Abstract

The invention relates to a toilet cleaning device (1) having a holder (10) with a handle (2) and an extension (3) for releasably holding a biologically degradable, disposable cleaning element (4) in an interlocking or non-positive manner. The cleaning element (4) is provided with an adapter fitting (42) for insertion and for producing the connection to the extension (3) and a cleaning pad (41). A mechanism for producing and/or releasing the interlocking and/or non-positive fit connection between the extension (3) and the adapter fitting (42) of the cleaning element (4) is arranged in the holder. The novel toilet cleaning device replaces unhygienic toilet brushes currently in use. After performing a successful cleaning operation, the cleaning elements disclosed in the invention can be disposed of in the toilet bowl or a garbage can without any direct contact. No additional environmental impact occurs due to the fact that the cleaning elements are preferably made of renewable, biologically degradable materials such as cellulose or waste paper.
