Abstract

A method for detecting moving objects in real time is provided for a camera moved in pan/tilt. According to the method for detecting the moving objects, in case of recognizing a camera pan/tilt, the method does not detect a moving in the total area of image, but detects the moving in each line. Then, the method detects an edge of the image, calculates coordinates of the moving objects, and thus reduces a quantity of calculation as well as enhances a moving detection speed. Als, since the method uses the edge part of the image without using the total area of the image, a moving object can be accurately detected.

Claims

1. A method for detecting a moving object in a camera moved by a pan/tilt driver, comprising the steps of: (a) obtaining a plurality of images by using the camera;
(b) detecting edge components of the plurality of images so as to detect the moving object within the plurality of images; (c) comparing the edge components mutually;
(d) calculating a coordinates of the moving object;
(e) adjusting a motion of the pan/tilt driver by using the calculated coordinates; and (f) detecting a motion of the moving object by tracking the motion of the pan/tilt driver.
2. The method of claim 1, wherein the plurality of images is at least two images that are placed in the vicinity of a time point at which a motion of the camera is detected.
3. The method of claim 1, wherein the comparing step (c) stores a difference value between the edge components while the camera moves horizontally and vertically, and regards the smallest value of the difference value as a motion of a corresponding edge component.
4. The method of claim 1, wherein the camera has a detection speed of 67ms.
5. The method of claim 1, wherein the camera has an average detection speed of 12 frames per a second because an input unit for supporting a speed of 15 frames per a second is employed.
6. The method of claim 1, wherein the motion of the moving object is detected by a line matching method.
7. A method for detecting a moving object in a camera moved by a pan/tilt driver, comprising the steps of: receiving an image from the camera, analyzing the image, and detecting a motion within the image; recognizing a target, and calculating a coordinates of the target; controlling a pan/tilt value of the pan/tilt driver by using the calculated coordinates; and automatically tracking the moving object by using the camera moved by the pan/tilt value, and automatically monitoring the moving object.
