Abstract

The invention relates to chainlike polycyclic bisanhydrides, containing between 2 and 12 permanent-chain cyclenes, selected from 1,3-phenylene, 1,4-phenylene, 2,6-naphthylene, 2,7-naphthylene, 1,4-cyclohexylene, bicyclopentylene, bicyclooctylene, cubylene, which can be mono- or polysubstituted with halogen, cyano, alkyl, fluoralkyl, alkoxy and/or fluoralkoxy. Said cyclenes are linked by bridging groups, selected from a single bond, -CF2O, -OCF2-, -O-, -S-, -SO2-, -CO-, -NH-, -(CH2)1-10-, -(CF2)1-10-, -CH(CH3)-, -CH(CCI3)-, -CH(CF3)-, -C(CH3)2-, -C(CF3)2-, -C C-, -CH=CH-, -CF=CH-, -CH=CF-, -CF=CF- and the formulae in (I), with the proviso that at least one bridging group is -CF20- or -OCF2-. The polycyclenes are terminated at both ends of the chain by various groups, selected from the formulae in (II).
