purpose of the present invention is then to carry out a food product, for instance in the form of a sweet, chewing gum or a confectionery product of sim- pie intake and without contraindications.
Another purpose of the present invention is to carry out a food product, for example in the form of a sweet or chewing gum, usable as adjuvants in the therapies of patients that intend to reduce or stop smoking. A further purpose of the present invention is to carry out a food product, for example in the form of a sweet or a chewing gum, such that it can be taken for time without quantitative limitations, for a time-prolonged intake.
Another purpose of the present invention is to carry out a food product, for example in the form of a sweet or a chewing gum, such that can it be taken together with a treatment based on substitutive nicotine or psychotropic drugs.
Not the last purpose of the invention is to carry out a food product which is able to restore the balance and the psychophysical capacity of the person. These and other purposes that will result apparent from the following detailed description are attained by the Applicant, which suggests a food product for reducing the smoke addiction comprising natural extracts and/or fragrances of plants together with a selected combination of aminoacids. DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
Therefore, a food product, which features are summarized in the independent enclosed claim, forms a first subject of the present invention. The use of natural extracts and/or fragrances of plants, together with a selected combination of aminoacids forms a further subject of the present invention, for the preparation of a food product for reducing the smoke addiction. Further technical features of the present invention are defined within the dependent enclosed claims.
Additional features and advantages of the invention will become more apparent with the -detailed following description of preferred, but not limiting embodiments of food products which are the subject of the present invention.
The applicant has surprisingly found that selected, natural extracts and/or fragrances together with a selected combination of aminoacids is able to develop a synergic effect. Such a synergic effect is capable of reducing, in a smoker, the smoke addiction with respect to the single, separately taken components. Advantageously, the food product in the form of sweets or chewing gums is of easy intake and can be used for reducing smoke and tobacco addiction.
In the context of the present invention, the quantities of the single components of the food product are expressed in weight % based on the total weight of the food product. The food product, which is the subject of the present invention, includes up to a quantity of 30% by weight of natural extracts and/or fragrances of plants. Preferably, said food product comprises a quantity of natural extracts and/or fragrances of plants between 5 to 30% by weight; more preferably, a quantity between 10 and 20% by weight.
Moreover, the food product comprises an aminoacids association up to a 80% by weight. Preferably, said food product comprises aminoacids in a quantity between 10 to 70% by weight; more preferably, a quantity between 20 to 60% by weight. The Applicant has found that a particular aminoacid selection consisted of glycine and proline is able to develop a synergic effect with selected, natural ex- tracts and/or fragrances of plants capable of reducing the smoke addiction in a smoker.
In a preferred embodiment, the food product of the present invention is in the form of sweet or chewing gum. In such an embodiment, the food product comprises a series of additives and/or co-formulations known to people skilled in the art of food products formulation, in a quantity up to 20% by weight. Preferably, the food product includes sorbitol, fruc- tose or glucose in a quantity up to 20% by weight; preferably, a quantity between 5 to 15% by weight. In the case of the chewing gum-like formulation, gum arabic can be used. In a preferred embodiment, subject of the present in- vention, the food product includes vitamin C, for instance in the form of ascorbate palmitate in a quantity up to 30% by weight; more preferably, in a quantity between 5 to 20% by weight. In another preferred embodiment of the invention, the food product furher includes carnitine in a quantity up to 15% by weight, preferably 5 to 15% by weight. By way of example only, some examples of food products are described, according to the subject of the present invention. EXAMPLE 1
