AN INFORMATION PLATE
Technical field of the invention
The invention relates to an information plate to be attached to a container for showing the type of content(s) contained therein and relates to a container having such a plate attached. In particular, the plate may be or is attached to coffee plungers.
Background of the invention
Different kinds of labels, tickets and tags for being attached to a product and informing about the product are known from prior art.
US 5,261 ,176 discloses a beverage identification tags for cup handles. The tags comprises split ring tags, each defining a substantially encloses opening larger than the cross section of the handle of a container, such as a coffee cup intended for holding a customer's beverage.
US 5,868,430 discloses a reusable retail product information tag. The tag comprises a hole with a slit that snaps over the product.
FR 2 766 219 discloses an etiquette to be attached to a product.
GB 2 263 095 discloses a label for structural components and whereon information may be displayed.
Description of the invention
The customer is often not informed about the ingredients or type of drink there is contained in the pot or glass when a drink is served at a restaurant. In particular, the type or blend of the coffee is not informed when you order a pot or cup of coffee.
Therefore, it is an aim of the present invention to provide a device that can easily be attached to the served container informing the customer about at least the content(s) therein.
According to a first aspect, the present invention relates to an information plate for a container, the plate comprising:
- a sheet comprising:
- at least two anchorage devices for anchoring the sheet to the container, and
- a field for containing information about at least the content in the container.
The sheet comprises at least two anchorage devices, so that the plate cannot swing around one single point and then conflict with, e.g., the pouring rim of the container when pouring or drinking from the container.
Preferably, each of the at least two anchorage devices is adapted to anchor the sheet to at least a part of a projection on the container. The projections could be the handle and/or a part of a lid.
In a preferred embodiment, the anchorage devices comprise at least two holes punched in the sheet, each of the holes having a slit extending from the encircling edge of the hole to the edge of the sheet.
The holes may be oppositely positioned in the sheet, and the hole together with the slit may form a substantially T-shaped hole. The hole may have any shape such as substantially circular or triangular or quadrangular.
For obtaining a proper attachment to the container, the width of at least a part of the slit may be smaller than the thickness of said part of the projection on the container. Thus, the plate cannot fall of the container when, e.g., pouring or drinking from it. Furthermore, it is important that the plate is properly attached to the container in case the content is medicine, so that the user always knows what's in the container.
Preferably, the slit is cone-shaped, so that the width of the slit decreases from the edge of the sheet towards said encircling edge of the hole. Thus, it is easier to strip the slits around the projections, respectively.
Alternatively, or additionally, the plate may be attached to the container by means of glue or tape.
The field containing the information may be positioned at any useful area of the sheet, but preferably said field is positioned between the at least two anchorage devices.
The sheet may be made of paper or cardboard or plastic or metal or a combination thereof. Preferably, it is made of paper, so that it is easy and environment-friendly to get
In particular, the plate is adapted to a container comprising a coffee plunger, preferably of the known type, comprising:
- a pot preferably being transparent and having a upper opening, - a removable lid covering said opening,
- a piston rod through-going said lid and having in its lower end a filter, and
- a handle.
The piston rod and the handle may constitute said projections, and the plate is then mounted to the plunger by stripping the slits around the piston rod and the handle, respectively.
The plate may of course be attached to other containers, cups, pots, glass etc., and the content may comprise coffee or tea or refreshing drinks or beer or soda water or drinks or medicine or any dry-/solid matters.
The information may be the type and/or blend and/or volume and/or admixtures and/or producer of the content and/or name of the waiter and/or the price of the content.
When manufacturing the plate, the information may be printed in the field or it may be provided in the field after the sheet has been manufactured. The information may be manually written in the field by means of, e.g., pencils or pasted on by use of pre-printed labels.
According to a second aspect, the invention relates to a method for manufacturing an information plate according to the first aspect and comprising the steps of:
- drawing up the outline of a plurality of information plates on one or more sheets, and - cutting out said information plates from the sheet by cutting means.
The information plates may be punched or cut out by use of a pair of scissors or laser cutting or water cutting.
The method may further comprise, prior to the step of cutting out, the step of printing the information in the field.
Alternatively or additionally, the information plates may be rolled up like a scroll, so that the waiter can draw out one plate at a time just like when drawing a queue number, e.g., at the post office. The method may then comprise the step of rolling up the plates in a scroll.
According to a third aspect, the invention relates to a method for presenting information of a content in a container by use of an information plate comprising:
- a sheet comprising:
- at least two anchorage devices for anchoring the sheet to the container, and
- a field for containing information about at least the content in the container.
wherein the method comprises the steps of:
- providing said information in the field, and
- positioning the sheet on the container by use of said anchorage devices.
The information may be provided by writing it in the field or by pasting a pre-printed label in the field.
According to a fourth aspect, the invention relates to a method for making and serving coffee comprising the steps of:
- dosing coffee beans into a grinder,
- positioning a plunger below said grinder,
- grinding the coffee beans directly into said plunger by activating said grinder,
- filling hot water into said plunger containing the ground beans, - attaching an information plate according to the first and second aspect to the plunger, and
- serving the coffee.
If the information plates are rolled up like a scroll, so that the waiter can pull out one plate at a time, the method may further comprise, subsequently to the step of filling, the step of drawing out an information plate from the scroll.
When the customer has emptied the plunger, the information plate can easily be removed therefrom, the plunger can be cleaned, and a new plate can be attached thereto.
It should be understood that, though the present invention relates to a number of independent aspects, any combination of these aspects is possible within the scope of the present invention.
Brief description of the figures
A preferred embodiment of the invention will be described in details below with reference to the figures, wherein
Fig. 1 shows the outlines of an information plate (scale 1 :1) according to the invention,
Fig. 2 shows a sheet with a plurality of information plates (scale 1 :0,75),
Fig. 3 and 4 each show a picture wherein an information plate mounted to coffee plunger is seen from different angles.
Detailed description of the figures
Fig. 1 shows the outlines of an information plate (1). The information plate comprises two oppositely arranged substantially T-shaped anchorage devices (2) constituted by a hole
(3) and a cone-shaped slit (4). The information plate comprises a field (5) between the holes, wherein information about the contents in a container may be indicated. The T- shaped holes are adapted to be stripped around projections on a container, so as to hold the information plate to the container.
Fig. 2 shows a sheet comprising five information plates (1), which can be cut out, e.g., by punching or by using a pair of scissors.
Fig. 3 shows an information plate (1) mounted to a coffee plunger (7). The information plate is mounted to the plunger by stripping the cone-shaped slit (4) around the piston rod (6) and the handle (8) of the plunger. As the width of the slits is smaller than the cross section of the piston rod (6) and the handle (8), the information plate is anchored to the plunger in the holes (3), so that it cannot come off when, e.g., pouring out the content from the plunger.
