Said bolts 53 are controlled in the sash by control surfaces 55 and 56, which will ensure that when the Pasquil rod 50 is moved to the right the bolts 53 will slide up into the sash; for example, into the second sash element 6. Analogously, moving the Pasquil rod 50 to the left will cause the bolts to be turned about the swivel connectors 54, so that a lower end of the bolts will move downward and interlock with a frame member (for example, a striking plate), causing the sash to be secured against the frame. As previously described, the lower end of the bolts 53 may be equipped with additional lock components in the form of pin-shaped components 57, which, as previously described, will secure the sash from being broken open.
  • Fig. 5 The structure shown in Fig. 5 is only an example of a structure according to the invention, in which the control handle, the connections to it, and locking mechanisms are wholly or partially contained in the second sash element 6 or 6'. It may clearly be seen that more or fewer than two bolts can be used, that other types of bolts than those illustrated can be used, that other transmission connections than the one shown can be used, and that another type of control handle can be used. Furthermore, it may clearly be seen that another type of sash structure could be involved, in which one or more sash elements may be used in addition to the second sash element 6; for example, a third sash element 20 in connection with the second sash element 6', as shown in Fig. 2.

Abstract

Control system for windows, doors or the like, which comprises a frame (1) and an opening sash (2). The opening sash has mechanisms to secure at least one panel-shaped element (9) in the sash and has a control handle (13) which is connected to mechanisms (15) to secure the opening sash with respect to the frame. The sash comprises two sash elements, whereby the first sash element (3) comprises a groove (4) for receiving an edge of at least one panel-shaped element (9), and whereby the second sash element (6, 6') can be mounted on the first sash element (3) to secure at least one panel-shaped element. The control handle (13) is at least partially housed in said second sash element (6, 6'), and connections (14) from the control handle to said mechanisms (15) for securing the opening sash are at least partially contained in said second sash element (6, 6').

Description

Control System for Windows, Doors, or the Like, and Window, Door, or the Like with such a Control System
The Area of the Invention
The invention relates to a control system for windows, doors, or the like, comprising a frame and an opening sash with light openings, whereby the opening sash has mechanisms to secure at least one panel-shaped element in the sash's light opening and has a control handle which is connected to mechanisms to secure the opening sash with respect to the frame.
Prior Art
Traditionally, windows, doors, and the like have elements which are moveable and hinged so that they can be opened and have been equipped with various means with which to open, close, and secure said parts. Thus, a moveable control handle arranged on the sash is often used which can move one or more locking mechanisms directly or indirectly by means of a transmission connection, so that said locking mechanisms will respectively move out of or into catches with corresponding securing mechanisms on the frame. The locking mechanisms can be in the form of one or more lock tongues, latches, one or more bolts, or the like, and various connecting mechanisms or transmission mechanisms can be used between the control handles and locking mechanisms, such as Pasquil mechanisms, espagnolette mechanisms, rack mechanisms, etc., and the securing mechanisms may comprise striking plates, striking plates, etc.
Such mechanisms and locking devices are often mounted on and in parts of the sash, because separate means can be used to contain these mechanisms, and because various measures can be taken to make room in the parts of the sash to receive said components either in their entirety or partially. This will necessarily involve extra costs during production and, moreover, will result in a weakening of the sash members. So, for example, wooden sashs may require extensive slots and drilled holes in order to create the necessary space. When sash parts are constructed of other materials, such as shaped sash parts made of metal, including e.g. aluminum and/or steel and plastic materials, such as PNC or PP, which may also be reinforced, special arrangements must be made to house these parts.
Thus, for example, a sash is known from GB publication number 2 130 628 A which is constructed with a longitudinal cavity in which an espagnolette mechanism can be received, so that said mechanism can be displaced longitudinally and thereby actuate the locking mechanisms. This structure has the advantage that the mechanism is received in a cavity which is adapted to it in the sash structure, so that the mechanism does not take up any unnecessary space. However, there is the disadvantage of the fact that the mechanism must already be inserted into the structure during production of the window, and the mechanism will not be directly accessible for maintenance, repair, replacement, etc.
