Abstract
The invention relates to a packing that protects thermal sensitive material from outside contact or vibrations during transport. The packing consists of two heat-resistant tubes. The first tube is nested within the second tube so that the tube sides enclose the tube-openings. The tube sides are perforated to allow a fast pressure reducing inside the packing, in case of a detonation.
Description
CONTAINER Description
The container consists of two generally similar, angular, perforated tubes, one of which is inserted in the other so that two sides of the container are double- walled and four sides are single-walled. The angular tubes are provided with sides which can be folded against each other in such manner that each tube can be folded so as to minimise storage space when the tubes are not is use. When two folded tubes are opened and one tube is inserted in the other, the assembly forms a stable, enclosed volume in which the thermally sensitive product can be transported, while physically protected by the tubes.
The walls of the tube are perforated, wholly or partially, to enable the pressure in the container to be relieved quickly in the event of detonation or deflagration of the product.
Perforation of the sides can be carried out to varying extents so that at least two sides of the tubes are perforated.
Within the volume created by the tube assembly, the product is placed on a holder which is designed to suit the shape of the product and is provided with spacers to ensure that the product is located centrally in the container.
As and when appropriate, the product holder may contain materials for damping and collecting splinters.
The perforations in the sides of the tubes are designed to ensure rapid relief of the excess pressure in the container.
In applicable cases, a splinter-absorbent material may be placed in the spaces between two or more of the perforated sides.
For ease of handling, the container, consisting of heat-resistant tubes, is enclosed in a casing of a material such as cardboard, paper board or wood.
Claims
PATENT CLAIMS
Patent claim 1
Device comprising a container for the transport of thermally sensitive materials, such as gunpowder and similar materials, characterised by generally similar, angular tubes, one of which can be inserted in the other so that the tube openings are sealed by their sides.
Patent claim 2
Device in accordance with patent claim 1 , characterised in that the product in the container is held in position by a holder, which holder is also designed to prevent any pieces forcibly detached from the object from escaping from the container in the event of an explosion/deflagration.
Patent claim 3
Device in accordance with patent claims 1-2, characterised in that the holder is designed in such manner that any hot gases can reach the object directly from at least two directions.
Patent claim 4
Device in accordance with patent claims 1-3, characterised in that a blocking material is placed between the tubes to prevent pieces forcibly detached from the product from escaping from the container.
Patent claim 5
Device in accordance with patent claims 1-4, characterised in that at least one of the tube sides is provided with a layer of reinforcing material.
Patent claim 6
Device in accordance with patent claims 1-5, characterised in that the container formed by the tubes is enclosed in cardboard, paper board, wood or similar material.
