Abstract

A method for identifying the biological age of a DNA sample from a subject, said method comprising subjecting the sample to exonucleolytic digestion by an enzyme so as to partially remove end regions of said DNA, and detecting the presence of a DNA sequence normally found at the terminal region of the DNA. Determination of biological age may be useful for comparison with chronological age in diverse situations including predisposition to malignancy, in research into ageing, in the determination of particular therapies or remedies for age related conditions including those of old age, or in forensics.
