It is common practice during arthroplasty operations to insert a cement (typically polymethylmethacrylate cement) into the femoral canal prior to implantation of the femoral prosthesis. Additionally, it is advantageous to pressurize the cement to improve the interlocking between cement and bone and potentially increase the lifespan of the arthroplasty.

  • cement pressurisation is typically achieved by inserting cement with a cement gun, with the flow of cement down the shaft being blocked by a cement restrictor, and back up the shaft by occluding the opening.

Abstract

L'invention concerne un dispositif chirurgical formé d'un joint occlusif (10) gonflable flexible en forme d'anneau pour canal osseux, utilisé dans la pressurisation du ciment au cours d'une arthroplastie de l'épaule ou de la hanche. Une buse de canon à ciment est placée dans un trou (14) au centre du dispositif (Fig.5), et le dispositif est alors placé dans l'ouverture d'un canal osseux (Fig.6), puis gonflé à l'aide d'un tube (18) pour boucher l'ouverture et former un joint étanche. Lorsque le ciment est injecté à l'aide du canon à ciment, le joint occlusif étanche du dispositif empêche toute fuite de ciment et permet ainsi la pressurisation du ciment injecté dans le canal osseux (Fig.6). Un tube (22) permet de drainer tout excès de sang. Le dispositif est dégonflé à l'aide du tube (18) puis retiré, laissant le canal osseux rempli de ciment et prêt pour l'implantation de la prothèse.
