Abstract

Die Erfindung befasst sich mit zwei Verfahren zur Auswahl des QoS-Levels während einer Verbindung zwischen einem ersten Media Gateway 1, das einem ersten Teilnehmer 2 und einem ersten Netzbetreiber 13 zugeordnet ist, und einem zweiten Media Gateway 3, das einem zweiten Teilnehmer 4 und eventuell einem zweiten Netzbetreiber 14 zugeordnet ist, entweder in einem Paketnetz durch einen Wechsel eines CODECs oder in einem Netz durch einen Wechsel der Übertragungstechnik vorzunehmen. In den Verfahren signalisiert der erste Teilnehmer 2 und/oder der erste Netzbetreiber 13 einem ersten Media Gateway Controller 5, daß er einen anderen QoS möchte. Bei einem ersten Verfahren wird über Media Gateways 1, 3 und Media Gateway Controllers 5, 6 eine Änderung des bei der Verbindung verwendeten CODECs erreicht. Beim zweiten Verfahren wird über zusätzliche TDM-Endpunkte 8, 9, 10, 11 und die vorgenannten Komponenten ein Umrouten einer IP-Verbindung 12 auf eine TDM-Verbindung 7 oder umgekehrt erreicht. Dadurch ist es möglich, den QoS-Level an das gerade benötigte Mass anzupassen.
