Abstract

L'invention concerne un procédé et un appareil permettant de traiter des gaz d'échappement de moteurs à combustion interne, de manière à atténuer le bruit et à produire des émissions propres. Ledit appareil est caractérisé par des ailettes de turbine situées dans une chambre à travers laquelle passent les gaz d'échappement, ces ailettes pouvant tourner librement et conférer aux gaz un composant de vitesse centrifuge. Ces ailettes entraînent une séparation centrifuge de particules (notamment des particules de carbone) issues du courant gazeux et permettent d'obtenir un certain degré d'atténuation du bruit. Une atténuation du bruit supplémentaire est obtenue au moyen d'une plaques perforées montées élastiques, lesquelles sont situées dans la chambre et assurent l'absorption par viscosité des impulsions et de l'énergie des ondes de certaines fréquences sonores. Un effet Venturi est également utilisé dans la chambre.
