Abstract

The invention relates to a cooling device for shaft furnaces, such as blast furnaces or similar, consisting of a highly heat conductive material, preferably copper or copper alloys, and comprising a cooling element (1) which has coolant channels and which is configured in the form of a hollow body. Said cooling element has a basic shape which is vaulted forwards, towards the inside of the furnace, in the vertical section, e.g. essentially forming a triangle pointing towards the inside of the furnace. On at least one surface facing towards the fireproof inner lining (4', 8') of the furnace, the cooling element has a stepped, saw-tooth-type or similar structured upper surface contour (4, 8). Said cooling element is arranged in such a way as to protect a cooling ring (3) of the tuyere level. The invention also relates to furnaces with cooling devices of this type.
