Abstract

The invention relates to a method and a device for determining the current position of an object and for monitoring the planned path thereof. The aim of the invention is to provide a method and a device for determining the current position of an object and for monitoring the planned path of the same, enabling, in addition to precise position determination, the planned path of said object to be monitored according to the status of variable devices and external objects along the path. To this end, position data relating to the object must be provided, said data being produced by taking shots of the paths, and completed by details on each position and by the status of variable devices in the individual image by means of known methods and programmes. According to the invention, the method involves recording the path of the object and comparing it with the position data. The current position is given in the case of maximum accordance of the significant characteristics of the current image with the stored position data. The status of variable devices and the relevant details about the external objects are determined from the current image by comparing said current image with the information stored in the corresponding position data. The devices for carrying out the method can be used on the object or in central units and are adapted to requirements of speed, availability and safety.
