  • the edge radius is obtained through giving the sheet metal a flange/fold along said side portions.
  • the edge radius of the side portion causes a favourable distribution of the forces between the clamp and the cable, to ensure that the electrically insulating material of the cable is not overloaded during a short circuit.
  • the electrical insulating material of the cables will remain intact, allowing the normal operating voltage to be applied after the short circuit failure has been corrected.
  • the cross sectional opening of the clamp in the longitudinal direction of the cables is shaped so as to support the cables
  • the clamp is also formed in such a way as to simplify the installation work to the greatest possible extent.

  • the hinge plate 4 is connected to the bow 2 by means of a hinge 8, while at the opposite end, it is provided with through bores 10 corresponding to similar through bores 12 in the bow 2.
  • the cross sections of the bow 2 and the hinge plate 4, see figure 3, are shaped as a folded plate structure in which the central portion 17 of the cross section abuts the cable 16, and where the flanges (folds) 18 are formed in a way such that the side portions of the cable clamp 1 exhibit a relatively large, convex outside radius 20.
  • the cross sectional opening of the cable clamp 1 relative to the longitudinal direction of the cable 16 will in the working position form a triangle with truncated corners.
  • the cross sectional shape will allow three cables 16 of a suitable diameter to be secured in an advantageous manner, see figure 1, or a cable or bundle of cables 22 having a larger diameter to be secured in the clamp, see figure 4.
  • the cable clamp 1 When the cables 16 are to be installed, the cable clamp 1 is coupled to the base (not shown) by means of the fixing bolt 6.
  • the cables 16 are arranged in the cable clamp 1, whereupon the hinge plate 4 is closed by using the fastening bolts 14.
