BENT STRUCTURE FOR DENTAL INSTRUMENTS
TECHNICAL FIELD
The present invention relates to a bent structure for a dental instrument,
and in particular to a bent structure for a dental instrument which is preventing an
extended portion of a dental instrument from being interfered with a patient's lip
even when a dental instrument is used in all directions when diagnosing or
operating a patient's teeth.
BACKGROUND ART
Generally, as shown in Figure 1 , a dental instrument is classified into a
diagnosing instrument, a periodontium instrument, and an operation instrument.
As shown in the first figure of Figure 1 , the instrument is adapted to locate
a decayed tooth and tartar, a stare of a pocket and divergence, and a diagnosis of
recovered state. As shown in the second figure of Figure 1 , the instrument is
adapted to be used as a diagnosis probe and is adapted to measure a depth of
periodontium, a height of attachment, a shape of anatomy, and a bleeding in gum.
As shown in the third figure of Figure 1 , the instrument is adapted to apply a
certain impact to teeth using a mallet.
The above diagnosis instrument, periodontium instrument and operation
instrument each are formed of an end portion(operation portion) contacting with
teeth, a handle(or grip) designed to be gripped by a user, and an extended portion.
The above extended portion is formed of a bent portion for preventing an end
portion of the extended portion from being interfered with a patient's lip when an
end portion contacts with teeth.
However, in the above dental instruments, the bent portion is formed of
one or two bent portions. However, when seeing the bent portions from an axis of
the handle, the bent portions are arranged on the same plane, not 3-dimensional
construction.
For example, as shown in Figure 2, in the above dental instrument T, a
bent portion T1 may be easily used for contacting with a teeth D of an inner side of
a lip M, but each instrument used for a diagnosis or treatment is adapted to its
inherent purpose, namely, an end portion(or operation portion) of each dental
instrument is adapted to scratch, cut or groove a certain portion. Namely, each end
portion of the dental instruments has a certain function according to the usage.
In addition, in order to effectively use the end portion having a certain
direction with respect to various portions of the teeth, the dental instrument is
twisted or rotated at multiple angles. When rotating the instrument from the state
of Figure 2, the dental instrument becomes interfered with a patient's lip M as
shown by the imaginary line.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PRESENT INVENTION
Accordingly, the present invention provides a bent structure for a dental
instrument which overcomes the problems encountered in the conventional art.
It is an object of the present invention to provide a bent structure for a
dental instrument which is capable of preventing a dental instrument from being
interfered with a patient's lip even when a dental instrument is rotated in any
direction by forming a bent portion having a certain angle in an extended portion
between a handle and an end portion of a dental instrument.
It is another object of the present invention to provide a bent structure for a
dental instrument by which it is unnecessary to make a user's mouth open largely.
It is still further another object of the present invention to provide a bent
structure for a dental instrument in which a dental instrument may come close to a
portion that it is very difficult to contact using a dental instrument.
It is still further another object of the present invention to provide a bent
structure for a dental instrument by which an operator can easily perform a
surgical dental operation.
In order to achieve the above objects, in a dental instrument having a
handle 10, an end operation portion 20 and an extended portion 30 between the
handle 10 and the end operation portion 20, a 3-D bent structure for a dental
instrument includes a first bent portion 31 which is formed in such a manner that
the extended portion 30 is bent at a first bending point A in a certain direction at a
certain angle and is bent at an angle of α° with respect to an axial direction of the
handle; a second bent portion 32 which is bent at a second bending point B where
defines a certain length from the first bending point A in a certain direction at a
certain angle and is not parallel with respect to the extended portion 30 and the
first bent portion 31 and is bent in a longitudinal direction which becomes far away
with respect to the axial direction of the handle at an angle of α°; and a third bent
portion 33 which is bent at a third bending point C which defines a certain length
from the second bending point B in a certain direction at a certain angle and is not
parallel with respect to the extended portion 30, the first bent portion 31 and the
second bent portion 32 and is bent in a longitudinal direction which becomes close
with respect to the axial direction of the handle at an angle of α°; wherein the
angle of α° is in a range of 90° to 120°.

PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS OF THE PRESENT INVENTION
The preferred embodiments of the present invention will be described with
reference to the accompanying drawings.
