Description

Working Table for a Vehicle Chair.
Technical Area
Working table for a car seat, comprising a base that is adapted to be fixed, directly or indirectly, to the floor ofthe car, a column that is attached to the base and, arranged to the column, a mounting plate for a computer. The working table's primary use is as a computer table and it is to be mounted by the passenger seat next to the driver's seat in a car.
Background
There are several working tables, similar to the one mentioned in the introduction, to be mounted in cars and used as work stations/computer tables by the driver. Other known constructions are, however, mounted in the passenger seat or on the floor ofthe car and have to be dismouted and placed out ofthe way when a passenger needs to use the seat. The purpose of this invention is to solve the problem of having to dismount the working table, instead it folds completely and does not intrude on the passenger seat next to the driver.
Description ofthe Invention
The invention is a working table, comprising a base that is adapted to be fixed, directly or indirectly, to the floor of a car, a column that is attached to the base and, arranged to the column, a mounting plate for, as an example, a computer. Within the invention's range of use lies also the possibility to work as a writing desk, for general office work. The column is collapsible and pivotable around an axis, between an essentially vertical, upright position, in which a computer is located on the mounting plate, and a downward position, in which the mounting plate is located essentially below the bottom ofthe car seat.
Figure imgf000002_0001
keep, for example, a computer in place on the mounting plate, which might make up the bottom ofthe protective box, or the mounting plate might be equipped with a bottom, which will, together with the lid, make up the protective box.
In an alternative version ofthe invention the pivotal axis might extend perpendicular to the front ofthe car seat, in order to make the column foldable sideways, along the front ofthe car seat so that the mounting plate might be placed either along the front ofthe car seat or along the side ofthe car, when the working table is folded.
The invention's range of use also comprises the possibility to mount the working table on other car seats, for example the back passenger seat, and also to use it in other vehicles, e.g. buses, boats and airplanes.
Further distinctive features and details concerning the invention will be clear from the description ofthe figure sheet below, and by the patent requirements.
Description for Figure Sheet
The invention is being described below, with reference to the attached figure sheet. The description does not limit the universality ofthe invention according to the patent requirements.
Fig. 1 shows a working table in an upright working position by the passenger seat and beside the driver's seat in a car.
Fig. 2 shows the working table ace. to fig. 1 in a folded position in front ofthe car seat.
Fig. 3 shows the working table ace. to fig. 2 folded down into a protective box.
The working table, as shown in fig. 1, comprises a base (1), which consists of a rail (1.1), which, in turn, has elongated holes (1.2), to which angular brackets (1.3), are screwed on. The angular brackets (1.3), respectively has elongated openings (1.4), in the part that points out from the rail (1.1), made for securing screws. A car seat (2), is shown with dotted lines, fastened to the floor ofthe car, slideable, through the normal rails, which are not shown in the figure. The angular brackets (1.3), are mounted at the front end ofthe two rails respectively, by means of screws which point up through the opening (1.4).
A column (3), showing a telescopic part (3.1), is mounted on one end ofthe foot's (1 ), rail (1.1 ). In the example the car seat (2), is a passenger seat placed to the right ofthe driver's seat. The column (3), shows an attachment (3.2), on which the telescopic part (3.1), is arranged to be collapsible forward in relation to the car seat (2), around a horisontal axis (3.3), which is parallel with the front ofthe car seat. A horisontal arm (3.4), is arranged by the free end ofthe telescopic part ofthe column (3.1). A mounting plate (4), for a computer is arranged on the arm (3.4), and tumable around the direction of the arm's (3.4), longitudinal axis. The mounting plate (4), is in itself telescopically extensible and retractable. While the telescopic part (3.1), is tumable around it's own axis direction, the mounting plate (4), can when in upright position, be turned around as well a vertical as a horisontal axis direction and be adjusted to the desired position in relation to the driver's seat. The telescopic part (3.1), is lockable in the desired position, height as well as angle, by means of a locking device by the top part ofthe column.
Fig. 2 shows the working table in a folded position in front ofthe car seat (2), the column is folded forward around the axis (3.3), and the telescopic part (3.1), has been retracted. The mounting plate (4), has been turned around the arm (3.4), so that it is positioned more or less parallel to the column (3). With the working table in this position it is possible for a passenger to sit in the passenger seat (2), and have his/her legs in front ofthe working table.
Fig. 3 shows the working table in a folded position and with the mounting plate (4) arranged to fit in a protective box (5), which comprises a bottom (5.1), that is closeable with a lid (5.2). The bottom (5.1), is in the example attached to the mounting plate (4), but can be mounted to the car in several different ways, for example directly to the floor ofthe car. The lid (5.2), can be raised and lowered by means of hinges, and lockable by means of a locking device for the bottom (5.1). These details are of a known kind and are not shown in fig. 3. Alternatively, the mounting plate (4), might make up the bottom (5.1), ofthe protective box (5).
Furthermore, the protective box might be equipped with a, preferably electric, signalling device, which gives off a signal if the car is started without the column (3), being in a folded position and, possibly, the lid (5.2), being closed, or even locked, to the bottom (5.1). Alternatively this function might be connected to the starting device ofthe car so that the car can not be started if the column (3), is not folded, and possibly the lid (5.2) is closed, or even locked. Alternatively the signalling device might be connected to the braking system ofthe car, e.g. the parking brake, where there will be a signal if the parking brake is released when the column (3), is not folded, and possibly the lid (5.2) is not closed, or locked. There might also be a signal if the driver leaves the car and locks the doors without closing and locking the lid (5.2).
