Abstract

A thermoelectric transducing material, wherein a basic structure in which Fe, V and Al make up a stoichiometric composition (Fe2VAl) which is a Heusler alloy type of crystal structure and has a total number of valence electrons per chemical formula of 24 is modified by substituting Si or the like for a part of Al or by adjusting the above composition ratio and also substituting Si or the like for a part of Al, to thereby control the total number of valence electrons per chemical formula; and a method for preparing the thermoelectric transducing material. The thermoelectric transducing material and a thermoelectric transducer made from the material exhibit a high thermoelectric transducing efficiency, can be prepared at a low cost, and is significantly reduced in the fear of environmental pollution.
