Description
SOUND WAVE GUIDE FOR HEADPHONE AND HEADPHONE CASE USING OF IT
Technical Field The present invention relates to a sound wave guide of headphone and a headphones case using the same, and more particularly, to a sound wave guide of headphone which can reproduce high quality sound and a sound wave of headphones can be freely tuned, and to a headphones case using the same.
Background Art
In conventional headphones, a plurality of speaker units for different channels are horizontally arranged in one direction on a plane to correspond to the ears of a hearer. That is, the conventional headphones intend to simply transfer sound waves generated from the respective speaker units directly to the ears of a hearer. Accordingly, simple and direct sound is generated regardless of the natural characteristic of the sound wave and the taste of a user. Also, since the speaker units of the conventional headphones are quite close to the ears of a hearer, there hardly is a space for forming a sound stage.
Thus, in the conventional headphones, direct sound generated by the respective speaker units arrives directly at the ears of a hearer without being tuned additionally so that the sound makes the hearer very tired. Even if a sound wave guide having a separate sound wave path is provided, since the path is simply linear, it is impossible to adjust the length and diameter of the path considering the characteristic of each channel, due to a limit in the structure. Also, in the conventional headphones, when multi-channels are realized by installing a plurality of speaker units in a single headphone case, it is very difficult to perform a tuning work due to a small space.
Consequently, due to the direct sound and collision or interference between indirect sound that a designer does not intend, sound can be deteriorated to noise. Furthermore, since a preferably dispersion rate of a sound wave is not produced, the sound quality cannot be improved.
Disclosure of Invention
To solve the above and other problems, it is an object of the present invention to provide a sound wave guide of headphones which can reproduce a high quality sound considering the natural characteristic of a sound wave for each speaker unit and the taste of a user by tuning sound waves generated by the speaker units and deliver tuned indirect sound, not a direct sound, to the ears of a hearer, so as to provide a superior sound stage and a sense of reality, and a headphones case using the same.
It is another object of the present invention to provide a sound wave guide of headphones having a space for forming a sound stage and a path of a sound wave formed to have a curved spiral shape not a simple linear shape so that a tuning work to adjust the length and diameter of the path considering the characteristic of each channel is easily performed, thus enabling a sufficient sound tuning in a small space by efficiently arranging the sound wave paths, and a headphone case using the same.
It is yet another object of the present invention to provide a sound wave guide of headphones which can prevent interfering sound and contamination of sound quality and produce a preferable dispersion rate of a sound wave by appropriately mixing multi-channel indirect sounds suitable for characteristics thereof as a designer intends, and a headphone case using the same.
According to an aspect of the present invention, there is provided a sound wave guide for headphones to guide a sound wave generated by at least one speaker unit to an ear of a hearer, the sound wave guide comprising a body installed between the speaker unit and the ear of a hearer, a sound wave inlet portion formed at an upper portion of the body and contacting the speaker unit, a sound wave path portion formed in the body and having an oblong inner space, through which the sound wave propagates, starting from the sound wave inlet portion, in which the inner space is spirally curved at a predetermined curvature in a lengthwise direction of the sound wave path portion; and a sound wave outlet portion formed at lower portion of the body and at an end portion of the sound wave path portion, through which the sound wave passing through the sound wave path portion is exhausted to be delivered to the ear of a hearer.
The sound wave guide is of a convergent type so that a plurality of the sound wave inlet portions are formed at an outer circumferential portion of an upper portion of
the body to be inclined at a predetermined angle toward a center portion of the body, a plurality of the sound wave path portions are formed spirally from the outer circumferential portion of the body toward the center portion thereof, and a plurality of the sound wave outlet portions are formed to converge at a center portion of a lower portion of the body, or of a divergent type so that a plurality of the sound wave inlet portions are formed at a center portion of an upper portion of the body to be inclined at a predetermined angle toward an outer circumferential portion of the body, a plurality of the sound wave path portions are formed spirally from the center portion of the body toward the outer circumferential portion thereof, and a plurality of the sound wave outlet portions are formed to diverge at an outer circumferential portion of a lower portion of the body.
