Abstract

The ability of mosquitoes to locate a target by olfactory emissions of the target is inhibited by dispensing into a spatial area an inhibiting effective amount of at least one inhibiting compound selected from the group consisting of esters of 1-alkene-3-ols of formula (I) and esters of 1-alkyn-3-ols of formula (II) wherein R is an alkyl group of from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, R?1 and R2¿ are each independently a saturated or unsaturated aliphatic hydrocarbon group containing from 1 to about 12 carbon atoms, and R¿3? or CH3.
