Description

Advertising device
The invention relates to an advertising device that contains an advertising board that is supplied with a supporting structure and has an information carrying zone and at least one supplementary advertising member connected to the advertising board through a connecting part-unit, the advertising board and the supplementary advertising member are separated from each other by a gap.
Advertising devices that attract the attention of customers receive an increasingly important role during the development of trade with the growth in the amount of goods and the number of services, numerous versions of which are in use today. Included among these are advertising boards with a carrying body of differing size and form serving to display information.
A group of these consists of those the advertising surface of which is divided into rotating picture fields. The picture field modules are practically formed by triangular shaped prisms, and which rotate around the longitudinal axis of the prism. A driving motor is connected to the individual picture field modules or to certain groups of the picture field modules and the picture field modules can carry out synchronised rotation. The picture appearing on the advertising surface is formed by the arranged sections of the picture field module prisms. Such a solution, among others, is described by patent description with registration number HU 213.133. The undoubted advantage of such rotating section advertising devices is that, in essence, three advertisement posters can be placed on one surface. However, its disadvantage is that the information displayed on the posters - similarly to the other, usual advertisements - do not call attention to themselves, they do not present a unique characteristic that attracts the attention of passers by, and so the effectiveness of such advertisements is no better than the effectiveness of the usual posters.
The effectiveness of advertisements may only be increased in the case that due to the construction, structure of the advertising device they have a pictorial appearance different to that generally seen and so call attention to themselves. Patent description registered under No. HU 217.229 describes apparatus for displaying advertisements beside public roads the essence of which is that in front of the advertising board one or more partially overlapping modifying elements are fixed to the board. A person travelling in a vehicle sees the board and the modifying elements arranged in front of it from a continually changing angle due to his/her own movement, as a result of which the person senses the advertisement as if it were moving.
The disadvantage of this arrangement, however, is that the illusion is only created when people move and in that case only if the movement is relatively fast. Over and above this the advertisement is only realised in a satisfactory manner if the observer sees the advertising board from a relatively large distance. As a consequence of this the practical applicability of advertising devices constructed in this manner is quite restricted.
Our objective with the solution according to the invention was to overcome the deficiencies of the known versions and to create a construction that in spite of its simple construction it provides an astounding sight that shows movement and so is attention grabbing for both pedestrians and those travelling by vehicle, independently of what distance or angle the advertising device is seen at.
The recognition that led us to the construction according to the invention was that if a part of the visible surface of the advertising board is replaced by a body that is in a plane different to that of the face of the advertising board so that it is forced to rotate around an axis and, in a given case, to move along a path, then the task can be solved.
According to the set aim the advertising device according to the invention - that contains an advertising board that is supplied with a supporting structure and has an information carrying zone and at least one supplementary advertising member connected to the advertising board through a connecting part-unit, the advertising board and the supplementary advertising member are separated from each other by a gap - is formed in such a way that in the information carrying zone of the advertising board there are one or more openings that connect its face surface and back surface, at least one of the supplementary advertising members is placed in the vicinity of the opening covering at least a part of it, furthermore, the connection part-unit has a primary propelling body fixed to the supplementary advertising member and a drive unit which has a driving motor that is connected to the primary propelling body, the drive unit is fixed to the advertising board directly or with the insertion of a mediation device, and so the supplementary advertising member is fixed to the advertising board in such a way that it may be moved as compared to the information carrying zone of the advertising board.
A further criterion of the advertising device according to the invention may be that there is a movement directing structure in the vicinity of the opening that directs the movement according to the shape of the opening, and the primary propelling body of the supplementary advertising body is connected to the movement directing structure in such a way as to permit slipping.
In a possible construction form of the invention the drive unit is supplemented with a movement transmission unit fitted between driving motor and the primary propelling body of the supplementary advertising member. The movement transmission unit has a secondary motor, and the secondary motor is connected to the primary propelling body of the supplementary advertising member.
In a further possible construction form of the invention, the angle (a) between the longitudinal axis of the primary propelling body and the face surface of the advertising board is greater than 0 degrees, but a maximum of 90°.
In another further possible construction form of the invention the longitudinal axis of the primary propelling body of the supplementary advertising member is parallel to the face surface of the advertising board.
