Abstract

An apparatus (10) comprises at least one source (14) for emitting optical waves. An inner sample compartment (26) arranged to receive a sample comprising particles of solid organic matter and a liquid and being disposed such that at least part of the sample compartment is arranged in a propagation path of the optical waves a detector (16) arranged to receive optical waves, reflected and/or scattered by the sample and to supply a signal dependent on the same to recording means (20) arranged to correlate the recorded signal with stored parameters enabling a prediction related to at least one chemical constituent of the sample.
