Abstract

The invention relates to a multiautoclave and details of its design. The multiautoclave consists typically of a pressure vessel/autoclave with from 10 to 10,000 small, separated chambers, each typically having a volume of from 0.2 to 2 mL. The chambers are preferably formed from through-going perforations in a central block with the perforations being sealed by means of balls, septa, stoppers, Teflon™ sheets or such which are placed at the bottom and top of each through-going perforation. The perforations are lined with a liner of inert material that extends into each of the perforations. Metal plates are placed over and under the central block so that the locking mechanism presses the individual parts and the seals together with sufficient load to enable the chambers to be filled with liquid and to be heated without the occurrence of leakage.