In another version of the invention the supplementary advertising member is in front of the face surface of the advertising board, the drive unit is placed behind the back surface of the advertising board and the primary propelling body is fixed to the supplementary advertising member through the opening.
It may be favourable from the point of view of the advertising device if the supplementary advertising member and the drive unit are positioned behind the back surface of the advertising board. Again in a further different construction form of the invention the supplementary advertising member is at least partially fitted into the opening in the advertising board, the drive unit is positioned behind the back surface of the advertising board, and the longitudinal axis of the primary propelling body is projected through the opening.
In a construction of the advertising device one or more supporting bushes are fixed to the back surface of the advertising board, and the end of the primary propelling body, opposite to the end where the drive unit is, is connected to the supporting bush so as to permit rotation.
In an advantageous version of the invention the driving motor is an electric motor the speed of rotation of which may be regulated. The driving motor and/or the secondary motor are connected to a control unit.
The most important advantage of the advertising device according to the invention is that due to its novel arrangement a moving, supplementary advertising member appears on the advertising board the movement of which provides an astounding sight for the observer, and with this attracts attention to itself, so making the advertisement itself more effective.
Another advantage is that due to the novel arrangement of the advertising board and the supplementary advertising member, the spectacle can be enjoyed independently of the position of the observer, so pedestrians and those travelling in vehicles, both from close up and at a distance, see an undistorted moving picture. According to this the attention- grabbing effect of the unique spectacle is realised to a wider extent, which greatly increases the effectiveness of the advertisement.
Another advantage is that the structure according to the invention may be prepared and set up easily, using simple equipment, and its commissioning does not require much specialist knowledge.
Another further advantage is that in the case of the same advertising board the arrangement used in the case of one advertisement can be easily changed during the putting up of a new advertisement, so the flexibility of changing the arrangement of the components - in spite of the moving structural elements - is essentially equal to that of traditional advertising boards. Among the economic advantages is that the novel arrangement may also be realised in the case of traditional advertising boards with the minimum of conversion and with low costs.
We present the invention in the following in detail in connection with construction examples and on the basis of drawings. On the drawings
Figure 1 is a view picture of a possible version of the advertising device, partly in section,
Figure 2 is a cross section along the plane II-II of figure 1,
Figure 3 is a view picture of another set up of the advertising device, partly in section,
Figure 4 is a cross section along the plane IN-IN of figure 3,
Figure 5 is the front view of another, different version of the advertising device,
Figure 6 is the view in the direction NI of figure 5, partly in section,
Figure 7 is a view picture of a further construction example of the advertising device, partly in section,
Figure 8 is the front view of a further different version of the advertising device, partly in section,
Figure 9 is the view in the direction IX of figure 8, partly in section.
On figures 1 and 2 a possible construction of the advertising device can be seen. It can be observed that in this case the advertising board is a billboard which is fixed to the supporting structure la. The supporting structure la is formed by the usual closed section lattice girder. The information carrying zone 2 can be found on the face surface lb of the advertising board 1, in which characters and markings 2a containing figures are placed.
Also in front of the face surface lb of the advertising board 1 there is the supplementary advertising member 3, which is fixed to the primary propelling body 5 belonging to the connection part-unit 8. The primary propelling body 5 is led through the opening Id formed in the advertising board 1. Figure 2 clearly shows that the opening Id starting from the face surface lb of the advertising board 1 opens out at the back surface lc of the advertising board 1, so the primary propelling body 5 penetrates the complete thickness of the advertising board 1, and holds the supplementary advertising member 3 at a distance "t" in front of the face surface lb of the advertising board 1. Figure 2 also illustrates that the end 5b of the primary propelling body 5 opposite the supplementary advertising member 3 is connected to the drive unit 6 belonging to the connection part-unit 8. In the present version the drive unit 6 is fixed to the back surface lc of the advertising board 1. A part of the drive unit 6 is the driving motor 6a, the task of which is to continuously or intermittently force the supplementary advertising member 3 to rotate in the direction of rotation shown on figure 1. Here the longitudinal axis 5 a of the primary propelling body 5 is at right angles to the face surface lb of the advertising board 1, while the supplementary advertising member 3 - in any position - is parallel to the face surface lb.