A headphones case using a sound wave guide for headphones including a body installed between a speaker unit and an ear of a hearer to guide a sound wave generated by the speaker unit to the ear of a hearer, a sound wave inlet portion formed at an upper portion of the body and contacting the speaker unit, a sound wave path portion formed in the body and having an oblong inner space, through which the sound wave propagates, starting from the sound wave inlet portion, in which the inner space is spirally curved at a predetermined curvature in a lengthwise direction of the sound wave path portion, and a sound wave outlet portion formed at lower portion of the body and at an end portion of the sound wave path portion, through which the sound wave passing through the sound wave path portion is exhausted to be delivered to the ear of a hearer, the headphone case comprising an enclosure encompassing the body and a rear side of the speaker unit installed on an upper portion of the body and coupled to the body, a ring shaped partition member formed at a lower portion of the body and protruding to a predetermined length to encompass the sound wave outlet portion of a lower portion of the body to form a reverberation space between the lower portion of the body and the ear of a hearer, and cushion member installed along an outer circumference of the partition member and contacting the ear of a hearer.

Best Mode for Carrying Out the Invention Hereinafter, sound wave guides of headphones according to a variety of embodiments of the present invention and headphones cases using the same are described below.
First, referring to FIGS. 1 through 4, a sound wave guide of headphones according to an embodiment of the present invention to guide a sound wave generated by a speaker unit to the ears of a hearer includes a body 11 , a sound wave inlet portion12, a sound wave path portion 13, and a sound wave outlet portion 14.
The body 11 is installed between a speaker unit 1 and the ear of a hearer and has a dish shaped structure manufactured of metal or synthetic resin. The body 11 may be assembled together with an upper portion thereof shown in FIG. 1 and a lower portion thereof shown in FIG. 2 or formed integrally.
The sound wave inlet portion 12 is formed an the upper portion of the body 11 and contacts at least one speaker unit 1 (three speaker units in the drawing). A plurality of the sound wave inlet portions are formed on an upper surface of an outer circumferential portion of the body 11 to be inclined at a predetermined angle and to direct a center portion.
The sound wave path portion 13 is formed in the body 11 , in particular, in an oblong inner space through which a sound wave starting from the sound wave inlet
portion 12 propagates. The inner space is spirally curved at a predetermined curvature in a lengthwise direction thereof. A plurality of the sound wave path portions (three portions on the drawing) are spirally curved from the outer circumferential portion toward the center portion. The sound wave outlet portion 14 is formed at the lower portion of the body 11 at an end portion of the sound wave path portion 12, through which the sound wave passing through the sound wave path portion 13 is output to the ear of the hearer. A plurality of the sound wave outlet portions (three portions on the drawing) converge at the center portion of the lower portion of the body 11. The sound wave inlet portion 12 is formed at an outer circumferential portion of the body 11 while the sound wave outlet portion 14 is formed at the center portion of the body 11. The sound wave path portion 13 having a shape spiraling from the sound wave inlet portion 12 toward the sound wave outlet portion 14 can be referred to as a convergent sound wave guide 10 to make a sound wave converge from the outside toward the inside.
As shown in FIG. 1 , the sound wave path portion 13 has a sound wave guide concave/convex portion 15 which is formed inside in a lengthwise direction thereof to guide the sound wave passes along the sound wave path portion 13, so that the direction of propagation of the sound wave can be guided. As shown in FIG. 2, a sound stage forming protrusion 16 to help formation of a sound stage can be formed at the lower portion of the body 11.
Thus, as shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, the sound wave generated by the speaker unit 1 installed at the outer circumferential portion of the body 11 enters through the sound wave inlet portion 12, passes spirally along the sound wave path portion 13, and is exhausted through the sound wave outlet portion 14. Here, FIG. 3 shows an assembly type body in which the upper portion and the lower portion of the body 11 are separately manufactured and then assembled together.
As shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, a headphones case using the sound wave guide for headphones according to the present embodiment includes, in addition to the body 11 , an enclosure 17 formed to encompass the rear side of the speaker unit 1 that is installed in the upper portion of the body 11 and coupled to the body 11 , a ring shaped partition member 18 formed at the lower portion of the body 11 to protrude a
predetermined length to enclose the sound wave outlet portion 14 of the lower portion of the body 11 to form a reverberation space between the lower portion of the body 11 and the ear of a hearer, and a cushion member 19 installed along the outer circumference of the partition member 18 and forming a cushion contacting the ear of a hearer. When the sound waves generated by the speaker units 1 pass through the sound wave path portion 13 and are exhausted through the sound wave outlet portion 14, the sound waves having the respective characteristics are mixed in the reverberation space formed by the partition member 18 so that a use can hear an appropriately mixed quality sound wave. As the sound wave guide for headphones according to the present invention, in addition to the convergent sound wave guide 10 shown in FIGS. 1 through 4, as shown in FIGS. 5 through 8, a divergent sound wave guide 20 to diverge a sound wave from the center portion to the outer circumferential portion can be adopted.
