Abstract

Die Erfindung betrifft ein magnetisches Aufzeichnungsmedium, umfassend a) einen Schichtträger, b) mindestens eine darauf aufgebrachte untere nichtmagnetische Schicht, welche mindestens ein Bindemittel enthält, sowie c) eine auf der unteren Schicht aufgebrachte obere magnetische Schicht, welche, dispergiert in mindestens einem Bindemittel, mindestens ein magnetisches Metall- oder Metalllegierungspigment enthält, das eine Passivierungshülle besitzt, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die obere magnetische Schicht eine Trockendicke d von höchstens 300 nm aufweist; das magnetische Metall- oder Metalllegierungspigment eine Gesamtlänge I von höchstens 90 nm besitzt, wobei Länge I'des Metallkerns, Gesamtlänge I des Pigments und die kürzeste Aufzeichnungswellenlänge λ für die magnetische Aufzeichnung auf dem Medium folgender Beziehung gehorchen: I'/I#1- 18/λ und wobei zumindest das Bindemittel der magnetischen Schicht sowohl Chlor- als auch Epoxygruppen enthält; oder chloridfrei ist.