During the operation of the advertising device shown in figure 1 when the driving motor 6a of the drive unit 6 is switched on the primary propelling body 5 starts to move and rotates the supplementary advertising member 3 in the direction of rotation 4, in a plane parallel with the face surface lb of the advertising board 1, which moving round and round in front of the face surface lb of the advertising board 1 provides a novel, astounding spectacle for the observer. The rotation of the supplementary advertising member 3 continues until the driving motor 6a of the drive unit 6 is switched off.
On figures 3 and 4 a different arrangement of the invention can be observed. Here also to be found are the advertising board 1, the supporting structure la that supports it, furthermore, the information carrying zone 2, positioned on the face surface lb of the advertising board 1, that includes the markings 2a, and also the opening Id. Here also the drive unit 6 that has a driving motor 6a forming the connection part-unit is fixed to the back surface lc of the advertising board, to which one end 5b of the primary propelling body is connected.
Differing to that described in the previous example, however, here the longitudinal axis 5a of the primary propelling body 5 is in a plane parallel to that of the face surface lb of the advertising board 1, and passes behind the opening formed in the face surface lb of the advertising board 1. In this version the size of the opening Id exceeds the dimensions of the supplementary advertising member 3.
As can be clearly seen on diagram 4, the opening Id is of such a size that the gap "t" is formed between the supplementary advertising member 3 and the part of the advertising board 1 surrounding the opening Id. The value of the gap "t" is to be selected so that the supplementary advertising member 3 does not get obstructed by the edge of the opening Id of the advertising board 1 while it is rotating.
In the interest of the safe rotation of the supplementary advertising member 3, and for the purpose of avoiding the buckling of the primary propelling body the other end 5c of the primary propelling body 5 is bedded into the supporting bush 7 in such a way that it may rotate. The supporting bush 7 is fixed to the back surface lc of the advertising board 1.
During the operation of this version on switching on the drive unit the primary propelling body 5 rotated by the driving motor 6a spins the supplementary advertising member 3 around the vertical longitudinal axis 5 a in the direction of rotation 4. During the rotation of the supplementary advertising member 3 it turns into the opening Id of the advertising board 1 and then turns out of it, and is then in a plane that is parallel to the face surface lb of the advertising board 1. Periodically repeating this movement, the advertising device provides a unique spectacle, which also attracts the attention of the observer.
Figures 5 and 6 show a further different construction form of the advertising device. Here also you can find the primary propelling body 5 and drive unit 6 forming the connection part-unit 8. However, an important difference is that the drive unit 6 in this version, beside the driving motor, it also includes a movement transmission part-unit 6b and a secondary motor 6c. The movement transmission part-unit consists of a disc 6b' and an arm 6b". The disc 6b' is fixed to the driving motor 6a, while one end of the arm 6b" is connected to the disc 6b' so that it can rotate freely, and at the other end the secondary motor 6c is situated.
Here also the supplementary advertising member 3 is fitted to the primary propelling body 5, which, however, in this version is connected to the axle of the secondary motor 6c. Naturally, it can be imagined that the primary propelling body is axle of the secondary motor 6c itself.
On figure 6 it can also be seen that the control unit 10 is situated on the back surface lc of the advertising board. The control unit 10 is, on the one hand, connected to the driving motor 6a and, on the other hand, connected to the secondary motor 6c, and its task is by changing the speed of rotation of the driving motor 6a and the secondary motor 6c - according to a suitable program - to make the movement of the supplementary advertising member 3 more unique, more interesting and so more attention grabbing.
Figure 5 shows that the opening Id is not a circular hole, but a longish slot in the shape of a wavy line. On the back surface lc of the advertising board 1 there is a movement directing structure 9 running along the opening Id, following the curve formed by the opening Id - and shown on figure 6 - which is a very stiff, practically metal rail. The arm 6b" of the movement transmission part-unit 6b that carries the primary propelling body 5 and that supports the secondary motor 6c is supported on this rail-like movement directing structure 9. One end 5b of the primary propelling body is behind the back surface lc of the advertising board 1, while the other end 5c is in front of the face surface lb of the advertising board 1, in this way the primary propelling body 5 penetrates the advertising board 1, and the supplementary advertising member 3 is positioned in front of the face surface lb of the advertising board 1 at a distance "t".