Furthermore, it is generally known that windows, doors, and the like are constructed with an internal groove, in which a pane can be received, whereby the pane is then secured on the sash by means of a glazing bead. This glazing bead is traditionally arranged on the exterior side of the window or door; however, this has certain disadvantages. For example, the glazing beads can be removed relatively easily from the outside, so a potential burglar can gain access to a building relatively easily in this manner.
In order to avoid this and other disadvantages, there are sash designs in which a glazing bead is arranged on the inner side of the sash.
For example, such a structure is known from Danish patent number 171 055 BL In this known window structure, there is a sash and a frame whose light openings are arranged substantially on top of one another. In this known structure, the sash is constructed of an outer sash element with a groove to receive a pane secured by a glazing bead. At the same time, some of the connecting mechanisms from the control handles to the locking mechanisms are arranged in a cavity in the substantially U-shaped glazing bead made of plastic, which is secured by means of snapping catch mechanisms in a track in the outer sash element made of aluminum. The one leg end surface of the glazing bead in the U- shape has a seal which sticks to a pane, while the other leg end surface has another seal which sticks to the frame when the sash is closed. The control handle is arranged on the connecting surface, which also constitutes the free boundary surface of the light opening and which connects the two end surfaces. The control handle itself, together with the associated connecting mechanisms, is mounted between two interconnected panel elements, which are secured stationary in the glazing bead.
One object of the invention is to specify a system for doors, windows, and similar elements having a sash structure, which distinguish itself having a relatively simple structure, while at the same time making it reasonable to manufacture said element, whereby it is also possible to have optional placement of at least the control handle on the free surfaces of the sash.
A second object of the invention is to specify such a system, in which the control device can be incorporated into the structure in a practical manner without taking up unnecessary space and without reducing the structure's resistance to break-in attempts by burglars, for example.
An additional object of the invention is to specify such a system, in which the control device can be incorporated into the structural design in a simple manner without requiring labor-intensive operations during production.
Yet another object of the invention is to specify such a system, distinguished by having a high level of security against being broken open, damage, and break-ins by burglars, for example, with respect to known systems.
These and other objects of the invention are achieved by the invention, as will appear in greater detail in the following. The Invention
The aforementioned objects are achieved by a control system of the type mentioned in the introduction, which according to the invention is distinguished in that the sash comprises at least two sash elements, whereby the first sash element comprises a groove to receive an edge of at least one panel-shaped element, and whereby a second sash element can be mounted on the first sash element to secure at least one panel-shaped element, and whereby the control handle is at least partially housed in said second sash element, and so that connections from the control handle to said mechanisms for securing the opening sash are at least partially contained within said second sash element.
This has made it possible for the sash to be composed in a relatively simple manner of sash elements which, for example, secure a pane between them, and whereby the first sash element, like the structure known from Danish patent number 171 055 Bl, is placed on the exterior in such a way that the pane cannot easily be detached by removing a glazing bead, because the pane is secured by means of the internally arranged second sash element. Said second sash element can support the control mechanism and can thus be a self-supporting unit which can be mounted on the first sash element relatively easily to complete the sash structure and control mechanism, unlike the above-mentioned known structure, in which the control handle etc. is mounted on and supported by the primary sash element.
In one convenient embodiment, as specified in claim 2, the control system is designed so that said mechanisms for securing the moveable sash comprise mechanisms which, when in the closed position, prevent said mechanisms from being moved in a direction substantially perpendicular to the length of the sash member.
This has made a significant advantage possible with respect to the aforementioned known structure, because with said known structure, it would be possible to break open the window with, for example, a crowbar to force the sash and frame as far apart as the locking mechanisms will separate from the catches, and then the window can be forced open. Because the locking mechanisms according to this embodiment of the invention are designed in the specified manner, this cannot be done or can only be done with great difficulty. It will thus also be possible to design said second sash element, its attachment to the first sash element, and the control mechanism's attachment to the second sash element in a relatively simple manner and without attempting to achieve a particularly strong attachment, because the control system with locking mechanisms on one hand will be hooked immovably to the frame with said mechanisms, and because the other side of the system will be arranged on the other side of the first sash element, which may be designed as a rigid structure itself, so that breaking in by, for example, forcing the second sash element loose from the first sash element will be made impossible in practice.
