FLEXIBLE PACKAGE CONVEYANCE DEVICE FOR AUTOMATIC PACKAGING MACHINES
Technical sector of the invention
The object of the invention is a flexible package conveyance device for automatic packaging machines, particularly for automatic packaging machines for liquid, granulated, ground, or powdered food products.
Background to the invention
Multiple embodiments of automatic packaging machines are known, of the type which essentially comprise a shaping train for flexible packages, obtained from a thermoweldable material laminate, and a packaging train, made up of flexible packaging conveyance means, package filling means with the product to be packaged, and closing means of the filled flexible packages. In this type of automatic packaging machine, the shaping train for flexible packages can be replaced by supply means for ready-made flexible packages.
The flexible packaging conveyance means of the packaging train, convey the flexible packages sequentially through the package filling means and the filled package closing means; essentially, such conveyance means comprise a conveyor that describes a closed trajectory, coupled to which are a plurality of conveyance devices, intended for the securing of one, or more, flexible pack- ages. The known embodiments of conveyance devices like the ones cited earlier, proceed to the securing of the flexible packages by their longitudinal ends, and in such a way that the packages are arranged parallel with regard to the theoretical longitudinal axis of the packaging train. Such an arrangement of flexible packages constitutes a determining factor in all those aspects which lead to the transfer of the packages from the package shaping train, or from the supply means for ready-made packages, to the conveyance devices of the conveyance means of the packaging train, a factor which limits, reducing the number of flexible packages to be conveyed by the conveyance device, and, at the same
time, the adaptation of the latter to the size of the flexible package becomes complex and, as a result, costly.
Explanation of the invention
The flexible package conveyance device for automatic packaging machines, object of the invention, is applicable to packaging machines of the type which comprise a packaging train provided with package conveyance means, which convey them sequentially from empty flexible package supply means through package filling means and filled package closing means.
The conveyance device of the invention is characterised by comprising first package securing means and second package securing means, which are coupled to each other and to the conveyance means, the first securing means being adapted for the securing of at least one package at a longitudinal end of same, whereas the second securing means are adapted for the securing at the other longitudinal end of the package or packages secured by the first securing means, the package or packages secured by the first and second securing means being arranged perpendicularly as regards the theoretical longitudinal axis of the packaging train, with the first and second package securing means being capable of mutual, alternative movement between a first adjustable position, in which the longitudinal ends of each package are arranged in the package closing position, and a second adjustable position, in which said longitudinal ends are arranged in the package filling position.
In accordance with another feature of the conveyance device according to the invention, the first securing means comprise a support, and to each side of same and equidistant, a first shaft and a second shaft, all being situated parallel and coplanar to each other, the first shaft and the second shaft being capable of rotation in both directions around their respective longitudinal axes, and in that the second securing means comprise a tubular support coaxial with the support of the first securing means, and a first tubular shaft and a second tubular shaft which are coaxial with the first shaft and the second shaft respectively of the first securing means, the first tubular shaft and the second tubular shaft being
capable of rotation in both directions around their respective longitudinal axes, the supports and the shafts of the first and second securing means being coupled in such a way that they can be moved longitudinally and simultaneously in both directions by sliding over each other.
It is also a feature of the conveyance device of the invention that the support of the first securing means is provided with a plurality of pincer arms, each of them forming groups made up of two pincer arms arranged coplanar to each other, the groups being separated equidistant from the one adjoining it.
According to another feature of the invention, the first shaft and the second shaft of the first securing means are provided with respective pincer arms, coinciding in number and position with the groups of pincer arms of the support, all adapted in such a way that a pincer arm of a group of pincer arms of the support, and a pincer arm of the corresponding shaft, configure a pincer for the securing of one longitudinal end of a package.
Another feature of the conveyance device of the invention consists of the tubular support of the second securing means, being provided with a plurality of pincer arms, forming groups, each of them being made up of two pincer arms arranged coplanar to each other, the groups being separated equidistant from the one adjoining it.
In accordance with another feature of the conveyance device according to the invention, the first tubular shaft and the second tubular shaft of the second securing means are provided with respective pincer arms, coinciding in number and position with the groups of pincer arms of the support, all adapted in such a way that a pincer arm of a group of pincer arms of the tubular support and a pincer arm of the corresponding tubular shaft, configure a pincer for the securing of the other longitudinal end of the package.
Brief description of the drawings
Illustrated in the attached drawings by way of non-limiting example, is a mode of embodiment of the conveyance device for flexible packages, for automatic packaging machines, object of the invention. In said drawings:

Detailed description of the drawings
Represented in Fig. 1 is the flexible package 2 conveyance device 1 , for automatic packaging machines object of the invention. For the purposes of simplification, the flexible package 2 conveyance, filling and closing means of the packaging train of an automatic packaging train have not been represented, it being highlighted on this point that the conveyance device 1 is coupled to said conveyance means through activating means, not shown herein, whose working on the flexible package 2 conveyance device 1 of the invention shall be explained later.
The conveyance device 1 comprises first flexible package 2 securing means 3, represented in Figs. 2 and 3, and second flexible package 2 securing means 4, represented in Figs. 4 and 5, whereas in Figs. 1 , 6 and 7 the first and
second securing means 3 and 4 have been shown mutually coupled. Represented by means of an intermittent line in Figs. 1 and 7, is the theoretical longitudinal axis of the packaging train, not herein represented, which has been indicated as X-X, it being observed that the packages 2 are arranged perpen- dicularly as regards said axis X-X.
