Abstract

The invention relates to a capillary rheometer for determining rheological properties of polymer melts, especially the viscosity thereof. Said rheometer comprises a channel (5) for receiving a test material, a nozzle (1) sealing the channel (5), and a die (6) which is introduced into the channel (5) in a positively engaging manner and is used to extrude the test material through the nozzle (1). In view of a rapid and simple analysis of the samples, the inventive capillary rheometer is characterised by a cleaning unit (7) comprising at least one brush (11, 12, 18, 27) for mechanically cleaning the channel (5) and/or the die (6) and/or the front side (19) of the nozzle facing the channel (5). According to the invention, said capillary rheometer is provided with a sample loading system (20) comprising a sample store (21) for receiving the samples and a displaceable gripping arm (24) for transporting the samples from the sample store (21) into the channel (5).