One practical embodiment of the system specified in claim 2 may be seen from claim 3, according to which said mechanisms for securing the opening sash comprise a lock tongue which moves about an axis, whereby one end of said lock tongue, when in the closed position, is received in a groove-shaped component in or on the frame, preferably in the form of a striking plate, whereby said end of the lock tongue comprises a pin- shaped part which extends laterally to the lock tongue, and whereby said groove-shaped part has a width at one end which is larger than the corresponding size of said end of the lock tongue, and at its other end has a width which is less than the corresponding size of the said end of the lock tongue.
It is convenient for the control system, as specified in claim 4, to be designed in such a way that the sash furthermore comprises one or more sash elements which can be mounted on the first sash element and/or the second sash element, whereby a sash structure can be specified which is particularly convenient for manufacturing purposes. For example, one of the additional sash elements can be designed as a glazing bead with a seal, which would facilitate the attachment of said second sash element.
According to the embodiment specified in claim 5, the control handle can be at least partially housed in one or more of the additional sash elements, which may be convenient for certain structures.
However, as specified in claim 6, it the control handle may also be substantially housed in said second sash element. The additional sash elements can then be designed without modifications with respect to the control system.
As specified in claim 7, connections from the control handle to said mechanisms for securing the opening sash can be at least partially contained in one or more of the additional sash elements.
According to the embodiment specified in claim 8, the locking mechanisms may comprise a lock tongue, and the control handle may form part of a turning knob, whereby a particularly simple control mechanism is achieved.
However, an additional embodiment may also be designed as specified in claim 9, in which the control system is designed in such a way that the locking mechanisms comprise two or more lock tongues, bolts, or the like, whereby connections from the control handle to said mechanisms are designed to simultaneously activate the locking mechanisms, and whereby said lock tongues, bolts, or the like are arranged at a distance from one another along a sash member and/or in proximity to one or both ends of said sash member. In this embodiment, a solid attachment of the sash with respect to the frame is achieved, because the two or more closing mechanisms may be distributed as appropriate along said side of the sash. Furthermore, the locking mechanisms may interlock with the frame members which are adjacent to said frame member; for example, in top hung windows with their control system arranged at the bottom, where the locking mechanisms can interlock with each side at the bottom of the vertical frame members, which increases the strength of the attachment.
Finally, as specified in claim 10, the invention relates to a window, a door, or the like, which comprises a frame together with an opening sash, whereby the opening sash has mechanisms to secure at least one panel-shaped element on the sash and has a control - handle connected to mechanisms for securing the opening sash in relation to the frame, and whereby the window, the door, or the like comprises a control system according to one or more of claims 1 - 9.

Exemplary Embodiments
Fig. 1 shows a cross-section of a frame member 1 and a sash member, which together are labeled 2, of a window, a door or a similar element, whereby the sash 2 can be opened with respect to the frame 1. The sash 2 may be hung with respect to the frame 1, for example, on one side, a top member, a bottom member, and may correspondingly be equipped with control mechanisms to open and close the sash and to secure the sash on the frame, which control mechanisms may be arranged on a side, top member, or bottom member, preferably above the hinged side, top member, or bottom member. This may, for example, involve a window in the form of a top hung window, a side hung window, a pivot hung window, or other types of windows, and it may involve a door; for example, a door hinged on one side and with control mechanisms on the other side.
The sash 2 according to the invention and its design construction will be described in greater detail below with reference to Fig. 1. The sash comprises a first sash element 3, which is designed as a shaped component whose upward-facing part in Fig. 1 forms a groove 4 by means of a grooved edge 5. Furthermore, the sash comprises a second sash element 6, which can be mounted on the first sash element 3, e.g. by means of snapping mechanisms 7 and 8 as shown, which can interlock with corresponding snapping mechanisms on the first sash element 3. The second sash element 6, which may be a shaped component as shown, will in its mounted position as shown form a lateral termination of the groove 4, whereby said groove can secure a panel-shaped element 9, e.g. in the form of a pane, in particular a double-glazed pane as shown, or in the form of any other suitable panel-shaped or substantially panel-shaped object. It will furthermore be clear that the sash 2 can secure one or more panel-shaped objects, forming a joint structure; for example, a door or a window having a sash with a plurality of panes.
