Abstract

The product packaging is based on a box and its principle is based on the fact that a board cover (6) bearing an artwork reproduction or a reproduction of commercial use is attached to at least one inner side (5) and/or at least one outer side (8) of the box. In the most convenient version the board cover (6) is attached to the inside (5) of the box with at least one cut-out hole (4), while it is pressed to the inside (5) by a holding-down flap (7).

Description

PRODUCT PACKAGING
BACKGROUND AND SUMMARY OF THE PRESENT TECHNICAL SOLUTION
The technical solution concerns packaging of products, particularly packaging using a reproduction of an art work or its element, or possibly a reproduction of commercial application.
Common packaging of products usually consists of a box, usually consisting of an upper cover and lower cover (lower part of the box). The covers or also the sides of the box are usually hard printed in a printing company according to a presented graphical design. Low variability of this solution is a drawback, as each intervention in the graphical design of the packaging is costly, as the whole process involving the work of a graphic studio, production of new films and the final change of print preparation must be implemented. Each change of packaging caused by maybe just a partial change in graphics represents new production even of the unchanged packaging elements. Printing such boxes in small series is uneconomical, and large series represent a lot of money blocked in the packaging and also full storage spaces to store the packaging.
There are also boxes with transparent foil covers which enable customers to see the products packed inside the boxes. Drawbacks of these boxes are similar to those mentioned above in the previous technique.
The packaging of products proposed by the technical solution removes the existing drawbacks of common packaging, especially a box based on the principle that an art- work reproduction or a reproduction of commercial use is attached to at least one inside wall of the box and/or to at least one outside wall of the box, printed on an individual board cover.
According to the first advantageous solution the board cover is attached to an inner side of the box, having at least one cut-out hole and is pressed to the side by a flap.
The flap can be a part of the box, e.g. its cover, or may be a separate part put inside the box. From commercial reasons it is reasonable to place a commercial-use motif or another artwork reproduction on the inside of the board cover pressed by the flop to the box side.
According to the second variation of the technical solution the board cover is glued to the inside of the box with at least one cut-out hole. The glue may be applied on the whole inner side of the box, or on just its part - i.e. on a part of the upper or lower cover, or on one of the side walls.
According to the third variation of the technical solution the board cover is glued on the outside of the box, e.g. to the whole surface of the upper lid to cover the whole lid or just its part. This can be applied on any part of the box.
According to the fourth variation of the technical solution the board cover is inserted between the outer part of the box, e.g. the upper lid, and a transparent foil with which the box is provided. Although there have been four basic possibilities of attaching a board cover bearing an artwork reproduction to the packaging box described here, it is expected that the board cover may be attached to the box by a combination of the above methods, e.g. a flop and glue.
The main advantage of the technical solution described above is, that a separate board forming a part of packaging enables a standard box used e.g. for packaging of food to bear various pictures and motifs like Christmas motifs, seasons of the year, important events, motifs aimed at particular target groups. The technical solution will substantially widen the range of packaging motifs and contribute to attractiveness of the offered products. The next advantage of the technical solution is in the savings in the field of storage as it is not necessary to order the complete packaging of particular goods but just a particular motif on the board covers.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
The technical solution will be explained in detail on drawings of an example of a food box
- fig. 1 shows unfolded shape of the upper lid with one rectangular cut-out hole to which a board cover bearing an artwork reproduction is attached by a holding-down flap,
- fig. 2a shows the outside and fig. 2b shows the inside of unfolded shape of the upper lid with one triangular cut-out hole to which a board cover bearing an artwork reproduction is glued to the inside of the box lid,
- fig. 2c shows the outside and fig. 2d shows the inside of the folded upper lid as in figures 2a and 2b,
- fig. 2e shows the outside and fig. 2f shows the inside of unfolded part of the upper lid of a rectangular box with one oval cut-out hole to which a board cover bearing an artwork reproduction is glued to the inside of the box lid.
- fig. 2g and 2h show the folded lid as in figures 2e and 2f,
- fig. 2i shows the outside and fig. 2j shows the inside of folded upper lid of a box with one oval cut-out hole to which an oval board cover glued to the inside of the box lid.
- fig. 3a shows the outside and fig. 3b shows the inside of unfolded part of the upper lid of a box with the board cover glued over the whole outside surface of the upper lid.
- fig. 3c shows the outside and fig. 3d shows the inside of unfolded part of the upper lid of a box with the board cover glued on a part of the upper lid.
- fig. 3e and 3f show the folded block-shaped upper lid as in figures 3c and 3d,
- fig. 4 shows an upper lid of a box with one cut-out hole and the board cover inserted into guiding groves made around the hole.
- fig. 5 shows an upper lid of a block-shaped box to the sides of which the board cover is glued.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
The packaging for food products presented in figures 1 - 5 has a form of a box usually consisting of an upper lid 2 and a lower part which is not shown. An artwork reproduction or a commercial use reproduction printed on a separate board cover 6 is attached to at least one side of the box - lower or upper lid. The box as well as the board cover are usually made of cardboard, other materials are also possible, especially for the board cover 6.
The following examples describe the process of making the upper cover 2 of the box and the attached board cover 6 with an artwork reproduction. The board cover 6 may be also attached to the lower cover of the box the same way.
The upper lid 2 of the food packaging box according to fig. 1 has one cut-out hole 4 usually of rectangular shape, but oval or even different shape is also possible. The cut-out hole 4 is covered from the inside by the overleaping board cover 6, while the board cover 6 is pressed to the inside 5 of the upper lid 2 by a holding-down flap 7, which is a part of the upper cover 2. The holding-down flap 7 may also be a separate part of the packaging.
The upper lid 2 of the packaging version in figures 2a - 2j has one cut-out hole 4 covered by the board cover 6 from the inside. The board cover 6 is glued to the inside 5 of the upper lid 2 on the whole overleap around the cut-off hole 4.
The board cover 6 in the version in figures 3a - 3d is attached to the upper lid 2 with glue from the outside 8 of the upper lid 2 either over the whole outside surface (figs. 3a and 3b) or just on its part (figs. 3c and 3d).
The upper lid 2 of the packaging in fig. 4 has one cut-out hole 4 which is covered by the board cover 6, inserted into guiding parts 9 made on the inside of the upper lid 2_in the direction shown by the arrow. The guiding parts 9 can also be made from the outside.
The other possibility is insertion of the board cover between the upper lid and transparent foil - this example is not shown in the drawings.
Figure 5 shows a block-shaped upper lid 2 of a food box where the board cover 6 is glued to parts of the side walls.
Although the technical solution has been explained in relation to the described preferred embodiment it is understood that numerous modification and variations are possible without leaving the extent of the technical solution as it is claimed. The version in fig. 1 may combine for example gluing of the board cover 6 with its pressing by the holding-down flap 7.
The Product Packaging is applicable for a wide range of products, e.g. for sweets like chocolate boxes, chocolate etc.