During the operation of the solution presented on figures 5 and 6 on the switching on of the control unit 10 both the driving motor 6a and the secondary motor 6c start to move. The secondary motor 6c rotates the primary propelling body 5, the longitudinal axis 5a of which is at right angles to the face surface lb of the advertising board, and so the supplementary advertising member 3 also starts to rotate in an unrestricted manner together with the primary propelling body 5. While the secondary motor 6c rotates the supplementary advertising member 3 around the longitudinal axis 5 a, the driving motor 6a starts to spin the disc 6b' of the movement transmission part-unit 6b. The spinning disc 6b' - depending on its position - either pulls or pushes the arm 6b", which due to its eccentric position carries out essentially an alternating movement. While the arm 6b" is moving back and forth, the secondary motor 6c fitted to the end of the arm 6b" at the primary propelling body 5 also moves back and forth along the opening Id, as a consequence of which the supplementary advertising member 3 fitted to the primary propelling body 5 does not only rotate around the longitudinal axis 5a of the primary propelling body 5, but also moves back and forth in front of the face surface lb of the advertising board 1 along the course permitted by the opening Id, in front of the markings 2a of the information carrying zone 2. On figure 7 an advertising board 1 can be seen in which the supplementary advertising member 3 can be found behind the back surface lc of the advertising board 1, as can the drive unit 6 that forms the connection part unit 8 and the primary propelling body 5. Here also the primary propelling body 5 is connected to the driving motor 6a of the drive unit 6, but the longitudinal axis 5 a of the primary propelling body 5 is parallel with the back surface lc of the advertising board 1 and is positioned horizontally. The supplementary advertising member 3 is an endless belt, which is completely positioned behind the opening Id of the advertising board. The opening Id is in the middle of the information carrying zone 2 containing the markings 2a. The supplementary advertising member
On the operation of the advertising board 1 according to figure 7 the primary propelling body 5 rotated by the driving motor 6a of the drive unit 6 drives the belt-like supplementary advertising member 3 stretched out in the opening Id of the advertising board 1, which, depending on the direction of rotation of the driving motor 6a, moves from the primary propelling body 5 in the direction of the tension cylinder 7a, or moves in just the opposite direction behind the opening Id in the form of a glass. This movement of the supplementary advertising member 3 creates the effect of the glass being emptied and being filled again.
In the advertising board 1 that can be seen in figures 8 and 9 the opening Id is also a thin slot running lengthways along the face surface lb of the advertising board 1. The supplementary advertising member 3 and the connection part-unit 8 are doubled here. Figure 9 shows that beside the left-hand, disc formed supplementary advertising member 3 placed behind the back surface lc of the advertising board 1 partially behind it there is also another supplementary advertising member 3' on the right hand side of the back surface lc of the advertising board. The connection part unit 8 of the supplementary advertising member 3 contains the primary propelling body 5 and the drive unit 6, while the connection part unit 8' of the supplementary advertising member 3' contains a primary propelling body 5' and a drive unit 6' the same as that described previously.
In the case of the outlined arrangement from the face surface lb of the advertising board 1 only the information carrying zone 2 supplied with markings 2a and a piece of the supplementary advertising member 3 and a piece of supplementary advertising member 3' appearing in the opening Id formed in the information carrying zone 2 can be seen.
On the operation of the advertising board 1 appearing in figures 8 and 9 the primary propelling bodies 5 and 5' moved by the drive units 6 and 6' rotate the supplementary advertising members 3 and 3' in the desired direction, the portions of which that can be seen through the opening Id creates the effect as if certain details of the markings 2a in the information carrying zone 2 on the advertising board 1 moved.
On the basis of the examples presented in the above it can be seen that numerous different forms of the advertising device according to the invention can be realised. In every case and important and basic condition, however, is that one or more supplementary advertising members 3 are positioned in the information carrying zone 2 of the advertising board 1 that can be made to move, and as a result of this movement this movement causes animation-like visible changes in the information carrying zone 2 of the advertising board.
The advertising device according to the invention can be well applied during the advertising of all types of product and service to increase the effectiveness of the advertisement.