On both the inward-facing side of the grooved edge 5 and the inward-facing side of the second sash element 6, there are means to position sealants 10 and 11, respectively, in the form of e.g. rubber seals, rubber packing, flanged seals, etc. Thus, it may be seen that the second sash element 6 in the form shown will perform the function of a glazing bead, and it is to be noted that this glazing bead will be mounted on the inward-facing side of the window or door if it is a window or door which opens outward.
Furthermore, the sash 2 is equipped with a sealing component 12 in the form of e.g. a rubber seal or gasket to form a seal between the sash 2 and the frame 1. In the design construction shown, this sealing component is arranged on the first sash element 2 and in such a way that said sealing component will press against one side of a groove in the frame 1. Arrangements and designs of this sealing component 12 other than that shown are possible, as will be obvious to a person skilled in the art. The sash 2 is furthermore equipped with a control handle 13, which can perform a locking function by means of locking mechanisms 15 via a connecting mechanism 14.
Said locking mechanisms may comprise a pin, latch, bolt, or similar known mechanisms, which, as illustrated, can interlock with a part of the frame 1, preferably by means of a striking plate (not shown), as is known to a person skilled in the art. The locking mechanisms 15 will thus function to secure the sash 2 against the frame 1 in its closed position and can furthermore be designed to pull the sash 2 in toward the frame 1 during the locking movement, which is also a known structure.
As shown, the control handle 13 is housed in or on the second sash element 6, and the connecting mechanism 14 is, as shown, arranged at least partially inside this second sash element 6. The connecting mechanism may, as will be explained below, comprise various mechanisms which can transmit the locking function to one or more locking mechanisms 15, which may be designed substantially the same and be arranged at a distance from one another along one edge of the sash or even on different edges of the sash.
As shown in Fig. 1, the control handle 13 is arranged in such a way that it is housed through or in a top panel of the second sash element 6. The control handle may be designed to rotate in a plane substantially parallel to the plane of the pane 9, but other control movements are equally possibly.
Furthermore, Fig. 1 shows that the locking mechanisms 15 (for example, in the form of a bolt) may be equipped with a pin-shaped component 16 which extends out from the locking mechanisms themselves from an exterior side of the locking mechanisms; for example, the bolt. Said pin-shaped component 16 may have different designs and can extend substantially perpendicularly from a longitudinal axis of the locking mechanisms; for example, to one side as illustrated. The component 16 may also be designed in such a way that it extends to the other side or even to both sides of the locking mechanisms. Furthermore, the pin-shaped component 16, instead of or at the same time as extending laterally, may extend forward and or backward. The function of the pin-shaped component 16 is to secure the sash 2 from being forced from its attachment to the frame
1; for example, if someone tries to force the sash 2 off of the frame 1, i.e. in an upward direction as shown in Fig. 1. This could occur, for example, if a crowbar or similar tool is inserted between the sash and frame, whereby the sash can be forced far enough from the frame that the locking mechanisms will no longer be interlocked with the frame and the sash can be opened. With a modification of the locking mechanisms 15 when the pin-shaped component 16 is moved, this will prevent or at least make it difficult to force the sash 2 and the frame 1 apart, because in this case the pin-shaped component 16 will press against part of the frame 1, normally part of a striking plate. This is, of course, dependent on the frame (i.e., normally the striking plate) being designed in such a way that the locking mechanisms 15, including the pin-shaped component 16, can be rotated down to interlock with the frame (e.g., the striking plate), while at the same time in such a way that the pin-shaped component 16 will interlock with the striking plate, for example, during said forced separation of the frame and sash. Examples of such locking mechanisms will be described in greater detail below with reference to Fig. 6.
