Abstract

The invention relates to a spinning material comprising N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide (NMMO) containing water, cellulose dissolved therein, said cellulose being pre-treated in order to increase the solubility thereof, at least one organic and/or inorganic filler which is soluble or insoluble in NMMO containing water, and at least one component which is dissolved in the spinning material and which impedes the structure of cellulose precipitated during regeneration. Preferably, said component is a protein such as casein or zein. Preferably, the filler is finely ground bran. Preferably, the spinning material also contains undissolved fibres which are 50 µm - 2 mm long. An edible or consumable food casing, especially a sausage casing, can be produced from said spinning material.