The first securing means 3 comprise a support 5 in circular transversal section, and on each side of same and equidistant, a first shaft 7 and a second shaft 7', also in circular transversal section, all having equal length and being arranged parallel and coplanar with respect to the other, the first shaft 7 and the second shaft 7', being capable of turning in both directions around their respective longitudinal axes, said directions being indicated as A and B in Fig. 3. The support 5 is provided with a total of three groups 8 of pincer arms 9, each group 8 being made up of two pincer arms 9 arranged coplanar to the other and separated equidistant from the one adjoining it, wherein it can be observed in Figs. 2 and 3 that the two pincer arms of each group 8 are linked at their lower end by means of a linking portion 10 arranged below the support 5 and fixed to the same, whereas the upper end of each pincer arm 9 is provided with a securing portion 11. The first shaft 7 is provided with three pincer arms 9' arranged facing the three pincer arms 9 of the corresponding side of support 5, whereas the second shaft 7' is provided with another three pincer arms 9', arranged facing the other three pincer arms 9 of the support 5, it being observed in Figs. 2 and 3 that the lower end of the pincer arms 9' is fixed to the corresponding shaft 7, 7' underneath the same, whereas the upper end of each pincer arm 9' is provided with a securing portion 11', in correspondence with that of the pincer arm 9 facing it. With this arrangement of the first securing means 3, a total of six securing pincers 6 are configured, three pincers 6 on either side of the support 5, see Figs. 1 and 7, each of them being made up of a pincer arm 9 of the support 5 and a pincer arm 9' of the corresponding shaft 7 or 7', each pincer 6 being adapted for the securing of a longitudinal end of a flexible package 2, as shown in Figs. 1 and 7.
The securing means 4 comprise a tubular support 12, and on either side of same and equidistant to it, a first tubular shaft 13 and a second tubular shaft 13', all being of equal length and arranged parallel and coplanar to the other, the first tubular shaft 13 and the second tubular shaft 13' being capable of turning in both directions around their respective longitudinal axes, said directions being indicated as A' and B' in Fig. 5. The tubular support 12 is provided with a total of three groups 14 of pincer arms 15, each group 14 being made up of two pincer arms 15 arranged coplanar to the other, the groups 14 being separated equidistant from the one adjoining it, wherein it can be observed in Figs. 4 and 5 that the pincer arms 15 of each group 14 are linked at their lower end by means of a linking portion 16 arranged above the tubular support 12 and fixed to the same, whereas the upper end of each pincer arm 15 is provided with a securing portion 17. The first tubular shaft 13 is provided with three pincer arms 15' arranged facing the three pincer arms 15 of the corresponding side of tubular support 12, whereas the second tubular shaft 13' is provided with another three pincer arms 15', arranged facing the other three pincer arms 15 of the tubular support 12, it being observed in Figs. 4 and 5 that the lower end of the pincer arms 15' is fixed to the corresponding tubular shaft 13, 13' above the same, whereas the upper end of each pincer arm 15' is provided with a securing portion 17', in correspon- dence with that of the pincer arm 15 facing it. In a similar way to that described for the first securing means 3, with this arrangement of the second securing means 4, a total of six securing pincers 18 are configured, three securing pincers 18 on either side of the tubular support 12, see Figs. 1 and 7, each of them being made up of a pincer arm 15 of the tubular support 12 and a pincer arm 15' of the corresponding tubular shaft 13 or 13', each pincer 18 being adapted for the securing of the other longitudinal end of a flexible package 2, as shown in Figs. 1 and 7.
Represented in Fig. 6 are the first securing means 3 and the second securing means 4, mutually coupled, in such a way that the first shaft 7, the support 5 and the second shaft 7' of the first securing means 3 are housed inside the first tubular shaft 13 of the tubular support 12 and of the second tubular shaft
13', respectively, of the second securing means 4, said coupling being done in
such a way that the first securing means 3, and the second securing means 4, are capable of axial, mutual and alternative movement. In this embodiment example, the conveyance device of the invention is adapted for transporting a total of six packages 2, it being understood that the number of packages 2 to be conveyed, given by the number pairs of pincers 6 and 18, may be any other and adapted to the needs posed by the application of each specific case.
The operation of the flexible package conveyance device, for automatic packaging machines, object of the invention, is described below. Represented in Fig. 1 is the conveyance device of the invention, with the first and second securing means 3 and 4 occupying a first position, in which the longitudinal ends of the packages 2 are arranged in the package closing position; this closing position corresponds with the receiving position of the packages proceeding from the package 2 supply means and with the package 2 closing position, once filled with the product to be packaged, on this point it being highlighted that the position of the first and second securing means, which is adjustable for adapting to the size of the packages 2, is determined by the action of said activating means, not represented, which act simultaneously on the shafts 7 and 7' and the support 5 of the first securing means 3, and on the tubular shafts 13, 13' and the tubular support 12 of the second securing means 4, causing the approaching or distancing of the corresponding pair of pincers 6 and 18 that secure each flexible package 2, wherein it can be observed that the securing pincers 6 of the first securing means 3 and the securing pincers 18 of the second securing means 4, secure the opposite longitudinal ends of the packages 2, in such a way that the latter occupy the closed position indicated. In Fig. 7, said activating means act on the first and second securing means 3 and 4, in such a way that an axial movement of the same takes place, indicated as C and D, and the resulting approaching of the pairs of pincers 6 and 18 that secure each package 2, all in such a way that the approaching of the longitudinal ends of each package 2 and its opening takes place, being arranged for filling with the product to be packaged; once the filling of the packages 2 has been done, a movement of the first and second securing means 3, 4 in the opposite direction to that of the previous one, will cause the distancing of the pairs of pincers 6 and 18 that secure the packages 2,
placing them in the closing position by the distancing of their longitudinal ends, for their subsequent closure by means of welding, the device of the invention being ready to receive other packages 2 from the package supply means, prior to the opening of the pincers 6 and 18 of the first and second securing means 3 and 4.