Fig. 2 shows a cross-section of a modified embodiment of the invention. Parts which correspond to or substantially correspond to parts which have already been described . with reference to Fig. 1 have the same reference numbers as in Fig. 1. As will be seen, the sash member 2 in this embodiment comprises three different sash elements, namely the first sash element 3, which is unchanged with respect to Fig. 1, a second sash element 6', and a third sash element 20. As described above, the second sash element 6' is mounted on the first sash element 3 by means of snapping mechanisms 7 and 8, so that a terminal side of the groove 4 is formed, but the second sash element 6' in the structure shown does not comprise a seal over the pane 9 or a corresponding panel element. Said seal is formed by means of the third sash element 20, which, as shown, has mechanisms to position the sealing mechanism 9 and thus functions like a glazing bead.
The third sash element 20 is mounted on the sash 2 by means of e.g. snapping mechanisms 21, and said third sash element 20 will preferably be mounted on the second sash element 6'. As may be seen, the control handle 13 is housed in or on the second sash element 6' or even in or on the third sash element 20. Only the third sash element may be designed in such a way (e.g. with a slot, a jamb form, or the like) that it can be mounted on the sash 2 without interlocking with the control handle 13, and in such a way that the control handle 13 can be moved without obstruction by the third sash element 20 when the latter has been mounted.
Fig. 3 shows a further modified embodiment of the invention, which has another shape and housing for the control handle 13 with respect to the embodiment shown in Fig. 1. As mentioned with reference to Fig. 2, parts which correspond to or substantially correspond to parts which have already been described with reference to Fig. 1 have the same reference numbers as in Fig. 1. The control handle 11 in this case is housed in the second sash element 6 in such a way that the control handle extends from a front panel 30 of the second sash element instead of the top panel 31, as shown with reference to Fig. 1. This embodiment may be convenient in connection with specific types of connecting mechanisms 14 and may also be preferable for other reasons; for example, the desired arrangement of the control handle 11 with respect to the sash 2 and/or frame 1, the desired control movement, etc. Furthermore, this embodiment may be preferable in conjunction with a structure for the sash 2 having three or more sash elements 3, 6', and 20, as described with reference to Fig. 2, because the third sash element 20 in this case does not require modification for the control handle to be released from it. Other geometric structures are of course possible for the individual sash elements in connection with the invention. For example, the second sash element 6 could certainly have another structure for its free surfaces (i.e. the surfaces which do not face either the panel-shaped element 9, the first sash element 3, or the frame 1), because the two which are shown as 30 and 31, respectively, could certainly be designed as a polygon with multiple surfaces or even as part of a cylinder surface. By allowing this plurality of designs for the free surface(s), the control handle can be arranged where it is most convenient, and not in the one free surface as with known designs. With this optional structure for the sash element 6, a sash with a light opening which is smaller than the light opening of the frame can be obtained, if desired. In this case, the control handle 11 may be arranged so that it is not visible from the exterior of the sash.
As illustrated, the sash elements may be designed as shaped elements, which can be extruded or manufactured with similar known processes. The sash elements may be made of metal, such as aluminum or steel (produced by extrusion, casting, or rolling), or of plastic materials like PVC, PE, PP, or the like (they may be reinforced by fibers or other materials), or of composite materials like wood and plastic compounds (50 - 90 % wood and 10 - 50 % plastic, e.g. PNC, PVB, PE, or PP). The different sash elements may be manufactured from different materials, so that the first sash structure might be made of aluminum, while the second and/or any additional sash elements could be made of plastic materials.
The various sash elements can be mounted on one another as mentioned by means of snap-locking mechanisms, but other methods for mounting and attaching can be used; for example, friction interlocks, gluing, screw connections, etc., as will be obvious to the person skilled in the art.
In addition, the frame 1 may be manufactured as a shaped structure of plastic or metal, but it may also be designed in other manners; for example, as a wholly or partially solid object, and it may furthermore be made of wood.
