Abstract

A rollator is disclosed. It comprises a stand (1), in the lower portion provided with four wheels (12, 13), of which at least two are journalled, turnable around substantially vertical shafts, and is provided, in the upper portion, with handle (10). The rollator is especially characterised in that it comprises a chair to facilitate for persons with limited movement ability to sit down and to rise, whereas the stand (1) holds a seat (4) which may be elevated or lowered by a preferably electrical first set device (2), between an upper and a lower position.

Description

Rollator
The present invention relates to a rollator, comprising a stand, in the lower portion provided with four wheels, of which at least two are journalled, turnable around substantially vertical shafts, and is provided, in the upper portion, with handle.
Such rollators exist since a long time. They are, however, only intended as walking aid for movement disabled persons. There is, however, a demand for rollators with wider functions. The object of the present invention is thus to provide such a rollator of the art mentioned introductorily. It is primarily characterised in that it comprises a chair to facilitate for persons with limited movement ability to sit down and to rise, whereas the stand holds a seat which may be elevated or lowered by a preferably electrical first set device, between an upper and a lower position.
In one alternative embodiment the seat is tiltable around a shaft between a substantially horizontal sit position and a position, tilting forwards.
In one preferred embodiment of the rollator a second, preferably electrical set device is provided, acting upon brake means acting upon the basis of the wheels, stabilizing the stand in relationship to the basis.
The rollator according to the invention is disclosed in the following, reference being made to the enclosed schematic figures, of which figure 1 shows a side view of a first embodiment of a rollator according to the invention, with the seat in a lower, substantially horizontal position, figure 2 shows a side view of the rollator in figure 1 with the seat in an upper position, tilting forwards, igure 3 shows a side view of an alternate embodiment, with the seat in a lower position, while figure 4 shows a side view of the rollator in figure 3 with the seat in an upper posiiton.
In the figures a stand is marked by 1, at which a vertical electrical set device 2 is mounted. In this set device a rod 3 is vertically displaceable. In the figures 1 and
2 there is shown an embodiment, where a seat 4 is tiltably journalled in a vertical, not shown shaft, fastened in the rod 3. The seat 4 is connected to a back support 5. A stop 6 in the form of a substantially horizontal pin is attached to the rod 3. At the lower side of the seat the is provided a loop 19. This embraces the pin and limits the tilting forwards of the seat. A small piston- cylinder 7 acts as a gas spring without pressure and is journalled at the forward portion of the seat 4 and down at the set device 2. The piston- cylinder acts as a stop for the seat when this is in its upper position, whilst the piston- cylinder presses up the forward portion of the seat when the seat is in its lower position, such that seat lies at the stop 6. The seat will follow the natural position of the body when a person sits down at the seat or rises from there. At the upper end of the rod there is provided a horizontal sheet, its upper side is provided with a relatively soft pad 9. At the sheet two handles 10 are attached, of which only one is shown in the figures. At the end of one of the handles there is manoeuvre button 11, to control the electrical set device 2.
In the figures 3 and 4 there is shown a simpler embodiment, where the seat 4 keeps its substantially horizontal position when the seat is at its lower and upper position.
The stand is provided with two loops, kept together by not shown stays. At the ends of the loops two wheels 12 are journalled below the handles 10. They are provided with not shown brake blocks, which are acted upon by brake handles 13 at the handles 10. At the other loop ends two wheels 14 are journalled at vertical shafts, which are turnable in relationship to the stand 1. Above these wheels 14 brake means in the form of brake loops 15 are journalled at the stand 1. At the lower ends 16 of the brake loops 15 there are provided plugs of relatively hard rubber. The brake loops may be swung downwards by the aid of further electrical set devices 17, whereby they stabilize, that is to say brake the stand in relationship to the basis, at which the wheels rest. This electrical set device is activated by manoeuvre means 18 up at the sheet 8, and an accumulator 20 acts as energy source. The brake loops 15 are used when the person using the rollator sits down or rises from the seat 4.
