Abstract

La présente invention concerne une architecture de réseaux hiérarchisés comprenant des procédés et un appareil pour la mise en oeuvre d'un système de désignation d'adresse MAC hiérarchisé. Selon l'invention, les adresses physiques de tous les noeuds ou éléments de réseau d'un réseau hiérarchisé à plusieurs anneaux sont affectées de façon hiérarchisée. La mise en oeuvre de celle logique d'adressage MAC hiérarchisé diminue de façon importante la taille des tables de mémoire associative nécessaires à la manipulation des trames de données. De la même façon, la structure de réseau hiérarchisé permet la mise en oeuvre de mécanismes décisionnels simples pour la commutation des trames de données en direction de leurs destinations. Grâce à ce mécanisme, il est possible d'acheminer les trames de données au travers du hiérarchisé décrit jusqu'au noeud de destination, rapidement et facilement, en ne se servant que de circuits matériels simple qui analyse l'information d'en-tête située au début de la trame de données. Cette structure de réseau hiérarchisé est par nature compatible avec les fonctions de diffusion sélective et d'émission en circuit ouvert. En outre, elle admet les extensions nécessaires aux réseaux grandes distances, par incorporation d'une information de code de zone dans l'adresse MAC. En outre, les longueurs de zones à l'intérieur de l'adresse MAC peuvent être adaptées avec souplesse pour répondre aux demandes réelles pendant le déploiement du réseau.
