CYBER MONEY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
Technical Field
The present invention relates in general to cyber money management systems, and more particularly to a cyber money management system for storing cyber money of cash or points, paying the stored cyber money at once when an electronic business transaction is conducted via a computer and Internet network, acquiring and utilizing cyber money of cash or points using a cyber money management program installed in a user's computer when the computer is connected to an Internet network offline as well as online, temporarily preserving cash deposited in a bank and cash or points acquired on the Internet and transferring the preserved cash directly to a bank account or at once paying it to other users as needed.
Background Art
Recently, personal computers have become widespread in companies and homes and the use of the Internet through the personal computers has rapidly increased nationally and internationally, resulting in an explosive increase in the number of Internet users. In this connection, many persons live in a cyber space through the Internet and personal computers for a large amount of time and thus handle a lot of their daily affairs in the cyber space. As a result, a variety of economic activities, including the purchase of commodities, are conducted in the cyber space using the Internet and personal computers.
Payment for a variety of economic activities in the cyber space using the Internet and personal computers has been conducted until now by making remittances through credit cards and financial institutions such as banks. However, this payment method has a disadvantage in that even small amounts of money must be paid through credit cards and banks, resulting in a great inconvenience to users. Further, this payment method may lead to release of credit card information.
Moreover, it is common that users can use cyber money only under the condition that they are connected to a cyber money management server over an
Internet network. Furthermore, the users have many limitations in using the cyber money. For these reasons, the users cannot conveniently and at once use the cyber money.
Disclosure of the Invention
Therefore, the present invention has been made in view of the above problems, and it is an object of the present invention to provide a cyber money management system which is capable of changing service provider-oriented environments of electronic business transactions based on computers and Internet networks to customer-oriented environments using a cyber money management program installed in each user's computer, thereby providing both a service provider and user with a convenience of use. It is another object of the present invention to provide a cyber money management system which is capable of temporarily preserving cash deposited in a bank and cash or points acquired on the Internet and transferring the preserved cash directly to a bank account or at once paying the preserved cash or points to other users as needed. In accordance with the present invention, the above and other objects can be accomplished by the provision of a cyber money management system comprising a cyber money management server for managing and approving the transfer of cyber money; a member information database connected to the cyber money management server for storing information of users registered as members; a cash/point management server connected to the cyber money management server and member information database for managing an accumulated amount of cash and an accumulated amount of points of each of the members registered in the member information database; an accumulated cash/point database connected to the cash/point management server for storing information about the accumulated amount of cash and the accumulated amount of points of each of the registered members; at least one financial institution connected to the cyber money management server via an Internet network, the financial institution having an account opened by at least one user; and at least one user computer connected online to the cyber money management server via the Internet network, the user computer having a cyber money management program installed therein.

In the cyber money management system of this invention, a user can manage the acquisition or payment of cash and points using the cyber money management program installed in his or her computer 30 or 32 under the condition that he or she connects the computer 30 or 32 to the Internet network 20 offline as well as online.
The cyber money management system can temporarily preserve cash deposited in the user's account 41 of the associated financial institution 40, such as a bank, and cash and points acquired on the Internet. As needed, the system can transfer or remit the preserved cash directly to the account 41 of the financial institution 40 or at once pay the preserved cash or points to other users.
Namely, in the cyber money management system operated by the cyber money service provider, the cyber money management server 10 is adapted to manage and approve the transfer of cyber money. The member information database 11 is connected to the cyber money management server 10 to store information of users registered as members, and the cash/point management server 12 is connected to the server 10 and member information database 11 to manage an accumulated amount of cash and an accumulated amount of points of each of the members registered in the database 1 1. The accumulated cash/point database 13 is connected to the cash/point management server 12 to store information about the accumulated amount of cash and the accumulated amount of points of each of the registered members. A plurality of user computers, for example, the first and second user computers 30 and 32 are connected to the cyber money management server 10 via the Internet network 20. The cyber money management program 31 or 33 is installed in each of the first and second user computers 30 and 32. The financial institutions 40 with the users' accounts 41 are also connected to the cyber money management server 10 via the Internet network 20.
First, if a user gains access to the cyber money management server 10 using his or her computer 30 or 32, then the server 10 authenticates the user as a member. When the user conducts an electronic business transaction with another user such as a person, company, organization, institution or the like, the cyber money management server 10 checks and approves the acquisition or payment of points and cash by the user and then stores the resulting points and cash in the accumulated cash/point database 13 via the cash/point management server 12. If the user requests the transmission of information stored in the accumulated cash/point database 13 over the Internet network 20, the cyber money management server 10 authenticates the user as a member and then transmits information about the user's accumulated cash and points stored in the database 13 to the cyber money management program installed in the user computer 30 or 32. As a result, the user can always check his or her accumulated cash and points.
As stated previously, the first and second user computers 30 and 32 are connected to the cyber money management server 10 via the Internet network 20, and the cyber money management program 31 or 33 is installed in each of the first and second user computers 30 and 32. The advertisement management module 51 is adapted to manage all advertisements to be displayed on the user computer 30 or 32. If the user selects specific advertisements, the advertisement management module 51 stores points and cash acquired as a result of the advertisement selection respectively in the point account module 52a and cash account module 53a under the control of the point management module 52 and cash management module 53. The point management module 52 manages the acquisition of points in compensation for advertisement selection or service provision, or the use of points for commodity purchase when the user computer 30 or 32 is operated either online or offline, and then stores the resulting points in the point account module 52a.
The cash management module 53 manages the acquisition of cash in compensation for advertisement selection or service or commodity provision, or the payment of cash for commodity purchase or service use when the user computer 30 or 32 is operated either online or offline, and then stores the resulting cash in the cash account module 53 a.
The electronic mail management module 54 is adapted to create an electronic mail and forward the created electronic mail to another user via the security module 50 and transmission/reception module 57 over the Internet network 20. Also, the electronic mail management module 54 receives an electronic mail from another user via the security module 50 and transmission/reception module 57 over the Internet network 20. At this time, cyber money may be attached to the electronic mail being transmitted or received.
The information storage module 55 stores user information containing a user's member ID and password and keys selected by the user, and advertisement information containing details of advertisements to be displayed on the user computer 30 or 32. Under the control of the user, the display module 56 displays the points stored in the point account module 52a and the cash stored in the cash account module 53a on the screen of the user computer 30 or 32 whose size is adjusted by the user.
The transmission/reception module 57 is connected to the cyber money management server 10 through the Internet network 20 to store the currently acquired cash and points in the accumulated cash/point database 13 through the cash/point management server 12.
