Abstract

The invention relates to a method for production of an inert anode made from cermet NiO-NiFe2O4-M, comprising the preparation of a starting mixture with the precursors of the mixed ceramic phase and the metallic phase with an organic binder, a forming of the mixture such as to produce a green piece of a given form and a sintering of the green piece at a temperature typically above 900 °C in a controlled atmosphere. The proportion of organic binder in the starting mixture is less than 2.0 wt. % and the metallic phase precursor comprises a metallic powder containing copper and nickel. The above method permits a reduction in toxic volatile material emissions with a low addition of oxygen, a reduction in the duration of the binder removal and limitation of the risk of fissures and porosity associated with the binder removal in the gaseous phase in anodes of large dimensions.
