Abstract

Um unterschiedliche optische Leistungspegel in einzelnen Wellenlängenbereichen eines optischen WDM-Netzes anzugleichen, werden wellenlängenabhängige Pegelangleicher eingesetzt. Verschiedene Lösungen auf Basis von Mach-Zehnder-Filtern oder AWG-Multiplexern in Verbindung mit Phasenschiebern sind bekannt, weisen aber zu hohe Schaltleistungswerte und entweder zu grobe Filtercharakteristiken oder zu hohe Dämpfungswerte auf. Deshalb ist bei dem erfindungsgemässen Pegelangleicher (GE) ein erster Wellenleiter (WG1) mit einem zweiten Wellenleiter (WG2), die unterschiedliche Brechzahlen (n1, n2) aufweisen, über zwei 3dB-Filterkoppler (GC1, GC2) verbunden, in deren Koppelbereichen (CA) je ein Gitter (G1, G2) zur Selektion eines Wellenlängenbereichs (μCi, i=1..m) integriert ist. Im zweiten Wellenleiter (WG2) ist zwischen den beiden Filterkopplern (GC1, GC2) ausserhalb ihrer Koppelbereiche (CA) ein einstellbarer Phasenschieber (PS) integriert. Bei einer besonders bevorzugten Hybridausführung der Wellenleiter wird der Vorteil der niedrigen Dämpfung in einem Silica-Wellenleiter mit dem Vorteil der gut einstellbaren Schaltbarkeit in einem Polymer-Wellenleiter kombiniert. Zur gleichzeitigen Pegelangleichung in mehreren Wellenlängenbereichen können erfindungsgemässe Pegelangleicher mit unterschiedlichen Filterkurven hintereinander geschaltet werden.