Fig. 4 shows a lateral view of part of a sash 2, where the control handle 13 is located. Thus, it shows a lateral surface of the second sash element 6 and lateral surfaces of the bottom members of the first sash element 3 with the seal 12. The connecting mechanisms 14, which are arranged within the second sash element 6 and between the control handle 13 and the locking mechanism 15, are shown with a dotted line, and as may be seen, the example involves a turning knob housed in a housing shaft 40, and an intermediate component 41 leads from it to the locking mechanism 15. When the control handle 13 is turned in the direction of the arrow 42, the locking mechanism 15 will be moved down to interlock with part of the frame 1 (not shown), preferably in a striking plate (not shown), so that the sash will be secured against the frame and may be pressed inward against the frame; for example, if the striking plate and/or locking mechanism 15 is equipped with inclined surfaces in known fashion which perform the function of a key.
Furthermore, the exterior of the locking mechanism 15 may be equipped with a pin- shaped component (not shown) corresponding to the component 16 shown in Fig. 1, 2, and 3, so that the lock pin described will be inserted when the control handle 13 is turned in the direction of the arrow 42 all the way to the closed position.
It may clearly be seen that the control handle, the connecting mechanism 14 in the form of the intermediate component 41, and the locking mechanisms 15 may be designed in various ways which may differ from the example shown in Fig. 4. Such variations will be obvious to a person skilled in the art.
Fig. 5 shows a corresponding lateral view of a sash 2, in which the section is shown where the control handle 13 and locking mechanisms in the form of bolts 53 are located. Thus, a lateral surface of the second sash element 6 may be seen, as well as lateral surfaces of bottom parts of the first sash element 3 with the seal 12. Components which are located inside the sash are illustrated with dotted lines, and it may thus be seen that the control handle 13 is housed in a housing shaft 40 and is connected at its lower end as shown in the figure to a connecting piece 51, which is mounted on a transmission piece 50; for example, in the form of a Pasquil rod. The control handle's lower end is connected to the connecting piece 51 via a connector link 52, which can accept the joint movements which occur in a vertical direction as shown in the figure between the control handle 13 and the connecting piece 51 when the control handle is turned back and forth in the direction of the arrow 42, whereby the Pasquil rod 50 is moved back and forth in a horizontal direction as shown in the figure; i.e., substantially along the length of the sash.
A pair of bolts 53 is arranged in the sash 2 which, as shown, are connected to said Pasquil rod 50 by swivel connectors 54. Said bolts 53 are controlled in the sash by control surfaces 55 and 56, which will ensure that when the Pasquil rod 50 is moved to the right the bolts 53 will slide up into the sash; for example, into the second sash element 6. Analogously, moving the Pasquil rod 50 to the left will cause the bolts to be turned about the swivel connectors 54, so that a lower end of the bolts will move downward and interlock with a frame member (for example, a striking plate), causing the sash to be secured against the frame. As previously described, the lower end of the bolts 53 may be equipped with additional lock components in the form of pin-shaped components 57, which, as previously described, will secure the sash from being broken open.
The structure shown in Fig. 5 is only an example of a structure according to the invention, in which the control handle, the connections to it, and locking mechanisms are wholly or partially contained in the second sash element 6 or 6'. It may clearly be seen that more or fewer than two bolts can be used, that other types of bolts than those illustrated can be used, that other transmission connections than the one shown can be used, and that another type of control handle can be used. Furthermore, it may clearly be seen that another type of sash structure could be involved, in which one or more sash elements may be used in addition to the second sash element 6; for example, a third sash element 20 in connection with the second sash element 6', as shown in Fig. 2.
Fig. 6 shows different structures for locking mechanisms; for example, a lock tongue or a lock bolt 62a - 62d, as well as a corresponding design for tracks in the frame member or striking plates 60a - 60d. Figures 6a - 6d shows both the profile of a lock component, for example as seen from the front as the locking mechanisms are shown in Fig. 1 - 3, and shown at an axis of rotation 63, as well as a corresponding track in a frame member or a striking plate as seen from above, in which said components are shown next to one another, although they will of course be arranged on top of one another during use.
Fig. 6a shows a typically used design, in which the locking mechanisms 62a have a uniform width which substantially corresponds to the track 61a. Fig. 6b shows a design in which the locking mechanism 62b has a pin-shaped component 65 which extends to one side, and in which the track 61b has a corresponding expansion 64 to one side.
