Definitions
- the invention relates to a filling station, preferably for pumping fuels, furnished with a serving stand with manipulation means and with an operation unit
- the currently existing filling or gas stations are equipped with subterranean tanks the volume of which amounts to cubic metres, and further comprise serving stands or stands with manipulation means.
- the described standard type of filling stations needs a construction of subterranean tanks, inclusive necessary arrangements against fuel leakage and resulting contamination of ambient soil.
- the system also needs a personnel to serve the station, at least at the cash desk. In most cases the stations operate the whole day through and therefore quite large staff is necessary.
- Density of filling station network is often uneven and in some region a driver might get into trouble before reaching the nearest station. By a standard traffic such a situation could be anticipated and the driver would refill his tank in time. It is a quite different situation in a case when it is necessary to open a temporary station, e.g. at a diversion road, when a current filling station is not available or not accessible and the next one is far away. Such a problem cannot be satisfactory removed by current standard means.
- the present stationary filling stations are not properly equipped for a case of fire within the station. A fire fighting squad has to be called but at the arrival of the team there is usually very little to do and the works concentrate upon the area surrounding the station. It is an object of the invention to create technical means and conditions for opening provisional filling stations with a limited participation of a staff or even without any personnel.
- a filling station furnished with a serving stand with manipulation means and with an operation unit in embodiment in accordance with the present invention, comprising an operation unit which is provided with payment card handling means, the means being furnished with means for reading and recording into the card and further provided with a control unit equipped with an output of a blocking signal, the output being connected to a respective input of a fuel pump control block.
- the operation unit together with the serving stand and a fuel tank are incorporated within a common housing.
- the housing is mobile.
- the service unit is provided with a data transmission block.
- the housing is furnished with fire extinguishing means, the said means operating preferably on an aerosol spraying system.
- a filling station operating completely in a self-service mode without any permanent staff.
- Such a temporary filling station need no large investments and may be later easily transferred to another place.
- Any owner of a special card or owner of a current payment card/as a station service programme shall enable, shall be able to take advantage of the filling station of the above presented type.
- the applied automatically activated, very effective fire extinguishing systems provide for increased safety of the station operation and practically eliminates danger to customers Brief Description of the Drawings
- Fig. 1 shows the said station in a front view
- Fig. 2 presents a block diagram of the operation unit. i .
- a filling station for supplying motor vehicle with fuel.
- the station is equipped with a fuel tank 1, a service stand 2 with pumping equipment and manipulation means 3 and further with an operation unit 4. All the said parts of the station, such as the service stand 2, the operation unit 4 and the fuel tank 1, are all situated in a single housing 5.
- the housing 5 may be either stationary or of a self-supporting construction. In the second embodiment it provides for a mobile filling station.
- the self-supporting construction of the housing 5 allows for transportation and location of a station at a site of immediate need and thus for complementing of the present filling station network, or for creation of a temporary station due to the situation.
- the fuel tank 1 as such is of a known, standard construction, meeting the respective regulations.
- the service stand 2 with the pumping equipment and the manipulation means 3 are just standard devices.
- the operation unit 4 is furnished with a set of indicators providing a customer with information about a unit price, total quantity of received fuel and the respective for that quantity.
- the said indicators are also devices known as such.
- the operation unit 4 is equipped with payment card handling means 6, a control unit 7, a block 8 for monitoring the station parameters, a data transmission block 9 and with a measuring unit 10.
- the measuring unit 10 comprise a unit-price indicator H, a fuel-quantity indicator 12, sum-to-be-paid indicator 13 and a card-balance indicator 14.
- the control unit 7, preferably furnished with a processor, is equipped with four ports. To the first port 71 there are connected the payment card handling means 6 ⁇ The second port 72 . is connected with the measuring unit 10. The third port 73. is connected to an output of the block 8 for monitoring the station parameters and to the fourth port 74 there is connected a fuel pump control block 75.
- the measuring unit 10 is equipped with a port 101 for communication with the control unit 7 and is also provided with an input 102 of signal carrying data about current content of the fuel tank 1 and with a port J03 for data transfer.
- the port 103 for data transfer is connected also to the data transmission block 9 onto which there is connected also the output of the block 8 for monitoring the station parameters.
- the said filling station operates as follows.
- a customer needs a payment card, such as an "electronic wallet", i.e. a card with a contactless data scanning feature.
- a payment card such as an "electronic wallet", i.e. a card with a contactless data scanning feature.
- an authorisation of the card In a case there has been used an improper card or a card with a zero balance the fuel withdrawal is refused being blocked by a signal from the fourth port 74 of the control unit 7.
- the fuel withdrawal is available up to a quantity corresponding to the card balance. Simultaneously with the fuel withdrawal the card balance is decreasing down to the zero figure, when further consumption is automatically stopped.
- the card balance is reduced by the value of the consumed fuel and the final balance appears on the card.
- the start and stop of fuel pumping by the driver himself is carried out by a standard procedure, by means of the manipulation means 3 located at the service stand 2.
- the signal for blocking the fuel pump may be transmitted to the fuel pump control block 75.also from an independent output of the control unit 7
- the block 8 for monitoring the station parameters scans such parameters like a quantity of fuel left in the fuel tank 1, fuel temperature, etc.
- the said block monitors also any manipulation with the station.
- the procedure should prevent loss of the station by robbery or any unauthorized transport to another site. All acquired data are continuously or in pre-set time intervals automatically transmitted to the headquarters, where there are accumulated data from all filling stations of a respective network.
- the said filling station may operate with any kind of fuel, from petrol through fuel oil to gasses like a natural gas or propane-butane.
- the station housing 5 may be further provided with an automatic fire extinguishing equipment, which is activated by excessive temperature increase.
- the said equipment is based on an aerosol spraying system.
- the applied aerosol when dissipated on a heated surface, decreases its temperature to such an extend, that a fire comes to an end .
- the area in front of the housing 5, where all the activities are performed is protected by a similar fire extinguishing system. This system is adjusted so, that it selectively acts upon a source of increased temperature and operates by any climatic condition. Application of the fire extinguishing systems increases the safety of the station operation.
- the present invention' is designed as a mobile equipment for pumping fuel, but it may be used also as means for storing and purchase of other kinds of liquids, like drinking water etc.
