Description

A PAIR OF ROLLERS FOR ROLLING PROFILE BARS, HAVING MULTIPLE COUPLES OF GROOVES OF WHICH SHAPES ARE DIFFERENT EACH OTHER
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to rolling rollers, and more particularly, to a pair of rolling rollers which are configured in such a way as to be capable of selectively rolling profile bars of various sectional shapes without the need of changing the rolling rollers .
Description of the Prior Art
Generally, rolled profile bars are employed in diverse industrial fields to manufacture a watch chain, a crown
(serving as a knob for winding a spring or rotating a hour hand of a watch) , pins, kitchen utensils, and so on. The rolled profile bars are formed by rolling, using rollers, a linear wire or rod made of stainless steel, titanium, steel, etc. to have predetermined sectional shapes .
In a rolling machine, by implementing a single rolling process, a wire or rod is rolled to have a single sectional shape .
To this end, the rolling machine has a pair of rollers which respectively have a pair of grooves for cooperatively defining a rolling cavity corresponding to a sectional shape of a rolled profile bar. Therefore, in order to roll a profile bar of another sectional shape using the same rolling machine, the pair of rollers must be changed with another pair of rollers which are grooved to define a rolling cavity corresponding to another sectional shape of the profile bar. However, this conventional rolling method suffers from defects as described below.
First, a great deal of costs are required in fabricating molds used for forming the rolling rollers which are defined with a pair of grooves . That is to say, considering that a sectional shape of a profile bar varies according to a user's need, a pair of rolling rollers must be separately prepared for each sectional shape of a profile bar, and thus, costs cannot but be increased.
Second, inconvenience is caused in that roller disassembling and reassembling operations must be performed whenever a sectional shape of a profile bar to be rolled by a rolling machine is changed. Namely, due to the fact that a pair of rollers for each sectional shape of a profile bar should be assembled on shafts whenever a sectional shape of a profile bar is to be changed, productivity is deteriorated.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION Accordingly, the present invention has been made in an effort to solve the problems occurring in the related art, and an object of the present invention is to provide a pair of rollers used for rolling profile bars, which are configured in such a way as to decrease a roller fabrication cost and considerably improve productivity of a rolling process.
According to one aspect of the present invention, there is provided a pair of first and second rolling rollers for pressing a wire or rod therebetween so as to form a profile bar of a predetermined sectional shape, wherein the first and second rolling rollers are defined on outer surfaces thereof with at least two pairs of grooves in a manner such that profile bars of different sectional shapes can be formed by the first and second rolling rollers. Preferably, the first and second rolling rollers are defined with two to eight pairs of grooves . The reason for this is that, in view of a standard for a roller and a size of a rolling machine, it is inappropriate to define nine or more pairs of grooves on outer surfaces of rollers .
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
The above objects, and other features and advantages of the present invention will become more apparent after a reading of the following detailed description when taken in conjunction with the drawings, in which:
FIG. 1 is a partially enlarged front view illustrating a pair of rollers for rolling profile bars, having multiple pairs of grooves of different shapes, in accordance with an embodiment of the present invention;
FIG. 2 is a schematic perspective view illustrating the pair of rollers for rolling profile bars of various sectional shapes, according to the present invention; and
FIGs. 3a through 3c are perspective views respectively illustrating states wherein profile bars of different sectional shapes are rolled through respective rolling cavities defined between three different pairs of grooves formed on the pair of rollers according to the present invention.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
Reference will now be made in greater detail to a preferred embodiment of the invention, an example of which is illustrated in the accompanying drawings. Wherever possible, the same reference numerals will be used throughout the drawings and the description to refer to the same or like parts .
In the drawings, the reference symbols A and B respectively represent first and second rollers. Also, the reference numerals 11a and lib represent first and second grooves for rolling a first profile bar, 12a and 12b first and second grooves for rolling a second profile bar, and 13a and 13b first and second grooves for rolling a third profile bar. Further, the reference numeral 21 represents a first rolling cavity for rolling the first profile bar, 22 a second rolling cavity for rolling the second profile bar, 23 a third rolling cavity for rolling the third profile bar, 30 a wire or rod to be rolled, 31 the first profile bar, 32 the second profile bar, and 33 the third profile bar. While the pair of rolling rollers which are defined with the three pairs of grooves to roll profile bars of different sectional shapes are shown in FIGs. 1 through 3C, it is to be noted that the present invention is not limited to those pairs of grooves. Therefore, it is to be readily understood that a pair of rolling rollers which are defined with at least two pairs of grooves also fall under the scope of the present invention.
Referring to FIGs. 1 and 2, the pair of rolling rollers for rolling profile bars of different sectional shapes are composed of the first and second rollers A and B. The first and second rollers A and B are assembled to a rolling machine to press the wire or rod 30 therebetween. The wire or rod 30 to be rolled may be made of stainless steel, titanium, etc. The first and second rolling rollers A and B are defined on outer surfaces thereof with the three pairs of grooves 11a and lib, 12a and 12b, and 13a and 13b to be capable of selectively rolling profile bars of predetermined sectional shapes . At this time, the first grooves 11a, 12a and 13a defined on the outer surface of the first roller A respectively complement the second grooves lib, 12b and 13b defined on the outer surface of the second roller B, in such a way as to create the three rolling cavities 21, 22 and 23 for rolling the profile bars of different sectional shapes .
Referring to FIGs. 3a through 3c, when implementing a rolling process, the wire or rod 30 to be rolled is passed through a selected one of the three rolling cavities 21, 22 and 23 and pressed by the first and second rollers A and B to have a predetermined sectional shape. Concretely speaking, when it is necessary to roll the wire or rod 30 into the first profile bar 31, as shown in FIG. 3a, the wire or rod 30 is passed through the first rolling cavity 21 which is created by the first and second grooves 11a and lib for rolling the first profile bar. Also, when it is necessary to roll the wire or rod 30 into the second profile bar 32, as shown in FIG. 3b, the wire or rod 30 is passed through the second rolling cavity 22 which is created by the first and second grooves 12a and 12b for rolling the second profile bar. Further, when it is necessary to roll the wire or rod 30 into the third profile bar 33, as shown in FIG. 3c, the wire or rod 30 is passed through the third rolling cavity 23 which is created by the first and second grooves 13a and 13b for rolling the third profile bar.
As a consequence, in the present invention, due to the fact that at least two pairs of grooves are defined on the outer surfaces of the first and second rolling rollers A and B to selectively roll profile bars of different sectional shapes, it is possible to form profile bars of various sectional shapes while obviating the need for changing rolling rollers of a rolling machine.
It is preferred that two to six pairs of grooves are defined on the outer surfaces of the first and second rolling rollers A and B.
Of course, it is to be understood that these pairs of grooves may be defined in any sequence .
The pairs of grooves may have sectional shapes selected from a group consisting of the following ones :

In the above-illustrated sectional shapes, an upper groove is defined on the outer surface of the first roller A, and a lower groove is defined on the outer surface of the second roller B.
It is to be emphasized that the present invention is not limited to the sectional shapes of the grooves as illustrated above, and other various sectional shapes can be adopted in the present invention depending upon needed sectional shapes of profile bars to be formed.
As apparent from the above description, the pair of rollers for rolling profile bars of various sectional shapes according to the present invention provide advantages in that a roller fabrication cost can be decreased and productivity of a rolling process can be considerably improved.
In the drawings and specification, there have been disclosed typical preferred embodiments of the invention and, although specific terms are employed, they are used in a generic and descriptive sense only and not for purposes of limitation, the scope of the invention being set forth in the following claims .