When the locking mechanisms 62b are arranged above the component 61b and are turned about the axis, the pin-shaped component 65 can go down into the track through the expansion 64, and when the locking mechanisms 62b are turned all the way down in the track, the non-expanded portion of the track 61b will prevent the pin-shaped component 65 from being pulled up again.
Fig. 6c shows a similar design, in which the track 61c is equipped with expansions 66 on both sides of the track, and in which the locking mechanisms are correspondingly equipped with two pin-shaped components 67. The function of this design is the same as that described above with reference to Fig. 6b. It should be noted that a structure for the locking mechanisms corresponding to 62b could, of course, also be used in connection with the track 61c.
Finally, Fig. 6d shows a design in which the locking mechanisms 62d correspond to 62b, but in which the track 61d is designed with one side 68, which is not parallel to the other side, so that the track has a larger width at one end than at the other end. It may be seen that this design can be used with the same result as that described above.
Designs for locking mechanisms and lock tracks other than those shown are possible, because it is only necessary that the track have different widths at different places, and that the locking mechanisms have one or more pin-shaped components which can be moved into the track in one position and which can interlock with the track at another position.

Claims

Claims
1. A control system for windows, doors or the like, which comprises a frame (1) and an opening sash (2) with light openings, whereby the opening sash has mechanisms to secure at least one panel-shaped element (9) in the sash's light opening and has a control handle (13) which is connected to mechanisms (15) to secure the opening sash with respect to the frame, characterized in that the sash comprises at least two sash elements, whereby the first sash element (3) comprises a groove (4) to receive an edge of at least one panel-shaped element (9), and whereby a second sash element (6, 6') can be mounted on the first sash element (3) to secure at least one panel-shaped element, and whereby the control handle (13) is at least partially housed in said second sash element (6, 6'), and in such a way that connections (14) from the control handle to said mechanisms (15) to secure the opening sash are at least partially contained in said second sash element (6, 6').

The control system according to claim 1, characterized in that said mechanisms (15) for securing the opening sash comprise mechanisms (16, 57, 65, 67, 69), which, when in the closed position, prevent said mechanisms from moving in a direction which is substantially perpendicular to the length of the sash member.

The control system according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that said mechanisms (15) for securing the opening sash (2) comprise a lock tongue (62b, 62c, 62d) which can be moved about an axis (63), whereby one end of said lock tongue, when in the closed position, is received in a groove-shaped component
(61b, 61c, 61d) in or on the frame, preferably in the form of a striking plate, whereby said end of the lock tongue comprises a pin-shaped component (65, 67, 69) which extends laterally to the lock tongue, and whereby said groove-shaped component has a width at one end which is larger than the corresponding size of said end of the lock tongue, and at its other end has a width which is smaller than the corresponding size of said end of the lock tongue.
4. The control system according to claim 1, 2, or 3, characterized in that the sash further comprises one or more sash elements (20) which can be mounted on the first sash element (3) and/or the second sash element (6').
5. The control system according to claim 4, characterized in that the control handle (13) is at least partially housed in one or more of the additional sash elements (20).
6. The control system according to claim 4, characterized in that the control handle (13) is substantially housed in said second sash element (6').
7. The control system according to claim 4, 5, or 6, characterized in that connections from the control handle to said mechanisms (15) for securing the opening sash are at least partially contained in one or more of the additional sash elements (6').
8. The control system according to one or more of claims 1 - 7, characterized in that the locking mechanisms (15) comprise a lock tongue, and that the control handle (13) forms part of a turning knob.
9. The control system according to one or more of claims 1 - 7, characterized in that the locking mechanisms (15) comprise two or more lock tongues, bolts (15, 53) or the like, whereby connections from the control handle (13) to said mechanisms are designed for simultaneous activation of the locking mechanisms, and whereby said lock tongues, bolts (15, 53), or the like are arranged at a distance from one another along a sash member and/or in proximity to one or both ends of said sash member.
10. A window, door, or the like, comprising a frame (1) and an opening sash (2), whereby the opening sash has mechanisms to secure at least one panel-shaped element (9) in the sash and has a control handle (13) which is connected to mechanisms (15) to secure the opening sash with respect to the frame, characterized in that the window, the door, or the like comprises a control system according to one or more of claims 1 - 9.