That is, the divergent sound wave guide 20, as shown in FIG. 5, a plurality of the sound wave inlet portions 12 of the body 11 (three portions on the drawing) are formed at the center portion of the upper portion of the body 11 to be inclined at a predetermined angle to direct the outer circumferential portion of the body 11. A plurality of the sound wave path portions 13 of the body 11 (three portions on the drawing) are formed to spirally spread outwardly from the center portion. A shown in FIG. 6, a plurality of the sound wave outlet portions 14 of the body 11 are formed at the outer circumferential portion of the lower portion of the body 11 to be separated from one another.
Thus, as shown in FIGS. 7 and 8, the sound wave generated by the speaker unit 1 installed at the center portion of the body 11 enters through the sound wave inlet portion 12, passes spirally along the sound wave path portion 13, and is exhausted through the sound wave outlet portion 14. Here, FIG. 7 shows an assembly type body in which the upper portion and the lower portion of the body 11 are separately manufactured and then assembled together.
As shown in FIGS. 7 and 8, a headphones case using the sound wave guide for headphones according to the present embodiment includes, in addition to the body 11 , the enclosure 17 formed to encompass the rear side of the speaker unit 1 that is installed in the upper portion of the body 11 and coupled to the body 11 , the ring
shaped partition member 18 formed at the lower portion of the body 11 to protrude a predetermined length to enclose the sound wave outlet portion 14 of the lower portion of the body 11 to form a reverberation space between the lower portion of the body 11 and the ear of a hearer, and the cushion member 19 installed along the outer circumference of the partition member 18 and forming a cushion contacting the ear of a hearer.
The enclosure 17 independently encompasses the rear side of each speaker unit 1. Each enclosure 17 has an opening/closing plug 30 to selectively exhaust a harmonic tone of the speaker unit 1 generated from the rear side of the speaker unit 1 (to select the open type or closed type of the speaker unit). As shown in FIG. 8, the partition member 18 has an inclined surface 40 inwardly inclined to reflect the sound wave exhausted through the sound wave outlet portion 14 in a desired direction. Thus, the sound wave can be reflected toward the ear of a hearer or a desired position in the reverberation space.
Therefore, as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 and FIGS. 5 and 6, various diameters D1 , D2, and D3 of the sound wave inlet portions 12, various lengths L1 , L.2, and L3 of the sound wave path portion 13 spirally curved, and various diameters d1 , d2, and d3 of the sound wave outlet portions 14 for the guided sound waves can be tuned in an optical state corresponding to the sizes of the speaker units 1 responsible for high, mid, and low ranges considering the characteristics of reproduced high, mid, and low sounds. Simultaneously, the multi-channel speaker units can be efficiently arranged in a small space.
While this invention has been particularly shown and described with reference to preferred embodiments thereof, it will be understood by those skilled in the art that various changes in form and details may be made therein without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as defined by the appended claims. For example, although the embodiments of the present invention are limited to three channels for each ear, that is, a total of 6 channels, a variety of multi-channel speaker units can be
applied. Also, the curvature of the curved sound wave path portion or the spiral shape thereof can be modified within a range of a technical concept of the present invention.
Industrial Applicability As described above, according to the sound wave guide of headphones according to the present invention, and a headphone case using the same, a high quality sound is reproduced considering the natural characteristic of a sound wave for each speaker unit and the taste of a user by tuning sound waves generated by the speaker units. Since tuned indirect sound, not a direct sound, is delivered to the ears of a hearer, a superior sound stage and a sense of reality are provided. A space for forming a sound stage exists. Since a path of a sound wave spirally curved, not simply linear, a tuning work to adjust the length and diameter of the path considering the characteristic of each channel is easily performed. Thus, a sufficient sound tuning in a small space is produced by efficiently arranging the sound wave paths.
