Abstract
The 'easy-splice-aid' is made out of fibers / yarns properly braided together in that a way that 'flexible tube' is formed, allowing the rope-end to be used to fit in and provide easily a spliced eye to any rope we intend to use.
Description
EASY-SPLICE-AID
The invention refers to the easy-fit of the ready rope-splice to the end of any other rope; thus making it simple to have a ready - spliced rope.
Till now, splices on board are usually done by specialized riggers, boatswains etc and consist a quite difficult, time-consuming and often even impossible task, for the following reasons:
(a) There is a very big variety of types of ropes in the market, each of them requiring a special splicing method - that not every rigger can be familiar with.
(b) Splicing an already used rope is often very difficult, as usually the ropes become hard and inelastic after multiple tensioning.
The advantages of the invention are described below:
(a) Anyone can easily fit the "ready-splice-aid" to the different rope types found in the market - without having to be a specialized rigger.
(b) By fitting the "ready-splice-aid" it becomes possible to re-use ropes that have been hardened after use and splicing was impossible due to the "stiffness" of the rope.
(c) The "easy-splice-aid", alternatively, could be used in such a way that could "travel" parallel to the main rope axis and be secured at the required point, thus allowing a length adjustment of the mooring line.
The "easy-splice-aid" has a cylindrical form, the main principal of which is that it is produced in such a way that the main rope "fits in".
The aid can be produced in:
(a) Different shapes (depending on the way we intend to use it) (b) Different dimensions (depending on the diameter of the rope diameter to be fitted in)
(c) Different raw materials (depending on whether we want the easy-splice- aid to float or not, to elongate or not etc.)
Hence, the "easy-splice-aid" fulfills the exact needs we occasionally have.
Some ways of using the "easy-splice-aid" are described in reference to the following drawings:
In Figure 1 the "easy-splice-aid", made out of fibers, is properly braided in such a way that a "tube" is formed. At the one side we form an easy splice and at the other end the main rope is easily attached (fitted in).
In figure 2, the "easy-splice-aid" is produced in such a way that three holes have been created, by the proper use of which an adjustable splice can easily be formed.
In Figure 3, the "easy-splice-aid" can travel among the main rope axis and be secured at the required point.
Claims
The claim of the invention is to provide the user with an aid that will help him to form a splice at any rope.
The "easy-splice-aid" is made out of yarns, properly braided in such a way that the rope end to be used could fit in.
The "easy-splice-aid" is a "braided tube", properly constructed in such a way that can easily be adjusted at a rope, in order to create a splice.
