Description

DETECTION AND ALARM ARRANGEMENT FOR A DOOR OR THE LIKE
The invention relates to a detection and alarm arrangement for a door, a hatch or the like according to the preamble of claim 1 .
Several different detection and alarm arrangements for a door, a hatch or the like are known. Often an aim is to serve as a burglary alarm. A further aim may be to control, whether a door or a hatch is open or closed. Then the sensor generally detects directly the position of the door or the hatch. In ad- dition it is possible to deduce for instance on the basis of the position of the bolt in each case, whether or not the door or the hatch is closed and in addition locked.
The known arrangements are generally quite complicated and expensive. Alarm systems comprise generally separate components and for the installation thereof a specialized expert is needed. The functionality of these systems can be tested only after the installation. In addition their retrofitting may be very difficult or even impossible unless the entire locking system is renewed at the same time.
An aim of the invention is to provide a detection and alarm arrangement to be adapted in doors, hatches or the like, for instance drawers, which is simple and economical and which can easily be implemented also as a retrofit when desired. A further aim is that the arrangement can preferably be as- sembled already at the factory, whereby its operation can be tested at the same time.
The aims of the invention can be met as is more closely described in the appended claims.
According to the present invention there is provided a detection and alarm arrangement for a door, a hatch or the like as claimed in the ensuing claim 1 . In this manner it is possible in a simple way to detect and to provide an alarm when the bolt is in its locked position as such but the door, hatch or the like remains open, whereby there is free entrance to the locked space. The arrangement according to the invention can be assembled already in the factory and its installation requires no special knowledge.
According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention the detecting member includes a protrusion or the like which is arranged in cooperation with the inner end of the bolt so that when the bolt is retracted the bolt moves at the same time the detecting member into its retracted position against the force of the spring.
The lock associated with the arrangement includes in a way known as such a body part and a cover part to be attached thereto. Then the cover part can with advantage be arranged to be installed to the body part so that it is located between the bolt and the detecting member and guides for its part the movements thereof. In addition the cover part includes additionally an aperture for said protrusion or the like. In this manner the movements of the bolt and the detecting member can easily be guided without any other arrange- ments, whereby said members and the construction of the lock can be made as simple as possible and cost effectively.
The lock is with advantage provided with an alarm device, for instance a buzzer, which is arranged to be activated as a consequence of said switching operation of the sensor. In this case the micro switch can in a simple way be arranged to close the circuit of the alarm device. For this purpose the lock may easily be provided with a battery, whereby the arrangement is independent as regards the power supply needed for the alarm device.
The invention will now be described, by way of example only, with particular reference to the accompanying drawings, in which Figs. 1 a and 1 b show an arrangement according to the invention as a front view and a side view,
Figs. 2a and 2b show schematically the arrangement of Figs. 1 a and 1 b as a front view and a side view partly in section in a situa- tion in which the bolt and the detecting member of the lock are in their retracted position,
Figs. 3a and 3b show schematically the arrangement of Figs. 1 a and 1 b as a front view and a side view partly in section in a situation in which the bolt of the lock is in its locked position and the detecting member remains inside the lock blocked by the counter piece of the lock,
Figs. 4a and 4b show schematically the arrangement of Figs. 1 a and 1 b as a front view and a side view partly in section in a situation in which the bolt and the detecting member of the lock are in their protruding position.
In figures 1 a and 1 b a detection and alarm arrangement according to the invention is disclosed, installed in a door or the like 3, which in figure 1 b is shown in dotted line and is left away from figure 1 a for the sake of clarity. In other figures the construction and the operation of the arrangement is described in a simplified manner schematically and the side views being partly in section.
The arrangement includes a body part of the lock 1 to which a cover part 4 is fixed. A key operated lock mechanism 2 is fixed to these. This assembly is fixed to the door or the like 3 in a way known as such, for instance by screws (not shown).
The lock includes also a bolt 5 having an aperture 5a. A suitable eccentric member (not shown), known as such, is coupled to the lock mechanism 2 to be functionally connected with the aperture 5a and by turning of which with a key, after opening of the lock mechanism, movement of the bolt 5 between the protruding and retracted positions is accomplished. In addition the lock includes a detecting member 6 which has a protrusion 6a which is arranged in cooperation with the inner end of the bolt 5. A spring 7 urges the detecting member 6 into its protruding position. The members 5 and 6 are mutually arranged so that the cover part 4 remains between them, whereby movements of the members are controllably guided. The cover part 4 includes an aperture 4a for the protrusion 6a of the detecting member 6.
The arrangement includes further a micro switch 8, which, on the basis of the movements of the detecting member, is arranged to open and close a circuit (cf. figure 4a) which includes a buzzer 9 serving as an alarm device and a battery 10 for supply of power.
In figures 2a and 2b the lock mechanism 2 is open and the bolt 5 is with- drawn with the key of the lock. At the same time, because of the protrusion 6a, also the detecting member 6 is retracted against the force of the spring 7. Then the micro switch 8 is in a closed position and the circuit is not connected. The door can be freely opened.
In figures 3a and 3b the door is locked, whereby the bolt 5 is moved by means of the key of the lock into its position in which it is located in an opening of a counter piece 1 1 of the lock fixed to a frame or other basic construction of the space to be locked. The counter piece 1 1 prevents movement of the detecting member 6 into its protruding position whereby the po- sition of the micro switch 8 remains unchanged and no alarm is provided. Since the bolt 5 is in its locked position the key of the lock can be removed from the lock.
Also in the situation of figures 4a and 4b the bolt 5 is locked and thus the key can be removed from the lock. In this case the door itself remains open, whereby the counter piece 1 1 does not prevent movement of the detecting member 6, urged by the spring 7, into its protruding position. As a conse- quence the micro switch 8 moves to its open position and the circuit is connected to the buzzer 9, which gives alarm. Hereby it is possible to secure in a simple way that the door is not inadvertently left open, although the bolt 5 is moved by the key of the lock into its protruding or locked position and the key is removed from the lock.
The invention is not limited to the embodiment shown but several modifications are feasible within the scope of the attached claims.
