Abstract

The present invention generally relates to a liquid crystal display and a manufacturing method thereof. A liquid crystal display comprising: a lower substrate, substrate having a thin film transistor which consisting of a source electrode, a gate electrode, and a drain electrode, and controlling a data signal of the image, a storage capacitor connected to the thin film transistor in parallel, a pixel electrode receiving the data signal inputted from the drain electrode, and applying the electric field to the liquid crystal, a contact hole contacting the pixel electrode with the drain electrode, pillars formed in an upper part of the contact hole, whose lower parts are inserted into the contact hole, and having uniform height, and an alignment layer orienting the liquid crystal; an upper substrate, upper substrate having uniform cell gaps with the lower substrate by the pillars, and having an opposite electrode; and the liquid crystal.
