Description

METHOD FOR IMRPOVING THE WASHING PERFORMANCE OF A DISHWASHER
The present invention relates to a method that provides an improved washing performance in the dishwashers.
The operational cycle of the dish washers consists, in general, of the pre- washing, main washing, rinsing and drying phases. The rinsing phase comprises at least two parts, namely, first rinsing and last rinsing. The pre-washing and first rinsing phases are generally realized by using cold water, whereas for the main washing and last rinsing phases, warm water is used. For delicate material, such as glass ware, passing from a warm phase to a cold phase creates a thermal shock effect and the risk of glass corrosion. The first rinsing step is realized by using cold or lukewarm water and the last rinsing step is realized at a temperature above 50°C degrees in order to activate the rinsing agent used. The dishwasher may operate at a temperature between 40-65°C according to the program chosen by the user, during the main washing stage, before the first rinsing. In spite of the high temperature values attained during the main washing and last rinsing stages, water used for the first rinsing is received directly from the water inlet and may be cold. These fluctuations of temperature in subsequent stages have negative impacts on the delicate objects being washed in the dishwasher, such as the glassware.
In the German Patent No. 2730489, water to be used in the rinsing phases is taken to an auxiliary water tank during the previous phases, thus water is tepefied here by heat transfer. In this way, water received from outside the machine for rinsing is not used directly, a more tepid water is used.
In the German Patent No. 19758064, the main washing water is taken in the machine during pre-washing phase and is warmed by circulating it around the washing tank, thus providing economy of time. The object of the present invention is to enhance the washing performance of the dishwashers.
The method for improving the washing performance in dish washers, developed to attain the object of the present invention has been illustrated in the attached drawing, wherein:
Figure 1 is the schematic view of the dishwasher.
The components shown in the drawing have been enumerated separately as shown below:
1. Dish washer
2. Washing tub 3. Sump
4. Circulation pump
5. Discharge pump
6. Multi-way valve
7. By-pass line 8. Heater
The dish washer (1) comprises a washing tub (2) in which the objects to be washed are placed, a sump (3) at the lower portion of the washing tub (2), wherein water in the washing tub (2) is collected during the washing process, a heater (8) used for heating the washing water, a circulation pump (4) that directs the water collected in the sump (3) back to the washing tub (2), a discharge pump (5) for discharging the water collected in the sump (3) to outside the dishwasher (1) at the end of the washing process, a multi-way valve (6) connected to the outlet of the circulation pump (4) and a by-pass line (7) that connects the sump (3) and the multi-way valve (6). In the dishwashers (1), washing process is generally realized in four stages, namely, pre-washing, main washing, rinsing and drying. When the dishwasher (1) starts to run, first the prewashing step is realized, wherein the coarse dirt of the objects placed in the dishwasher is removed. After the completion of the prewashing step, the objects are cleaned from all dirts and fatty subtances in the main washing step. Then, the rinsing step comprising at least two phases is started in order to clean off the detergent remained on the objects washed during the main washing step. The washing process is completed by the realization of the drying step, to dry the objects after the first and second rinsing steps.
Following the steps using warm water, such as main washing, in the washing step wherein cold water is used, such as in the first rinsing step, water is taken in the disk washer (1), and the circulation pump (4) is activated by the control unit. Water in the sump (3) is sucked in by the multi-way valve (6) and directed back to the sump (3) over the by-pass line (7). Meanwhile the heater (8) is activated to subject the water to a pre-heating process, and said multi-way valve (6) is kept active until water attains the desired temperature, preferably 35-40°C. After this point when the water reaches a temperature of the desired level, the multi-way valve (6) is switched off and washing step is carried on.
In another embodiment of the present invention, the multiway valve (6) is placed downstream of the discharge pump (5) and the by-pass line (7) connects the multi-way valve (6) with the sump (3).
In another embodiment of the present invention, the process of preheating the water, in the washing steps wherein cold water is used, coming after the steps using warm water, e.g. main washing step; such as the first rinsing step, is optional, i.e. left to the choice of the user. The user can switch on or off said preheating function by means of a button. The washing cycle realized by using water at a temperature of 35-40°C, instead of cold water, provides protection against thermal shock and glass corrosion risks, for the delicate objects, particularly the glass-and cut-glass ware.