Figure 3 is a view illustrating an example of a dental instrument according
to the present invention, and Figure 4 is a view illustrating the construction for
describing a bent state according to the present invention.
The present invention may be adapted to the dental instrument formed of
a handle 10, an extended portion 30, and an end operation portion 20 formed at
an end portion of the extended portion.
Namely, in any type of dental instruments formed of the handle 10, the end
operation portion 20 and the extended portion 30 between the handle 10 and the
end operation portion, the extended portion is formed of a first bent portion 31, a
second bent portion and a third bent portion 33. The first bent portion 31 is formed
in such a manner that the extended portion 30 is bent in a certain direction at a
first bending point A at a certain angle and is bent at an angle of α° with respect to
an axial direction of the handle. The second bent portion 32 is bent at a second
bending point B of a portion where defines a certain length from the first bending
point A in a certain direction at a certain angle and is not parallel with respect to
the extended portion 30 and the first bent portion 31 and is bent at an angle of α°
in a longitudinal direction which becomes far away with respect to the axial
direction of the handle. The third bent portion 33 is bent at a third bending point C
of a portion where defines a certain length from the second bending point B in a
certain direction at a certain angle and is not parallel with respect to the extended
portion 30, the first bent portion 31 and the second bent portion 32 and is bent in a
longitudinal direction which becomes close with respect to the axial direction of the
handle at an angle of α°.
The above angle of α° is preferably in a range of about 90° to 120°. More
preferably, the angle of α° is 110°.
The present invention may be implemented based on the construction of
Figure 5.
Namely, as shown in Figure 5, the first, second and third bent portions are
sequentially formed. During the formation of the third bent portion 33, when it is
bent from the third bending point C in the second bent portion 32, the axial
direction of the bent portion is on the same axis as the axial direction of the
extended portion 30.
In the dental instrument of the present invention, since the extended
portion 30 is bent at first through third bending points, even when the dental
instrument is moved in the mouth with respect to a certain tooth in any directions,
the dental instrument is not interfered with respect to a patient's lip as shown in
Figures 6A and Figure 6C.
Namely, as shown in Figure 6A, the end operation portion 20 approaches
in a direction of the upper surface of a tooth. At this time, the second bending point
B of the extended portion 30 is positioned at the outermost portion. Since a
patient's lip contacts with the same, the patient need not largely open his mouth.
In addition, as shown in Figure 6B, the end operation portion 20
approaches in the direction of the side lower portion in the outside of the teeth. At
this time, since the first bending point A is positioned in the outermost portion, the
lip contacts with the same. Therefore, at this time, the patient need not largely
open the mouth.
As shown in Figure 6C, the end operation portion 20 approaches in a front
side surface of the teeth. At this time, since the second bending point B or the third
bending point C is positioned in the outermost portion, the patient need not largely
open the mouth compared to the conventional art.
As shown in Figure 5, the axial direction of the third bent portion 33 bent at
the third bending point C on the second bent portion 32 is in the same center as
the axial direction of the extended portion 30 for the reason that in the case that a
force is transferred to the end operation portion 20 through the extended portion
30 from the handle 10, it is needed to impact a certain force using the mallet.
For reference, the extended portion according to the present invention
may be effectively adapted to the extended portions formed in various hand
pieces(cutting tools for teeth and a motor having a grinding device, etc.) which are
installed in a dental chair unit including a diagnosis device, operation device, etc.
As described above, in the dental instrument according to the present
invention, the extended portion formed from the handle to the end operation
portion is bent more than two times, and the bent direction of the same is
implemented in multiple directions based on a 3-dimensional structure. Therefore,
when the dental instrument approaches to a tooth or gum in any direction, it is
possible to prevent the dental instrument from being interfered with a patient's lip.
Therefore, the patient need not largely open his mouth. In addition, it is
possible to easily approach to a certain deep inner portion of the mouth for
operation, so that it is easy to perform various dental operations.
As the present invention may be embodied in several forms without
departing from the spirit or essential characteristics thereof, it should also be
understood that the above-described examples are not limited by any of the details
of the foregoing description, unless otherwise specified, but rather should be
construed broadly within its spirit and scope as defined in the appended claims,
and therefore all changes and modifications that fall within the meets and bounds
of the claims, or equivalences of such meets and bounds are therefore intended to
be embraced by the appended claims.
